I totally feel your pain here. I love the game so far, but I find I can't play it for more than a few hours without getting serious eyestrain.

I don't blame them for not caring or testing. Its 2010, and as cheesy as that sounds these are HD consoles and games are developed in HD. At this point SD screens have no priority. If you can spend 300$ for a xbox setup, you can for sure as hell afford a HDTV.

Have to agree with you.  It's the same sad song when keeping up with the tech.  Think about it: We expect our developers to use state of the art technology to design our games.  Shouldn't we expect the same from ourselves to play them?  If you can't afford it, then suck it up, and play the game for what it is, with what you've got!  Image IPB

I got a much cheaper solution, VGA cables turn your pc screen to an HD screen for your 360 games.

It's not like making the text a readable size ruins the HD experience.  I do not recall hearing anyone complain about the font size being to big in Mass Effect 1.  This was a poorly thought out cosmetic choice

Several people who've posted here, myself included, own HD TV's and are also experiencing the same problem. So no, this is not a technology or a money issue, it's a lack of proper testing issue. Having to sit four feet from my HDTV just to read the text is unacceptable, and I'd like to hear a Bioware response on this.

Computer moniters are pretty cheap too, that's what i got for HD gaming. A 22 inch(i think) 1050 res for 2 bills... that's not too much at all. So save up your cash and upgrade.

When it comes to a choice of a XBox set-up that works fine with a SDTV, or a HDTV, I'm going to pick the first one. $300 may seem like chump change to most of you, but some people don't have tons of disposable income.

I've gotten used to it now, but I still have to find myself squinting when reading messages.

Some HDTV's show text more clearly than others. Its not a proper testing issue, its your TV has an issue

See the thing is most of the people on this forum are probably only teens and have no concept of having a monthly budget and having bills to pay. They are used to getting allowance and blowing it on luxury items (smart phones, HDTV's). Trust me when you kids get in the working world you aint gonna have all this money to just walk into best buy and buy a HDTV (Even a cheap one)

HD here and the text is fine. OP, stop living in the stone age. HDTV's aren't that expensive. If you can afford a current gen console i'm sure you can afford a nice 26" HDTV for the same price.

Well, my computer screen is 24 inch HD, but I don't have an HD TV.

While we're on the same side in this argument, I dont think we're going to get anywhere by starting to call each other 'kids'.  We should probably avoid turning this into a who makes more money pissing match

Since when is calling someone a "Kid" deragatory? All I am saying is some of the replies I have seen make it seem like buying an HDTV is an everyday occurance for people which it isnt (Not for me at least). They just gotta face the facts that Bioware did a poor job on SDTV optimization. I'm certainly not downing the game for that I'm in love with this game but it does hamper the expierience.

I think it's funny when people use "SD TV" like that's a thing. It's not, it's just old, outdated TV.

I know I should be less of a jerk on this subject, but come on.

I'm certainly not assuming that, I bet most of the people here will get good jobs and have money to blow. One day my financial situation will get better but until then Bioware should have optimized the game better for people with SDTV's. I dont care what year it is or what generation we are in I know plenty of people who got more important things to be worried about than buying an HDTV. I dont care if its the year 2030 and I still have an SDTV I dont want my game expierience hampered by tiny text (Probably a very easily fixed thing).

Handheld cannot even begin to tell you how much truth is in your post Handheld gives you 1000 handheld points.

Handheld also knows this is a bit off topic but Handheld wishes to know if vanguards can learn throw?

While its not a derogatory term, usually one person on the 'kids' side will feel compelled to post their entire tax return in order to prove that they're an adult and suddenly everyone is trying to prove they are better off then everyone else.  Used to happen all the time back when I played WoW and folks would call the alliance 'kiddy'.  Granted Id like to think we're better then that, but might as well just avoid it all together.

Confession:  Except for the font issues, so far I think this game is a substantial improvement over ME1.  This one issue though.  God damn man.  I have no clue what they were thinking.

Also try playing Tekken 6 on a SDTV :( text is probably worse than in this game

The way you write this, its as if you think buying an HDTV is a waste of money. Like it or not technology is moving forward, developers are always looking for ways to improve graphics and such. You and I both know that. While im not saying SDTV's are obsolete. I am saying developers now are looking ahead, and Optimization for SDTV's is not something they are obligated to do.

I have a HDTV and the text is hard to read...I have to sit way closer to my tv to read things quickly...lucky I have amazing vision and can kind of read things really slow from far away (where my couch is from my tv)

Blizzard catered to lower end computers when WoW came out, and got 11 million subscribers as a result. Last time I checked on ToR, they were trying to do the same thing.

It's not like a major thing, like trying to get the game running on black and white TV's or something. It's just text, and I'm pretty sure they could of spent the extra time to increase the font size up a few notches.
