I am confused. I started playing DA:I again, noticed some changes, all cool. I was going to craft a demon fighting dagger for my DW rogue, just for fun, but the schematic creates daggers for 341 damage with dragon bone. My present blades;  add guard guard blade is over 400, and my masterwork blade is 433. Did they change schematics, or crafting? It isn't the runes

Need to know the exact schematics to tell for sure, but my guess is that the 341 is an AoE dual blade. They tend to have lower damage, mat for mat, than single blades.

Could also be critical crafting. What did you use in the masterwork?

Also, is that DPS or base damage? Check the base damage, that's more accurate.

I have two schematics for duel blades, Masterwork Duel Curved Blade  (from hissing I think) and Duel-Curved Blade. Both use 11 metal. The AOE for either 'clever moon' or 'sideways' is  comparable, but the dps for the named blades are listed as both over 400 with 32 dam runes (for like 370 dps actually). The new blade is listed as 341 dps

I had thought the hissing schematic was 13 metal, but that was like last year

Short answer is, lots of factors add up to DPS, so 400+ vs 341 might be totally legit, depending on all of the other characteristics of the weapons.

Don't bother listing out the details of each weapon, since no one really knows how DPS is calculated anyway. Which is why we use AoE/base damage for comparison. That is simply a factor of number of metal mats. If they are both 11, they both have the same AoE/base damage for the same mats. Since abilities, like Twin Fangs, are based on AoE/base damage, not DPS, it makes sense to just pay attention to base damage. Sure, DPS does count for auto-attacks, but your big damage will come from abilities.

Not sure what you mean by "named blades" vs. "new blade". Maybe the "named blades" were looted and the "new blade" was crafted? Schematics for crafting are listed here:

If you want to boost the DPS of crafted weapons, add some upgrades to it. I can't tell exactly how many points it will go up, but anything that helps Attack%, like Dex, or Criticals should increase it.
