I like mass effect and its world, I'll admit it. There are problems I got with it, but I love the variety there is in the galaxy, and my only wish is we had a more in depth look at races, as well as that there would be more races to explore. Now, one of my favorite races is the batarians, mostly because I have a soft spot for any race that's designated with "Evil Jobber Syndrome", Ie its race serving as a foil for the main character, and I see a lot of potential for a squad mate or character in general whose cool from that race to show them in a new light and show that they aren't all slave trading ******* mercs. See Dorian and the Tevinter Imperium for what I'm talking about.
BUT, as much as I wish they were more explored, that is a story that should be told in the Milky Way, as well as all these other races story. This is the Andromeda Galaxy, an entierly new area of space with literally no limit on what could be out there. We saw how many races there were just from the milky way alone. Why not have as many new races as there were in the old mass effect series? It'd only make sense that we see what this brand new galaxy has to offer.
And not some two-bit half-asssed galaxy-full-of-one-race jobber stuff like what the previews hinted at. I want a galaxy full of new races to see. What I don't want to see is the same old species taking up space in Andromeda and the only new alien being the bad guy race. Give us a Halo situation if you're gonna do that, where there are multiple alien races on the badguy's side.
