The argument "just buy one you cheap ass" is moronic.

I'm 28, with a good career. However we're saving for our wedding, and my fiancee had surgery last year which put us down to one income, of which we're still recovering.

It's not "being cheap", it's called real life.

The text is way too small.

-edit-

I play on an SDTV.  We're getting an HD as a wedding gift, but if it wasn't for that, that expense would be a long time away.

True story;

My then-teenage daughter goe to visit a friend out of town. I drive her. The kid's living in a mobile home with friends. The place is a dump. They're living off canned food and have very little furniture.

At one end of the mobile home there's an Xbox and a tube TV. The roomates all pitched in to buy it.

The TV wasn't even wired for cable. I don't think it even had an antenna on it.

This is a serious issue.

Well as soon as you send some of us that cash to get a nice 42 in flatscreen high def tv we will upgrade.
Til then please stick your head back in your ***

Who says you need to get a 42 inch screen?

There are plenty of affordable HDTV's out there.

Most 19-22 inch LCD 720p TV's are under 300 USD.

If you can't afford under 300 USD, then I'm not sure how you managed to spend around 400+ for the xbox 360 and games.

Unless you rent all of your games and own a 200 USD arcade system.

Yes because somehow being able to afford 300 USD somehow means another 300 USD comes out of thin air. >_>

No, it means that if you were able to save up 300 dollars, then at some point you'd be able to save up another 300 dollars.

Unless that's somehow a ridiculous notion and you only managed to save 300 dollars for the xbox out of luck or divine intervention?

At some point being the key term. What if it takes you 3 years to save up 300 bucks? What then? I'm supposed to squint for the next 3 months (heck not even I doubt I'd play a game that I couldn't read the text properly for very long)? Everyone doesn't make enough money to be able to save more then enough scraps. (For one my books alone are the price of a GOOD HDTV.)

Edit: LOL at divine intervention I actually found 290 bucks on the ground and bought my Xbox with that. Most awesome day ever.

Maybe you could've spent a little less time making a gigantic DLC scavenger hunt and a little more time making the game playable for everyone. Im sure its probably been said to death, but text is completely unreadable on SD TVs.

I am enjoying the game (about as much as I can) but is this a sign showing how you plan on treating your customers in the future?  Considering how much I've enjoyed your past games, this is really disappointing.

Looks great on all 3 of my HDTV's, they have been out for years now. If can buy a 360 and games, buy a better tv, id rather not have them make games for people who are still playing on caveman technology, get a job.

Epic Games did a study and found that only 30-40% of the people that played their games used HD-TVs, which meant that the 60-70% majority still used "outdated" standard TVs.

But that's still a majority. And the majority of people who play with SD-TVs suffer when companies ignore that install base. It's the reason Dead Rising became a poster-boy for small text and why there remains an outcry to allow ALL parties (both HD & SD) to enjoy the game fully and comfortably.

And, yes, I find the argument "just buy an HD-TV" is very narrow-minded. I have an old, big-screen SD-TV that serves me well 99% of the time, even with most modern games. As a poor college student, I can barely afford a console and a game, let alone a several hundred dollar new TV when I have a perfectly good big-screen standard TV. The vast majority of games read well on it, with one or two exceptions (like Dead Rising and, to an extent, Mass Effect 2).

I'd prefer Mass Effect 1's level of clarity and comfort of readability.

Hey I'm still in school, have basically no income, and my parents refuse to let me play xbox on the HDTV. So everyone that says its my fault for not having one can shut up.

Games rated mature, if your still in school your probably not old enough to play this game anyways, parents who buy their kids games who are too young to be playing them is a pet peeve of mine, especially on shooters where online teams is the fad, and  I have to listen to children act immature and annoying in every match I join. No remorse here bro.

You could look into buying a cheap computer monitor (LCD, 18 inches, around 100 dollars) and using a Male VGA to Female Component converter cable (10 dollars).

That is true and that only cost about 200 dollars all together

Yes because every single person who bought ME2 also purchased an xbox system at the same time.

What planet do you live on where 300USD isn't a big deal?

like i said before... there are a lot of punk ass kids on here playing on mommy and daddy hdtv. they think it is "theirs" b/c they live in the basement. All of you that are in touch with reality, please dont give in to these snot nosed arrogant kids and their comments.

BTW... the text is too small on my 52" 1080 tv too. So, eitherway, it more a game problem than TV problem. SDTV is small and blurry... HDTV is small and clear... regardless and 20/20 vision, its still a pain to read it. I am waiting for some fanboy to post the codex on wiki.

I really think everyone who is criticizing others for not spending $200-1000 on new equipment right now should also post their income, expenses, and net worth.  I think it could be very revealing!

For some reason when I play Mass Effect 2 on my black and white tv from 1967 the colors just look terrible. WTF Bioware?!?!

But seriously maybe we should take up a collection for the poor kid.

looks brilliant on a panasonic viera, i also have a bravia and ME2 looks unreal in 1080p, but i dont have trouble reading text at all... and whats this ranting on being in touch with reality, I have worked hard for everything I own and I am not obligated to show any empathy towards any of you. I paid for my own tuition and am now enjoying the fruits of my labour. Its sad to see how easily disturbed you "older" people are, we are not snot nosed arrogant kids BIG JEEPER, we are a more educated, capable generation. It would be more fitting to say it is a shame maybe things didnt work out for you, but don't you dare harp on the success of others. I may not be 30 but I will see more success at 30 then you ever will by the looks of it. That masters degree looks good on my wall.

When did I say "no big deal?" I inferred that if you managed to save 300 dollars to spend on something like video games, then surely you could save up that amount of money again?  Is that an insane thing to think?

I called the TV's under 300 USD affordable, as compared to the rest of the HDTV's which are much more expensive.

There are HD solutions that can land you under the 150 USD range, which I also posted.

The font is too small and the off-white (orangeish color) text on an often orangish background makes the text very hard to read. End of story.
