Okay so yesterday me and 2 friends decided to play Mass Effect MP for the for time in a while, i hadn't got the game installed so they played a game with 2 randoms without me. 

 

After I finally downloaded it I went to join my friends lobby, selected my character and then after the loading screen it said something along the lines of "cannot join, you do not have the same version of the game"

 

So I wonder if I'm missing DLC, don't have the patches, or if changed I made to Nvidia Inspector and tweaking the FoV had caused this issue. so I spend a hour reversing tweaks I made, checking online, a repairing my game and still nothing.

 

So i decide to search for a game solo and i find a lobby, so I think that it is my friends who have a old version, and tell them to repair their game on Origin, and after they both verify their game it works and they can join me!

 

So hurray, problem solved? nope. Another friend saw that we were playing and he decided he'd download the game and join us, after he downloads the game he goes to join my game and you guessed it "Cannot join, using a different version of the game". So we decided to tell him to repair his game, nothing. All 4 of us repair our installs and then we can get the first 3 in but my 4th friend can't join. Still haven't found a fix.

 

TLDR: There seems to be multiple versions of the game available to download, and no way to get to a specific one, so the playerbase is going to be massively divided by being on different versions and not knowing about it. 

 

EDIT: We have ALL MP DLC, and the game worked fine last time we played.

Please read the first post in that thread and see if it resolves your issues. (Because it sounds like you and/or your friends are missing DLC.)

 

You talk about downloading the game, so I assume you are on PC. To be perfectly clear, the different editions of ME3 available on Origin all have THE SAME multiplayer component.

And btw before I got my friends to repair their games they had randomers join them, since we got it working in 3 player nobody ever joined in several matches, so I'm guessing no, not working as intended.

Well yes. It's working as intended. It's just that, well... It's a long story for when you're older. (or Binary could concise it into shape)

Me and my two old roommates had issues connecting. Me and OJ could connect to Steve, but not to each other. If either invited either to the game it wouldn't work. But if Steve invited us it space-magically worked. So we got Steve to invite us.

 

Now I don't hang out with Steve anymore. But you should get ahold of him.

But does this stop  randomly working? We used to play multiplayer all the time, nobody had issue connecting to anyone else. Also I couldn't host or join my first 2 friends until THEY repaired their games, so that fixed something.

It was pretty random in the first place. (Honestly speaking now)

I have no clue why we had to get Steve to host for us to receive friend invites to a private lobby. At the time he was on a high powered overpriced gaming laptop and we were on homemade PC's which were great but nothing spectacular. It worked for as long as we played, after that no clue. We played mostly before Platinum even existed.

 

This is but one of the troubles. I'm a mute PCer and have been the entire time. We used our WoW guild's Vent server or Skype to communicate rather than the in game mic that worked for 1 of us, periodically... Three mics and two gaming rigs later and my mic has never worked.

 

My bet is on Origin issues.

The issue is because BioWare released a version 1.6 of this game. Built on 9/13/2013. It is technically the same (seems only guid changed), but it is causing different version of the game messages.

I got some files from a user with this issue and can confirm it does not work. It seems pretty crappy that BioWare doesn't fix this...

BioWare would have to fix this... But they don't even read these forums so they won't.

This issue has been cropping up more and more recently. I wonder if newly purchased games are being put onto this version.
