When you can stand in the middle of a horde and can still go afk without dying, then yeah, you are as ready as you can...
I can do that in routine, does that mean I'm NM ready?

if you are playing PUGs, I think you should be in the region of 35/35/35 stats to be on the safe side.

Actually, it's the opposite... The Necro is shy, it's just that everything else just gotta come pay you a visit!

When you can solo threateaning.
I am pretty sure that needs a qualifier... like under X minutes.. or with archer....because everyone could solo threatening using lego with T2 armor if there is no time limit. ![]()

Very early, I could hold my own in Perilous with Legionnaire. I wouldn't do any damage, but I could just about live forever with only a few levels at low promotions. I even saved a few TPKs.
Same with AW, with a good high level staff (Staff of Stasis was my go to for a long time), you can contribute damage and stay alive a good while with just a few levels.
It's really the gear that dictates. If you have a high level weapon with a good proc that aids surviveability, with at least tier 2 armor, tier 3 or Dragonscale best scenario, you should be good to go in Perilous.
He won't solo perilous, but he can survive and contribute on a team.

Managed to get a superb belt of the winter pact.
Equiped it to my lvl 8 AW. Along with barrier ring, and chain lightning ring. Ice staff, im using Yavanalis for now. Was using the mindchill staff.
Im just using fade step as an attack spell, I take stonefist at some point. For the most part as long as I keep attacking I can hold my own in perilous. Sadly, if someone else goes down I either have to kill everything even faster, or time picking them up really well. A decent cooldown amulet would help this build survive better. Fire dragon stamper. Ice dragon I use stonefist/sword/CL. Lightning dragon, spirit damage is huge on this one so he's not really a problem either. Have to stay clear of standing in lightning.
Qunari can combo and kill me. Assassin dispel > shock troop flying teabag > death. Either I get lucky with a sword swipe immediately after the dispel, OR I can hit fade cloak and be safe. Really fun build actually.

If you have the Heart of Despair staff, put that and the belt on a Necromancer with a full cold build.. that is fun. ![]()

Besides the obvious of not dieing.
How many promotions/gear is recommended? Sometimes its a bit hard to tell if you're actually ready or getting carried in a match.
I'm currently 10/16/10 ( not great i know ).
Arcane Warrior
Level 23 Veil staff
Drake Armor
Accessories are about irrelevant since they are random junk.
- King
My promotions are not much better than yours... My question is the Arcane Warrior the only class you have?
Otherwise, you will be fine and be able to contribute without issue.
if you are playing PUGs, I think you should be in the region of 35/35/35 stats to be on the safe side.
I lol'd at this. I must have been carried through all of the Perilous PuG matches I've played then since I don't even have half of that...

Honestly, it depends on the character. For example, AW, Lego, and Hunter can hold up solid with straight 10's for perilous. It just depends on how you build the character or so on. Otherwise it is fair to say that you should only be playing threatening, perilous, and possibly above when the character you are using has drake scale armor. With the Drake scale armor you pretty much take no damage in threatening with exception of the Qunari leapers, Darkspawn bolters and other hard hitting enemies.
So a good 15/15/15 should get you the drake scale for all characters, meaning you should be fine starting lv. 1 in threatening and going to perilous once lv 6-8-10 depending on the character.

Yeah, so part of the answer is it depends on your class. I think Legionnaire, Arcane Warrior, and Silent Sister are ready to take into perilous with very few promotions by level 14 or so. After that list, I would say Reaver, Elementalist, and Keeper are pretty easy, but a few promotions certainly helps.
As you get more promotions you will just start to feel more comfortable switching to perilous at lower and lower character levels until eventually you will have several characters you are comfortable starting at level 1 in perilous... that may take some time to really feel comfortable with it though.

I have yet to feel comfortable with any of my agents at level 1 in perilous.
I do feel very comfortable in threatening with any of my level 1's. ![]()
