He's not that simplistic once you get to know him.

I disagree. I did all of his dialogue and I found little growth in his character. The only thing that was resolved if you encouraged him to accept his N7 commendation or not because he blamed himself for his squad's death. He occasionally had something funny to say, but he's by far one of the more forgettable characters in the trilogy in my opinion.

Can Freddie Prinze Jr & Sarah Michelle Gellar PLEASE be the voices of male & female Ryder?

If we are to get more then 1 voice set(which I hope we do), then my 'Christmas' list would be:

Female Ryder - Denis Gough (my avatar pic says all)

Male Ryder - Steve Blum (because Spike Spigel, Wolverine, Vincent, because just his -hng- voice....-ehm-)

Unisex Voice For Ryder - Nolan North (because Nola North is AWESOME!)

Yes to Yen.

Yes to Spike/TOM from Toonami.

I guess yes to Nolan North, but he's a robot in disguise.

If there are two voices, I want Troy Baker and Nolan North to voice them.

I'm not sure about female voices though, since Bioware tends to recycle a lot of female voice actors.

I'm absolutely against Troy Baker. Nolan North is bad enough, but Troy Baker is in every video game. Somebody else needs some work to pay the bills!

Hopefully he'll be absent. Never been a particular fan.

When you have a sexy voice like Troy Baker, you can voice every character in a game for all I care. :P

Plus, we need an experienced voice for the protagonist, otherwise, we have Fallout 4 male protagonist that sounds like a bored white guy half the time. He can't control his emotions and jump all over the place. That was his first gig. i would rather have someone with a bit of experience to voice the protagonists.

Yeah. I think he's pretty overrated honestly. I'd probably actually really prefer unknowns rather than well-known voice actors. Whoever they pick, I hope they bring a presence to the role like Mark Meer and Jennifer Hale. I was not a fan of the male voice actors in DAI at all. I didn't like any of the voices.

In fairness, that's really the voice director's fault and not really the voice actor. It's up to the director to set the proper tone, give guidance, and get the right performance out of the actor. BGS had never done a voiced-protagonist before, so I don't really believe the voice director knew what he was doing.

Besides DAI, I think BioWare has done a pretty decent job with male voice actors. I just don't want someone who is forgettable, but has a distinct voice that can represent a wide variety of player characters.

The Iron Bull worked because he was never in Dragon Age before. They could have even had him in mind when they wrote and designed that character. Short of him putting on a voice (defeats the purpose of hiring celebrity vo's) or him reprising Vega or Bull I don't see him doing more voice-work for BioWare unless they bring him back for the new IP or STOR.

It would feel really odd and fourth-wall breaking like when you hear Hale or Meer attempt to pass for the odd NPCs in previous Mass Effect games, you know it's them and it's really distracting. The worse case was Brandon Keener in Fallout 4 - hearing Garrus's voice coming out of half of the NPCs in the common-wealth I could only rationalize it by explaining to myself that they were probably all escaped Synths with the same voice-chip.

I think he's talking about James Vega in ME3 and not The Iron Bull in DAI. The latter definitely wasn't a meat head, but the former pretty much was. Vega's character was pretty simplistic. He had a good heart and wanted to do the right thing; but besides cracking jokes and some hidden insecurities, there wasn't a lot to his character.

So it was Freddy playing himself (drum roll / rim shot).

I loved his VA for James and Bull.  He nailed James's accent, never overdoing the slight Latino twang he had going on.  I romanced Bull and and really enjoyed his voice so personally I'm a fan of his.

It's too simplistic to just write them both off as meat heads, there's more going on under the hood with both characters if you take the time to know them, especially Iron Bull.

However having heard him voice 2 major characters for the last 2 BioWare games, it may indeed be overkill to have him in a major role again.  I'd like some of the smaller VAs to get their chance to shine.

I'd love it if he appeared in a smaller role though.

He has worn out his welcome as a companion. I would like to see him as a mini-boss or something.

Not against it, he's very into video games himself and done a good job with both Vega and Iron Bull.

Probably not in MEA but probably yes in the new Bioware IP. Bioware like to reuse their VAs after all.

It would be cool if they brought him back. Vega was one of my favorite characters.

The only issue is that his voice is immediately recognizable and it would be a bit weird to have a new character that sounds just like Vega. If Bioware brings him back they should cast him as a Turian or Batarian, or some other alien that has the voice filter effect going on.

I know it's a long shot but I think I'd die and go to heaven if that were true!

Brian T Delaney has been in loads of games but I don't know that he ever voiced a playable character before. Regardless, I think he did a fine job in FO4. He had a good range of emotions which I'm beginning to realise is probably my number one personal requirement. I don't care how cool or sexy a voice sounds if the acting is like a talking plank of wood. Mark Meer's acting got so good in ME3 that it makes it hard to go back to ME1 or play another game where the PC talks with all the emotion of a carrot. There are 16 voice actors for the 8 different classes in SWTOR and while none of them are awful, some of them seem really bad compared to the stand-out stars that make the characters come alive.

Back on topic. I like FPJ and I really liked Vega. Everyone hates him but he was like my Shep's bro (I never use that word) and I never got all the Garrus love. My favourite, non-romance squadmates were probably Ashley, Miranda, Thane, Samara, James and Edi. I never really got attached to most of the "core" cast. Tali got about as much action as the hamster.

I didn't really like Bull or the voice Freddie did for him but I got used to it over time. If he comes back, then I'd rather he just use his normal speaking voice.

Two games makes him inevitable? Claudia Black has been in 4 of their 5 most recent games but no one is saying she's inevitable.

Mark Meer will be in ME:A he is BioWare's good luck charm.

Not that many people hate Vega actually. There are some who do, but they're just a very vocal minority. Whenever there has been a thread here discussing Vega there has been more people weighing in to say that they like the character than the reverse. The infographic Bioware released on Mass Effect 3 also had him as one of the most used squadmates, behind Liara and Garrus, and well ahead of both Ashley and Kaidan combined.
