What can Bioware and ME:A learn from Dragon Age Inquisition?

What has it already taken and what should it avoid? Heard some rumours (rumours that are to be taken with a grain of salt) about ME:A basically being Inquisition with a Mass Effect skin and while it should not be surprising to see Andromeda sharing more than a few similarities with Inquisition it does reduce any chance of my purchasing the game.

But that said are there any positives that can be learned from Inquisition and applied to Andromeda or is it all cautionary tales on what not to do?

How to be a multi- Game of the Year award winner while still be hated by everyone because the word Witcher isn't in it's title.

Oh that is easy, just release in year full of dud AAA releases and pay off the judges.

Or maybe that's just because there's a massive disconnect between the gaming press and what seems like most gamers.

Judging from your first post in the thread you seem to be one of the major factors as to why these threads dont go well.

I can get trolling as sometimes it can be amusing to post snarky comments but if you are going to post unwarranted snarky comments you kind of forfeit the right to lament the fact that these threads go downhill considering that you are a part of the problem as to why these threads go downhill.

That would imply that I have posted and derailed every one of these threads, however reality shows I have rarely or ever posted in these threads which makes your statement a complete fabrication and that you just have some fun with a joke.

Pfft... rumors, I don't take them into consideration(or any other) unless or until I watch the gameplay myself.

DAI is like getting the clap. You slip up and catch it by mistake but you move on and learn from it and do everything differently so it never happens again.

In MEA's case the less inspiration it takes from DAI the less shitty it will be by default, and as such the better it's chances of proving that it's worthy of being called a Mass Effect game.

Bioware's biggest takeaway should be "Don't show any gameplay footage until you are 100% sure it won't change in the final game, because your fanbase can't handle it and will call it false advertising."

So far, they seem to have learned that lesson.

Well in there defense the footage that was shown wasn't meant for the public.  What they learned from that is no matter what you do.... someone is going to leak it.

A couple of threads that discussed this recently,

Also, more than DA: I, it's important to keep in mind who the Game/Project Director of ME: A is and temper your expectations accordingly.

GTAV, The Walking Dead: Season 2 and The Wolf Among us (not that TWD and TWAU were GOTY material) were actually released in 2013, the rest on that list weren't particularly amazing either, Bayonetta 2 (not that I think it was GOTY material either) was probably more harshly judged what with "misogyny" being a hot topic in the video game industry and everyone getting their panties in a bunch over Bayonetta being somehow sexist.

2014's lineup was nowhere near as powerful as the years before it and certainly not even close to matching the quality of games in 2015.

Just going by your actions in this thread, not going to go through your entire post history but even if you weren't a contributing factor to the derailment of most of these types of threads does not excuse you from doing the exact same thing you lament in this thread.

Again, you are assuming that my sole purpose was to de-rail this thread.  Pleas stop assuming things.  I clearly stated it was meant as a joke, would you like me to start accusing you of not reading other peoples posts because you missed that one little piece in mine?  no you wouldn't like that, so again don't assume things.

I double checked and The Walking Dead: Season 2 release for Episode 1 is Dec 13 which would put it out of contention for 2013 GOTY (plus I believe they have a rule that the complete game must be released for a game to be considered for GOTY and the game wasn't completed until Aug 2014)

And I don't mind if you post snarky comments, everyone has the right to freedom of speech, merely pointing out the hypocrisy of being snarky instead of being constructive and then lamenting the fact that the threads do not go well.

Here are some things that seem like they might be relevant.

1. Don't skimp too much on the "cinematic" or at least close up camera
2. Don't make gear/levels too predominant in MP
3. Encourage players to continue with the main plot rather than getting bogged down in side content
4. Make sure the villain remains threatening throughout the story, or have a big bad to step in and up the ante if necessary
5. There actually is an appetite for playing non-humans
6. Include decent hair and eyebrows!
7. A lot of men seem to want their LI to get naked, women might find it less important. Though we've got small sample sizes there, and it might be different with different writing.
8. Don't force players to do side quests to continue with the main story. Even if its not very restrictive (as DAI's Power system wasn't) it will be resented.

Does not matter, still not what I would call GOTY material, if that is the best example you have of the games that were released in 2014 then it only goes to show just how weak a year it was.

Considering the things one hears about the Andromeda gameplay, the most important lesson would be: how not to do an open-region(/world) game.
