Power Efficiency Moduls,... What should I do with them?

When fighting a Banshee and she does her hand of denial, start backhanding her with style (she's out of sync kill mode when like that, so you're safe). As this forces her to Nova + you get dmg reduction from Heavy Melee so you can tank her. Once she starts the nova animation, you can Warp> PimpSlap > Shockwave biotic Combo finish. Just back away if she lives (unless on ramp), because she's now back in sync-kill mode again.

lol, she doesnt take melee damage with the hand of denial up :D

For "when the banshee is in sync kill mode" i really recommend deerber's vid.


OT, as said, usefull for caster with BW, javelin, claymore ... and u dont want or have cylconics/adrenaline and power amp is not usefull, cause those casted power deal shitty damage (Hsent, hdept, krodept ...).

First of all, lots of good info here as far as banshees go. So, if I understand all of this right, once the banshee does her nova, she is in non-sync mode.  Once she charges up and walks around, she can sync-kill you.  Yes?
 
On topic: Power efficiency makes absolute sense on volus as you want to have the powers ready at the earliest possible time.  Come to think of it, I do this arm this instinctively without realizing why until now.  I'm very dependent on shield boost, cloak, and ruuuuuuuuun. :)

Some veterans identify Banshees having 2 states : State 1) Teleporting, melee, walking and grab vs State 2) Standing, slow walking, warping, hand of denial (HOD), melee, throwing plates (nova ) at you. In both states she can have barriers.


I only watch for the belly charge. Charged vs non-charged.

I'm a simpleton looking for simple queues. So I'll rephrase your statement from my perspective a bit : while she is non-charged she can throw nova's which I can dodge.


If it's charged she can sync kill, if not she can do other stuff which I can avoid, or at least allow me to apply gel or ops. Moreever, if it is not charged I can allow myself to be much nearer.

If you allow her to charge again after working down her shields (ie like running too far away), her barriers will display a darker variant that require more effort to strip.

 

Her barriers are what they are, they don't change over time to become more resistant, they just refill (the same way your shield recharges). The darker color comes from the empty armor bars under the barriers overlay, you can often see the same thing on primes, atlases, phantoms etc.

Power efficiency modules are best on classes with Incinerate if you want to self-detonate fire explosions.  Any fractions of a second you can shave off your Incinerate cooldown will help with getting in under the priming window (which can be difficult if you have a heavy weapon).  My favorite use for them is with a Human Engineer with the Executioner (Heavy Barrel and Power Amp).  Just chain together fire explosions and tech bursts, firing the Executioner during each cooldown.  The PEM really helps this build.

^ Thought you were gonna say Volus Merc... I use em on Volus Merc & Shaman. Some other kits too, but works best of Shaman from my experience. ie. Try something like this; http://kalence.drupa...!!43C563!DGD.DP

His strength is in his massive dps with radius Warp> Shockwave combo. So the more often you can make that happen, the better. So Warp> Heavy Melee > Warp if they still live. Rinse repeat. Gun is just there to carry your Stunner (or glitch weight Desciple Omniblade, if you go 66666 glitch like me) and lame hacks and escorts where you're out of melee range.

I've used the shaman before. Most likely used power efficiency modules at some point. My problem is when getting BEs with the shaman becomes a mission with the snap freeze and flamer makes me wish I can headbutt my own teammates and give them a massive concussion from my bloodthirsty krogan shaman.

Don't think I said for dmg? Thought I said for dmg reduction (other enemies, her warp or melee, etc) and to be close enough to force her to Nova sooner, which would allow her to take dmg from Shamans main source of dps, the highest damaging biotic combo in the game of Warp>Shockwave. That's where his true strength lies. Why I suggest faster combos to be more effective for him then other kits.

 

That and Warp has a tendency to be dodged a lot, so being able to Warp again in 2 seconds is very sweet too.

 

 

 

So far my build on him doesn't even give him extra melee dmg in fitnees. Mostly use his heavy melee so far for dps reduction and because it feels good to pimp slap in between biotic combos.

I dissagree that the power efficiency moduls are useless, they give a flat cooldown encrease that equals the dmg pr sec of the total dmg of a power where the power encrease one only gives a percent of the base dmg. 
It is also the only consumable that have an effect on biotic and tec combos, they affect how fast you can generate combos, where the power dmg dont affect combo dmg at all. 
I would always take pem over pdm om almost all power classes, exept the huntress, merc ingy and demolisher.
Though as said here, adrenaline and cyclonic modulators are putting most other in the category in the background due to the great survivability they provide.

This is because its more frustrating to do her Barriers AGAIN!

 

Especially on Plat when they sometimes seems to instant recharge faster then you get them down. :unsure:

I just remembered another reason. The store gives you more amps and ammo over whatever you call the third slot. So you have to be more diverse in what you choose in the third slot. Why with new manifest accounts, I sometimes leave this slot empty even though I make use of every consumables in this third slot category. My most precious amp in this category is Adrenalin Mods. So I try to make sure it's the healthiest, but it always being in such high demand...

You can also tell which are my fave consumables because I still have level 2 versions of them. My least fave I usually have least or none (ie. no explosive ammo of any kind).

My biggest use for power efficiency modules is when I go PuGing with my Drell Assassin.

 

Before I quickmatch, I'll equip Power Efficiency III and Targeting III. That's because I don't care if I lose those by landing in a game in progress. And if I decide to go ahead with the game, they'll serve a useful function (if I land in a lobby, I switch to AM III and SRA III.)

 

The reason PE III is useful in that scenario is because the Drell Assassin, more than any other infiltrator, suffers from the Off Host Tactical Cloak bug. Getting stuck with a Remote Mine full refresh when you're carrying a HVB-Black Widow totally blows. I think it's 24 seconds, or something like that.

 

PE III doesn't solve the problem, but in my experience, getting the refresh time down to 16-18 seconds is very helpful if I end up in a game where it happens several times.

 

Of course, I wouldn't pick it for the DAI in any situation other than using Quick Match.

Yea, a bad thought trough fix for the lack og rewards for people that maxed their rares, every IV grade ammo is 150+ for me, power amps are 140 where as most IIIs are only in the 50'ies.

I like the Easter Egg with Power Efficiency Mods.  When you turn the controller upside down, for the entire duration your controller is upside down, your character's voice becomes like Pewdie Pie.  It's pretty hilarious, especially with the Quarian accents... for about 2 minutes.  I have to set it right-side up again before long.

I finally figured out why this happens (why they did it, who knows?).  The controller (at least, Xbox) is shaped like an M.  Turn it upside down, and it becomes a W.  The abbreviation for Power Efficiency Module is PEM.  Turn the M upside down, and you have PEW.

 

Those guys at Biovar have too much time on their hands.
