When do you know you're ready for perilous?

How many promotions/gear is recommended? Sometimes its a bit hard to tell if you're actually ready or getting carried in a match.
I'm currently 10/16/10 ( not great i know ).
Arcane Warrior
Level 23 Veil staff
Drake Armor
Accessories are about irrelevant since they are random junk.

But that's only if you want to contribute. If you just want to be carried then having drakescale alone is sufficient to avoid constant dying and let's you have some fun in perilous assuming someone else in the party will do the carrying.
Let's face it, just about any veteran can carry perilous without any issues...

Everyone has to start somewhere and Arcane Warrior is a good choice.
Grab Fade Shield (barrier)(level 2) and Gathering Storm (level 3) and you should be fine in a group. Chain Lightning upgrade will help.
In all honesty I can't say for sure as when we did perilous we didn't have the armour buff.

Yeah, and it varies class by class.
But, this is a team game and a lot of it IS based on the team you are with. I have run through nightmare runs where I was #1 or #2 on the leader board and it felt like a threatening bout.. just good chemistry and slowing stepping through it. Then I have played perilous runs where I really did wonder if it was nightmare or heartbreaker.
So, just because you fail when one random set of pugs, doesn't mean you aren't ready.

LOL yeah.. that's what you told me last year.... Come join my nightmare game and get free xp... just bring your duelist and bolt from a distance and you don't need promotion. Join game... bolt bolt.... died. Oops.. revived... bolt bolt bolt.. died... Oops.. revived....okay I am just going to stay here in this corner.... died... okay I will see you at the door to the next zone. ![]()
But seriously I think OP has a much better chance to survive and contribute as a saarebot in perilous. I think a good test is that if you could solo a treasure room guarded by the 3 random foes, you could play in that difficulty and probably not die too much.

You are ready for Peri when you have drakescale armour for that class, lv20 plus purple weapons (excluding berserk ones) and some healing stats (heal on kill or heal on hit).
But that's only if you want to contribute. If you just want to be carried then having drakescale alone is sufficient to avoid constant dying and let's you have some fun in perilous assuming someone else in the party will do the carrying.

I currently have a rare ( blue ) staff level 23. Think that'll be sufficient? The only healing item i have found is a level 15 staff that heals on hit 1% max hp.
I'd like to contribute to the team, but it seems quite far right now it seems.
Side Question: Do you folks promote and stay in the same ( Perilous ) lobby or quit and go lower yup level? Not quite sure what the norm is.

I have yet to unlock that character, but seen one assist the team incredibly with her buffs. Is she any fun to play?

The one perilous match i joined i felt completely and utterly unneeded. They ran through enemies like a bulldozer as i pathetically tried to poke them ( this was on my old staff common level 20 though ).

i played threatening for a while, went into peril occasionally to test , but really wen ur comfortable with threatening probs means ur gd for peril, aka sum1 goes down u can revive without dying or just the whole match goes sideways and u manage to take care of it without much problems , some classes are stronger than others that allow u to move up a difficulty

Not really got anything to add here apart from, you'll get a feel for the character you're using at the time to know if they're ready to increase difficulty, but nothing ever hurt from giving it a try & you'll get more xp & thus be able to promote faster anyway.
That's just my little titbit

Exactly. Veterans with reasonable promotions and Hakkon weapons can mostly likely 1 shot perilous enemies easily, and by this stage you are pretty likely to run into those veterans from perilous pugs. The one perilous match i joined i felt completely and utterly unneeded. They ran through enemies like a bulldozer as i pathetically tried to poke them ( this was on my old staff common level 20 though ).
There is little point in trying to contribute in that situation, just enjoy the free ride. Just smash some pots and pick up torch.
Unless you have lv25 plus purple weapons and decent promotions I won't even bother trying to compete for kills with them.

Lol I think that must have been a long time ago. But on FC if you fall too far away from other players random spawns will aggro on you... Guess that's why. And holding aggro as a duelist is probably not a great idea either.LOL yeah.. that's what you told me last year.... Promote and stay in the same lobby.
Most people tend to stay unless it's been a really horrible match.

Lots of fun to play and not as complicated as it looks at first glance.
One of the strongest AND most fun characters to play in the game.

My standard claims you're ready for Perilous when playing on Threatening becomes boring.

Accesories definitely help.
I was in the same boat until last weekend, when a superb belt of health, superb amulet of stamina, enhanced ring of life steal all dropped. While these improvements where really good, im still not perilous solo material by any means, but I can survive and do my part in damage on my warriors/rogues with teammates that are at least above ground. If my teammates are all dead then yeah...im probably gonna die too.
I also believe knowledge of enemy attacks, resistances, vulnerabilities is really good to have. Helps you identify the biggest enemy threats. Helps you dodge incoming attacks that can be avoided. Like the qunari shock trooper, if you see one point at you and/or some red appears around you, move, or your gonna get smashed. Not all attacks can be avoided but, from what I have seen there are many that can be.
Im at 16/23/22 and I have been getting more and more comfortable running perilous, but it is highly subjective on the kit I am using.

Didn't our self proclaimed 'god' say you needed 50/50/50 before even thinking about attempting Perilous ? or was it 100/100/100 ?
I can't find the post.....
EDIT: for the record, you can play Perilous at 10/10/10 as a barrier class just fine imho
