Back in the day it was the token black guy inserted into films to increase the racial diversity of the piece, however these days whether it be games like Dragon Age, Mass Effect or Assassin's Creed or movies like Zoolander 2 it would seem that the trans person has taken that role, while it is nice to see that we are making progress by being more inclusive in our films and games I still feel there is more that can be done.

While I understand that the BSN is not ready for a trans protagonist there is no doubt in my mind that at least one of our squadmates in Andromeda will be trans, all I ask for is a little recognition for the otherkin community as well. Now it does not have to be a squadmate but even if it was a supporting character it would still be a good move forward, like perhaps the ships new medical officer or mechanic turns out to be otherkin and wears a tail on their belt or something, it would be great to be able to get to know them and eventually yiff them.

I mean are trans people and otherkin really that different? Both are trapped in a body that is not theirs, the only difference is one is trapped as the opposite sex the other is trapped in the body of a different species.

I understand the point you're trying to make. But, considering how your last thread that you started about having a trans protagonist got banned, I forsee this one getting banned as well. It's a controversial topic and the mods like to keep heated arguments out of the forums. Sorry for your frustration.

Why do people keep trying to find some equivalency for being black?

Oh that got closed because of trolls and bigots spamming, I would hate to think that Bioware would put trans people in their games but disallow their discussion on their forums, it would be a tad hypocritical don't you think?

I see no problem with a forum post about a trans protagonist. But like I said, this is a controversial topic, and therefore, BSN members will spam and be immature about it.

Welcome to the internet.

I merely wish I could express my own opinion on it without getting warning points on the issue regardless of phrasing. I violate no rules in expressing it and yet it 'hurts' people's feelings so it is shunned. So I don't participate in such discussion usually, not in plain sight anyway.  o.o Of course here I am now though talking about that opinion, oh well people can get over the fact folks believe and think different things. I'm off that opinion anyway.

Bioware needs to ban people by IP, I can already see a lot of opportunists use this troll threads to insult others.

Don't worry I learned my lesson that the BSN is not ready for a trans protagonist, this thread has nothing to do with the last thread and nothing to do with a trans protagonist, it is about otherkin in a supporting role.

I know....it's a crying shame. That's why I'm being cryptic as well. I am a straight, married woman, but I understand the importance of these topics. Strictly monitored forums that are supposed to be on topic just aren't the place for them. :)

Good luck, though. I feel like since they put Krem in Dragon Age Inquisition, they will put a trans character in Andromeda. And that's all I'm going to post in here.

I'm not sure if this is a slip up or on purpose, but a blind person can see this post has troll written all over it.

I don't think anyone has ever had to "come out" as black to their parents. Maybe under some very extreme circumstances. Like their parents were blind. And didn't know they were black.

We already had a trans companion in ME3, her name was Ashley.

Oh definitely and I likely won't care, like Krem it will be some minor thing that probably be handled maturely.(though I will not hide displeasure at limited responses in regard to it) I honestly don't care, but the thing about appearance in video games is always odd to me. Why not showcase the end result? I mean why do the in between thing? I mean in Krem's case it made sense, DA is set in a world where that isn't a thing. But...Mass Effect is set in a universe where they have extreme advances in medical tech. That's one opinion of mine on the issue, why show the middle phase or the start of it when you can put up the result?

Hey guys. This is your minute-ly reminder that this is a troll thread. Since you obviously can't tell on your own, and i'm sure people won't keep telling everyone ad nauseum so I thought i'd help out. See you in a minute for the next one!

There is literally no reason for anyone to be trans in ME universe, not in our understanding of the word. If it was possible to reconstruct shepard from bits and pieces it is definetely possible to get the surgery done quickly and without obvious signs like today. They can manipulate DNA creating clones and completely genetically engineered people like Miranda they can surely make a man into a woman and a woman into a man(physically) with little trouble.
