Ryder is a name of British origin, so I wouldnt mind so much if the main protagonist turned out to be of British descent.
I just use my first name.
I did for my Warden and Shepard, but it gets weird if every protagonist has the same first name.
But, so far, I have decided on Owen Ryder for my canon male protagonist, and Odette Ryder for my female alt.
Seriously, could we stop assuming Ryder is the name of the PC? If everyone keeps calling the PC Ryder and it turns out to be some other character's name it's just going to cause headaches down the line.

It's better than writing "the Andromeda PC" or "the MEA protagonist" all the time. And if it's something else, well, I don't think it will be that big of a deal. People got over Beardy McWarden and Dramatic Hands Mustache Guy pretty quickly.

My only concern is whether Jeremy Hillary Boob PhD will fit within the character limit.

Why would a person not just write Player Character? Or better yet, the name that the majority have taken to calling said player character?

I couldnt get into Andromeda, I was always more of a Farscape fan.
