That assumes there is still some semblance of the Council government present on the ARK. I don't know if Spectres are returning at all. We do know that N7 will, at least, have a presence in the game.

I'd like to fight some Spectres.

Being one was a pain in the azz.  It felt like seeking permission or approval from each and every council race every time Shep took action.

Hopefully they have as much of a role in ME:A as Roman Praetorians have in modern English Parliament: ****** NONE.

ME:A is a chance to build upon an interesting and rich setting, without being shackled to many of the bad choices made in the earlier ME series (mainly ME:3). I would hate to see the series stagnate further by keeping in something as limited as the SPECTREs.

Sign that one hasn't paid attention to the ME universe for some time: when someone spells "Spectre" in all caps and you first think of the villainous organization from the James Bond universe.

No, unless the council had a hand in the construction and deployment of the Ark. And even then, you're going into a potentially hostile location, to form diplomatic relations with the Andromeda species. A Spectre would be too much of a wild card.

And what, you brought Krogan with you for lulz or something?

Not that the Spectres were any good at keeping the Krogan in line to begin with but you'll need someone with that kind of authority to at least try.

Hopefully Nothing. They're one of the most useless groups ever. All they seemed to do was fail.

Taking elite crew makes sense but yelling "Think you can run in a Spectre?" won't work in Andromeda.

More so than fail, spectres seem to have a low life expectancy.

They either get shot in the back of the head by fellow spectres; indoctrinated and turned into transformers; blown to smithereens in space by strange aliens; sell out the Council to the shadow broker for a better salary; heck, they even have to purchase their own armor from C-Sec. What's not to love?

No N7
No Spectre
No forced to be a hero

Come up with unique back stories like DA:O to explain how this character got into another galaxy, like an astronaut, archaeologist or a mapper or something. Doesn't have to be a superhero centric ego driven story to start with.

Let me guess- we're going to be N7 right? Are they getting dull that they can't come up with nothing new?! Or just plain ol' lazy that they won't spend the time and effort of coming up with new ideas?! Come on BioWare you guys can come up way better than that!!!

Pretty much. The image I posted above is the protagonist, and it clearly has the N7 insignia on their upper right arm. And Mike Gamble says that our character will "have something to do with N7".

I get it but keeping some familiar stuff from Mass Effect Universe makes sense and gives us the "connected/engaged with MEU" feeling, otherwise no point in calling it Mass Effect: Andromeda. Entirely new means a new game title.

N7 can mean anything in Andromeda. Assuming the Alliance military structure would be intact in the next game, indeed, even the Alliance itself, is 'presuming too much'. Just like many symbols in human history were used differently and reinterpretated by different civilization, so can stuff from the Milk Way.

Actually, I wonder what people would think if the civilizations that reached Andromeda had no idea they came from the Milk Way. They might know they came from a different galaxy, but no idea from which and why.

I understand that they want a ME essence alive but it's getting to the point where it's boring and repetitive by being N7 all the time. Let that bull rest with the trilogy it's time for new chapter.

Or just come up with a different occupation like an astronaut with combat training, your mission is to map out nebulas, solar systems, and planets and you entered a ship for lift off to Andromeda. They should come up something that has originality to the story, and not the same N7 soldier crap.

True. Well, we also gotta wait and see on how they are approaching with the story this time, offering us a new galaxy and a new protagonist.

In fairness, BioWare never really did anything with the N7 in the original trilogy. Heck, Shepard was the worst spectre ever since he was constantly having his spectre status revoked... I think it would be kind of cool to be a newbie and earn your ranks through the N7 program, rather than being GOD like Shepard was and not needing to do anything.

N7 is by far the most recognizable symbol in Mass Effect (IT HAS ITS OWN HOLIDAY) and it's by far the most underrepresented part of the games. I wouldn't mind it being further explored.

They can just create back stories for a player to choose from whether to be a N7, astronaut or whatever to add more variety not just stick to this one occupation. They should be more flexible with this.

I thought being a spectre didn't matter anymore anway since ME2, Bioware itself never cared for it for sure...so why it should make a peappearance in a new galaxy without a council to give that status?

But if the head of SPECTRE in MEA is voiced and acted by Christoph Waltz it might actualyl be interesting again ...
