His strength is in his massive dps with radius Warp> Shockwave combo. So the more often you can make that happen, the better. So Warp> Heavy Melee > Warp if they still live. Rinse repeat. Gun is just there to carry your Stunner (or glitch weight Desciple Omniblade, if you go 66666 glitch like me) and lame hacks and escorts where you're out of melee range.

 

 

When fighting a Banshee and she does her hand of denial, start backhanding her with style (she's out of sync kill mode when like that, so you're safe). As this forces her to Nova + you get dmg reduction from Heavy Melee so you can tank her. Once she starts the nova animation, you can Warp> PimpSlap > Shockwave biotic Combo finish. Just back away if she lives (unless on ramp), because she's now back in sync-kill mode again.

 

 

PS - on Platinum, maybe use Cyclonics instead...

It's the only amp I use when playing the Volus kits since they are so dependent on having shield boost of CD.

I also use it on the Collector if I have a heavy weapon equipped to be able to get Dark sphere out as frequently as possible.

It does have it's uses, eventhough other amps in general are better except of course the stability amp which have a very limited use.

Something about banshees I don't quite get.  When is she in sync-kill mode?  When is she not in sync-kill mode?  Because I've heard of different stories and different "facts" and have verified to them to be bust.  A lot of players I've played with also complain that the 'ramp trick' deal doesn't work although I have yet to be grabbed while on the ramp.

 

When she's teleporting around, she is in sync-kill mode.  Once she gets close to someone, you will hear her go "urrghh", and then if that someone doesn't move, or if she gets close to a second someone, the sync-kill will happen.  This is why sometimes it seems cheap and instant; she primed her urrghh on someone else, then teleported to you when that person got away from her.

 

Once she gets tired of teleporting, she will start walking around and throwing warp balls.  She cannot sync you then.  The easiest way to tell is when one of the pugs throws a power at her and she puts up Hand of Denial.  Though once you know what to look for you can easily tell.

 

Then she will scream at you and start teleporting again.  Back to sync-kill mode.

Usually after dealing enough damage (take down barrier) or triggering her to stop by being close. Works nicely on ramps. I read that in the field handbook of the Justicar.

You need to stand above or below her. Standing next she can grab. She has problems doing it when there is a height difference. It's likely a collision check somewhere there that tests on a fixed height or so.

I've been grabbed a few times on ramps, mostly using the close quarters kits like the Valkyrie or Fury. I think it happens when you get on the same level as the Banshee, like when she hits you or you dodge etcetera.

As Michael said on grabbing and teleporting. plus I'll add the visual telltalle sign of biotic chargeup around her tummy. That's danger time (is explained very good somewhere in the resource library). Audio cues are notoriously inconsistent on her, and many have heard her ssssh animation all too late. From an attack pattern she often does zigzag teleports- ie she first ports a half jump away from you, luring u in, and then teleport port behind u.

The most common mistake I see with PUG games is that powers are generally useless when her barrier is up ( reave and annihilation force excluded) . First strip barrier, *then* have a fun with powers.

And. On topic : Power efficiency is very helpful for power classes to improve power cooldown speed /weight to 160%. Beyond 160 is almost not noticable (some diehard specialist here might use it though to great efficiency). It's mass effect, why apply a level 6 power only once and pew pew pew, when you can do power pew pew (detonate) power pew power (detonate). In contrast, if u go into the - %, powers is probably only used in special cases.

Yes, if she's on the same exact level of elevation as you on a ramp she can grab you, pretty mediocre AI programming in general that she can't grab you otherwise, not very logic.

Got to love it in pugs when some less talented infiltrator (usually an AIU or TGI) comes running with a teleporting Banshee behind and then cloak as he/she runs close to you, resulting in you getting grabbed right away. Now that is skillful trolling for those that understand the game mechanics, but in general the pugs doing that don't really understand what they just did.

Good writeup - only one minor omission tho ;) an asgard can also charge dodge a praetorian ... Anyway hail ur drell.

I use them on my ACA on gold sometimes. He is plagued by recharge speeds so I put them to good use here sometimes.

Nah, that's not so bad. Bad are those targetted by the Prime or Scion that run towards you.

I use them on the volus vanguard with a Raider. Together with the orbs cooldown bonus that guy can charge ridiculously often with heavy loadout. Works like a charm. There is a Video of this somewhere here on bsn but I do not feel like searching for it.

You should eat 'em for a faster cooldown when you rage.

 

 

They are pretty much useless, because Cyclonic, Adrenaline Mod or Power Amp will be better 100% of the time. 

 

 

Put them on the same shelf with your explosive rounds...  and leave them there.

- My tendency was using them on Heavy Vanguards with Blade Armor, but I will some Heavy Weapon Vaguards, too.

- Didn't mind the whole Volus Race, sorry for that. I will change that and give you more love and PEMs :wub:

 

I did tried it on the Collector, but without Power Amps his Dark Sphere Detonation seems to be a waste of time.

On topic: Power efficiency makes absolute sense on volus as you want to have the powers ready at the earliest possible time.  Come to think of it, I do this arm this instinctively without realizing why until now.  I'm very dependent on shield boost, cloak, and ruuuuuuuuun. :)

Basically, yes. She can walk both in sync and non-sync mode. It's important to differentiate between the two modes. That charge-up is a good tell. Usually when the Banshee gets engaged try to stop her in her tracks on a ramp or deal enough damage so she goes into warp ball mode. Then you can melee her or make love and whatever you want.

She will put up "the had of denial" against projectile powers, combos don't work well because of that - however, you can interrupt a warp ball cast with a projectile power and make her cancel the warp and you can talk to her hand - with bullets (good piercing can score double hits).

 

When she screams, she can teleport and sync again. And now you can also prime and detonate at will again.

But I like this Banshee Topic:

 

When not host (why do you play Vanguards off host anyway?), only BC into a Banshee when:

- she is sync killing an other player

- she throws the warp and you can dodge immediately

 

If you host:

- NEVER charge when she stops teleporting / starts walking / do melee

- it's quite save after her nova / she casts warps / on ramps (as long your not on the same level) / she is teleporting

 

Additional note:

- As soon as someone (can be an other player) is in sync-kill range she will enter her sync-primed stance.

- Imo it is not a bad Idea to force her "hand of deny" aura, as long as you have enough piercing to double hit her with weapons.

 

[edit]... :rolleyes: ... when I think about it, ... somewhere has to be a mistake, because they those Banshees grabs me very reliable!

I don't use them. I can find a use for every other gear consumable, but not the power efficiency.
