If it has Fire Emblem style romance/companionship in it too [...]

likely
Ooooooooh boy: I wonder if Darrah realizes the depth of this rabbit hole: Fire Emblem used to be T-RPGs with romance subplots: nowadays, they're the most involved match-making simulators this side of Crusader Kings II.
(Oh, and by the way, if they make this game, they better include several Mabari units which their own matchmaking mechanics: the Dragon Age series won't be complete until it allows your protagonist to be knee-deep in Mabari puppies)

As a side project, sure, do it. I'd rather have anything else as a side project though, feel like those resources could be put to use in something more interesting.
If the game proves profitable, it could bring more resources to the main games in the long run, or simply tackle story threads left hanging that wouldn't be resolved in the next main game.

throw the Hero of Ferelden into it and I would.
The thing is, a side-project tactical game could work pretty well as a way to reintroduce the Warden Commander (who's not always the HoF) as a playable character: your high-ranking Warden remains in Vigils' Keep, or whichever place is chosen to be used as HQ, doing administrative duties while his/her underlings are dispatched on different battlefields and seldom if ever take the field him/herself because s/he's busy leading the whole organization until the final act, when the Commander is reintroduced as a souped-up unit à la TG Cid for the climax, and then..;
Well, do you people know how X-Com 1 ends? A tactical spin off would be the Perfect opportunity to kill the HoF for good: think about the many benefits:
- If the HoF performed the ultimate sacrifice, the Orlesian Commander is given the opportunity to finally become more than a mere cypher.
- Those who keep demanding for the HoF to be brought back get what they want.
- The HoF dies at the end

So... they possibly have enough funding from EA to develop two DA games at once...? Can we just have an uber-amazing DA4 instead? Please?
It depends: I never cared for the multiplayer in Bioware Games (if anything, the fact that so many Mass Effect 3 side quests threw you into minimalist multiplayer arenas instead of full fledged dungeons because that's where a lot of resources went pissed me off), so if This is scrapped for another single-player game, I won't complain. (Multiplayer enthusiasts will probably sing a different tune than me, though)

I love the Dragon Age universe and merging the storyline and aesthetic with the fluid gameplay and politics of a Fire Emblem game (which are usually lacking in story but otherwise good)
The portable episodes have simplified stories: the home console versions are different beasts (the Jugdral saga is brutal, story-wise)

Any chance to flesh out Thedas would be great, and this gives us the chance to use regular soldiers who are usually relegated to the sidelines in the usual Dragon Age games.
Indeed, although games like the Fire Emblem or X-Com are typically about tiny elite vanguards, not the rank & file grunts.

(Just, please, no wardens...)
Try to see it as a compromise: the spinoff gets Wardeny so that their fans don't complain when DA4 focus on other stuff.
(Plus, if they use it as an excuse to kill the HoF onscreen, it gets my vote on principle)

No other Shining Force fans here?
I'm doing my very best to not think about the travesty the series has become in recent years
