So can we not have those irritating tutorial moments thrown into the gameplay of the main story? The most irritating moment for me in ME2 was being stuck behind Miranda's door in the beginning, because I forgot to switch back to the vanilla Coalesced after giving myself unlimited ammo for most weapons.

In case you don't remember, Shepard picks up an empty pistol from a locker inside the lab he was regenerated in and he has to grab an ammo clip from the floor to reload before venturing elsewhere. If you can't take the clip, you're stuck because the game won't let you continue.

There are moments like this in the beginning of ME3 as well, with Anderson repeatedly pestering you to grab some ammo, grab a medkit and "have you forgotten how to shoot?". And I'm like SHUT YOUR CANDY BUM UP, you old bag, I know how to shoot! I just prefer to blast them pesky Husks into oblivion with a Biotic Flare.

A good portion of the Andromeda players (I'd like to say the MAJORITY) will have played the previous games, so we'd know how to shoot. So quit treating us like retards and spare us those STUPID in-game tutorials, OK?

Thank you.

ME:A should have the option to turn off tutorials, even when I play a new game I prefer to figure things out by myself.

No, we are. I demand being taught on how to walk and turn around. Oh, and tutorial on choosing dialog options would be nice too.

I don't see the big deal. Those sequences are pretty short and painless. That said, the option to turn them off would be most welcome, especially if you're one of those folks that will probably play the game repeatedly (like me).

I agree. But for me the worst tutorials are ones that the characters themselves tell you, completely annihilating any sense of immersion; making it look like the character is raping the 4th wall to a new degree. Imagine Miranda in ME2 literally voicing the tutorial and actually saying out loud " Now, press the 'X' button to do this action ". I would have eaten a broomstick if it happened.

Ironically I think I'd find it funny if the devs themselves would mock the 4th wall after breaking it, for example (during such a tutorial):

Shepard: " This pistol doesn't have a thermal clip. "

Miranda: " Look for a thermal clip for your pistol! "

Shepard: " Found one. "

Miranda: " Remember Shepard, well... you there, whoever you are, press your 'R' key to reload! "

Shepard: " ...what was that Miranda? "

Miranda: " Pfff don't act like you don't know! "

Shepard: " Ever heard of suspension of disbelief? "

Miranda * Yvonne's (voice actress) real voice takes over *: " Oh c'mon Jennifer! That wasn't the line! "

Shepard * Jennifer - not supposed to - keeps talking as Shepard to add some jesting *: " Who is Jennifer? And by the way I need to get out of here alive, where do I go now? "

Yvonne: " Hmmm, oh right, turn left now, that door has some hacking you need to take care of. "

Jennifer: " You're supposed to tell me that as Miranda. "

Yvonne: " Grrrrr ok you got me there! "

Seriously though, I just hate tutorials, generally speaking.

How about either tutorials are mandatory on normal difficulty and below and omitted completely on Veteran and above

or alternatively we could have different tutorials for each difficulty which prioritize different mechanics.

For example:

Casual - I've never played a video-game before (absolute basics)

Normal - I've never played a Mass Effect game before (mass effect basics)

Veteran - I've played previous Mass Effect games, but not this one (new mechanics)

Insanity - I don't need no fancy learning (you're on your own).

What about new players though? I think some kind of tutorial is needed.. maybe not one where you are forced to do everything it says, but some kind of tips like where you shoot, use skills and so on are needed- and as old player it's nice to be reminded sometimes as well. Though I do agree that long unskippable tutorials are boring.

You yourself may not need it, but there will always be someone who needs that tutorial. Not including a tutorial is a sure-fire way to give those players that need it, a bad experience.

The game has guns, which means you're supposed to shoot. It's on PC, so you're supposed to use the mouse. If you're on console, you use the controller.

Only 12-month olds wouldn't get that.

I don't know whether its a bug or what but I find its annoying when ME2 like to pop up those tutorial bars during cutscenes and it still won't go away with NG+.

That does not matter. What if someone who has never played a game before purchases it? Never held a controller or touched a keyboard and mouse? Your request denies them the chance for a good experience.

Exactly, tutorials are not meant for players who have already played the game or anything similar, they are meant for people who have never played it.

Yeah personally I would like to refute DJAetius' assertion.

Then games like Andromeda are the last thing they should start playing.

Your ME2 example isn't really a big deal though. If this was something that could potentially happen without tinkering with the game, then sure. Otherwise, it's more a case of user error.

Eh, ME doesn't have annoying tutorials. Not really. Now a game that did have annoying tutorials was that one by Studio Ghibli. I forget it's name, but holy damn even younger kids would understand how to use the damn spell book after about a couple hours of game play and needing to pull it out four+ times. You don't need to STILL be walking us through an unskippable five minute tutorial about it. I still haven't finished that game just because it got so annoying and took so long. :/

I really miss the days where the tutorial was a separate thing from the game - now-a-days every first level of games are littered with pop-ups and there is no pop-up filter to invoke :(

Games need tutorials man, it's like, the circle of life. Or something.

The thing is when u are on ur third or xth waltrough, u don't need tutorial anymore. I have played ME3 6/7 times, at a certain point all i wanted to do is : "to blast them pesky Husks into oblivion with a Biotic Flare." like DJAetius said.

So being able to skeep the tutorial, is very welcome. It is needed but sometimes kinda endless like Dragon Age Inquisition.

For exemple in ME3 skeeping the tutorial will make u following anderson, without having him barking on what to do.

Maybe it would be nice to access the tutorial from the menu : A virtual training room?

I agree about Anderson at the beginning of ME3

I would also say on Mars as well. When the asari says you're going to need more than guns to stop them Shepard. Playing as a soldier, I thought, really. Watch this asari. Bang, bang, bang. Mmmm. What were you saying about needing more than guns?

A moment later that same asari says get to cover. Why? Shepard already knew how do get in cover on Earth. The part with using the omniblade could've been done on Earth with Anderson

Those parts on Mars were not necessary. That could've been done on Earth with Anderson.
