In casual mode, it does

No it really doesn't. I completed the game on casual, and many enemies will still deal more damage faster than you if you stick to nothing but basic attack, unless you can build guard or barrier fast enough, in which case battles will just take forever to finish, especially against boss level stuff like dragons. You're basically just poking at them while allies use their spells/talents to deal more damage. That'll [sometimes] work for low tier cannon fodder but not for big enemies, especially none of the DLC lot. In DA2, lots of enemies deal tons of damage like just about every rogue and some had surprising AoE attacks, particularly the horrors and saarebas. Even on casual they can mop the floor with you if you just try to use attack at them and use nothing else because they'll deal critical damage while you're slowly whittling at them.

In any case, casual is not the baseline standard here, normal is. You absolutely cannot do this on normal, so it's a moot point.

I'd happily play a tactics game. Preferably one with story though. Like a Valkyria Chronicles. Not some mobile game.

This game could be Patrick Weekes' musical...
plot twist the games budget doesn't cover voice actors.

Not having voice actors wouldn't hurt me. The Shining Force games cleverly adjusted the pitch of the "talking" sound effect to fit the tone of voice for whichever character was speaking.

It could be mobile and I'd still enjoy it, as long as I could still customize the character and make dialogue choices in and between missions.

Well, I don't have a phone. That's my main reason.

I know, strange, right? :P

If they do it, I hope they don't go the mobile route. If they do, they do I wouldn't play it, as I don't play DA heroes or whatever it is, but my preference would for a PC release and X-box and PS4 if they think the interest is there on the console platforms.

I don't think the game would need a huge budget, or even be overly long, just a fun side adventure  in Antiva or Ravain or something like that could be perfect.

We are looking at a Qunari invasion, we could take charge of the front on Seheron or some other location (Probably one we won't visit directly in DA4)

Not at all. I'm still waiting for BioWare to actually make a compelling story that isn't disjointed and unintelligible. If they have to make an entirely different kind of combat system, that will only take away resources and time from crafting a better overall story.

Personally, I hate turn-based games. I think they are a dying breed with a niche crowd. If anything, I want DAI to learn from how TW3 incorporated an ''engaging and fulfilling'' combat system.

Gonna have to disagree on that last part, Revan. pretty strongly.

Anyhow, a XCOM-esque gaiden game would be really cool. Albeit I wouldn't want it to be like Fire Emblem where the series has devolved into endless shipping shenanigans (yes, far worse than Bioware games) between one-note characters.

But a properly implemented turn-based system works very well and is still popular; XCOM and Divinity Original Sin have shown us that. Also, one of the most popular and profitable gaming licenses of all time (Pokémon) has turn-based combat, so I'm not sure we can say it is so niche a genre.

The shipping shenanigans don't take that much time in term of gameplay even if ship-wars between hardcore fans of the still minor matchmaking mini-game have pretty much overtaken the discussions about the series: it's still 95% strategizing and stories involving ancient vendettas between noble houses.

I saw one trailer for that new FE game - the one that's really 1 games that they sold as 2 - and could not flee quickly enough in the opposite direction. It had some crazy, disturbing rubbing mini-game or... I don't even think there's a word for it.

Can't comment on Divinity since any game designed around Co-Op is an immediate "lol-nope" for me, but X-Com is a lot of fun. At least on the gameplay side. If it didn't have that strategy map or whatever it's called, I'd really like it. Such as it is, though, you're forced to basically follow a script for that just to get to have a real challenge on the strategy turn-based side.

They got rid of it for the Western release thankfully.

Apparently they kept the "wake your chosen paramour by molesting his/her cheeks" element but it's limited to when your MC and their romantic partner are already married with kids (an option that would doubtlessly please all those who thought that Josephine and Solas' romances weren't explicit enough)

RPG Tactics? Tactics JRPG are in my opinion a very different draft than old X-COM, new XCOM, JA series and clones. And Tactics CRPG for me are no match in comparison with a full fledged CRPG with turn based combats.

What I'd like is DA4 just with turn based combats and a coming back to a careful design of every single combat like in DAO or DA2, alas not like in DAI. That said DAI has multiple qualities not in DAO/DA2 and that I'd regret not see in DA4 with turn based combats.

Dragon Age was born to be a tactics game, so, yes. Of course.

Hell no! Unless they'll revamp tactics and me personally I want the next DA to be an Action/RPG, hack and slash, and open world gameplay.
