I'm about 12 hours in to the game so far and I would like to make a pros and cons list of all the thought's I've been having about the game.

-Pros
*Great storyline
*New shooting system is greatly improved from ME1
*Cover system is much better
*Being able to decorate Shepard's room is pretty cool
*Force powers are more useful
*Dialogue is much better
*Scanning planets for resources is a great minigame

-Cons
*Inventory system is practically gone. Although I thought the inventory system from ME1 was rather clunky and hard to deal with, I in no way wished it to completely vanish. Now all you're able to do is dress shepard in amor and casual. I really liked being able to customize my teamatess in ME,1 but now that that's not an option, I find that a large portion of the RPG experience has been ripped out of the game. I do understand why Bioware decided to remove it though and I accept that it was probably the easiest way to fix the invetory system but I stil have to dislike the new inventory system. Not being to acess items in the middle of a mission is sorta dissapointing and not being able to customize teamates is one of the biggest dissapointments I've had so far.
*I hate that I'm unable to remove the helmet from my terminus armor. I like seeing facial expressions so I don't even bother with the preorder terminus armor. I hope a patch comes out that allows the customization of preorder armor.
* I wish there were more dialogue options.
*Minigames need to be more challenging because as of now, they just fill like an interruption in the story. There so easy that sometimes I wonder, why bother?
*Economics in the game is compeltely screwed up

it appears you have accidentally put some cons in your pros list.

*New shooting system is greatly improved from ME1
*Cover system is much better
*Scanning planets for resources is a great minigame

these are all terrible, the ammo system is garbage and has no place in a mass effect game. the cover system is horrible.you always end up diving for cover when trying to run and flank an enemy and you can't aim around the corner unless you are positioned just right, an atom to the left or right and you are unable to aim around the corner. also i dunno about you guys but having to spend five minutes or so mining a planet to get barely any resources is boring as hell.

as an added con, shepard is now hella weak. in me1 i was damn near unstoppable, i could literally walk around in the open killing people, which as a level 60 with all the best equipment i should be able to. in this game i am max level and have almost all the best equipment and if i poke my head out for half a second i am almost dead. looks like the weapons, armor, and shields have regressed several hundred years during the two years shepard was dead.

I think the cover system is an improvement from ME1, however it's still rather hard to use, and the functionality seems to be lacking at some points.

Shooting is far superior in ME2, and if you think differently you're in the minority.

Scanning planets is iffy, and I don't like that I can't find any Element Zero, but I see what they're getting at.

if you think the shooting is better in me2 then you must have not had very good guns in me1, which bring another con. the lack of guns.

lets compare me1 and me2 shooting wise.

me1- my spectre assault rifle with its upgrades took 45 seconds to overheat was pin point accurate and could deal enough damage to take down a geth armature in a matter of seconds. also i had many many different upgrades i could apply to the gun

me2- you have to reload, i could stop there and the argument would be won but i'll continue. the assault rifles are ridiculously inaccurate, the only good one is accurate to about shotgun range. the guns also deal very little damage unless you score a headshot. there are just damage, accuracy, and power ammo upgrades available for you assault rifles.

the same applies for every other weapon type except for the new one.
