If you like blowing things up go with Artificer. I'm sure someone else could give you more detail.

Depends on the rogue, and depends on your team.
If you are a solo rogue, then Artificer because of the focus ability to triple your attacks and multiple damage.
If with a team, then Tempest so you can increase your speed and attack rate.
If you prefer close up combat, Tempest for Frost and Electricity Flasks.
If ranged, then Artificer for the mines.
Artificer also boosts team members with passive abilities. Tempest is good with a team as well for the Electricity Flask + switch to another teammate. But the flasks take up your ability slots.
This is no problem if you are solo however, since you can go into stealth and switch your abilities and inventory during battle.

Assassins are good for killing one thing very quickly.
Tempests are good for killing all the things, except for Thousand Cuts is a similar state of killing one thing very quickly
Not sure about Artificiers never really played one nor do I have a lot of experience with Varric, but I imagine they are good about killing all the things in a somewhat strategic manner.

That reminds me a couple of months ago i saw a you tube video of a Rogue killing the level 23 dragon in Emprise du Lion he was on nightmare mode he was alone and i think he was using a Thousand Cuts but i am not sure about that anymore but that dragon did not stand a chance he was dead in like 3 seconds very funny video btw

I'm an Artificer and i actually like to use the spike traps and elemental mines up close. If i use them at a distance it seems like the bad guys never actually get close enough to set them off. Use them up close and the bad guys go boom right away.

That's pretty much what I do too. Run up, throw down some mines and then sneak off. Artificer is my favourite Class in this game.

Hey I enjoyed the hell out of Assassin! Kara. I really suggest you give it a look. But then I am even thinking of jumping ship for Tempest in the future, a thousand cuts + Flask of Lightning yo.

Depends on your personal play style and what kind of a rogue you wanna run. I cannot really advice you just share my experiences with the various specializations.

Artificer is the best Rogue specialization in the game. It effectively covers the fundamental weakness of the Rogue class. Conventionally, a Rogue is well known for high single target damage, typically burst damage. To compensate for this, Rogues are terrible at crowd control and area of effect abilities.
Being an Artificer solves the lack of crowd control, lack of elemental damage and lack of area of effect damage that the Rogue typically suffer from. Add this to the fact that you get passives that have party-wide benefit together with Fallback Plan means you are extremely versatile.
Tempest is rather weak in my opinion. Flask of Fire can be replicated by an Artificer with very high crit rate, Flask of Frost is unnecessary because Rogues have better tools to avoid taking damage such as Evade and Flask of Lightning merely act as a positioning tool for which Fallback Plan is superior. Moreover, all the Tempest's elemental flask damage can be gained from Elemental Mines that the Artificer have.
Assassin is just meh. Its the traditional high burst damage and stealth Rogue. Which is not exactly very interesting when you compare it to traps, mines and teleportation lanterns. I mean sure you have the Mark of Winning but once you reach a certain level as a Rogue, you will be doing very high damage anyway so what matters more is utility and fun. & Artificer just has the most amount of utility and fun.

Who cares about crowd control when you can just kill everything in sight? THat is what your companions are for.

I personally think Assassin's synergize very well with Archers. Archery does such huge amount of damage in the game that when you combine it with Mark of Death you can positive shred bad guys.
In my mind Artificer's work well with Daggers, Tempests can go either way, Assassin's with archery

Its not supposed to be.
. IMO Rogues have by far the best set of specializations of any class. At least when it comes to my personal tastes. Personally I'd only ever be a Templar as a Warrior or a Knight Enchanter/ Rift Mage for Mages.

No i suppose not but i was hoping it would be
if i play with a Warrior then it would be a Champion and when it comes to the Mages i prefer the Rift Mage Knight Enchanter is still okay i used Knight Enchanter a couple of times to but Bioware changed it and made it less powerful the only little thing that i miss when it comes to Mages is the ability to walk while you are fighting just like the Rogue Archer can i like that a lot
