As lovely as dark hair is, it's a shame that Mass Effect lore tends to consider blonde hair so extremely scarce. I believe Kahlee Sanders and Conrad Verner might be the only prominent blond NPCs of the Mass Effect universe, so it would be nice to encounter at least one more. Perhaps as a squad member.

Let's try this again, and hopefully we can keep it civil. I request that we avoid any claims suggesting that hair color is in some way connected to intelligence, though you are of course entitled to make any argument you please, silly as they may be.

While I'm at it, I would like to express my hope for a platinum blonde option in the CC.

Edit Part 1:

To clarify regarding lore, Mass Effect fake science suggests that human genes are becoming progressively more homogenous, and that natural blondes are nearly nonexistent by the time Shepard is doing their thing. I am in fact, aware of this, and I do need it explained to me.

Edit Part 2:

Thank you, Wallcrofts. Yes, he was. I don't know how I managed to forget Conrad.

I edited the OP to include him.

She was in her concept art, I think.

Didn't one of the Karpyshyn books establish blonde hair as an incredibly rare trait in present day humanity? For whatever reason, although that might be one way to explain the dearth of blondes. Also that all the blonde hair looked ass ugly in ME1-3.

They're all dyed and they all spend too much time on their hair to be useful in combat. We need combat efficient brunettes and red heads.

This is not an unreasonable prediction, given that a lot of the genes that determine blonde hair pigmentation are recessive. It is expected that natural blondes will decline (further) in number even in the real world.

THat said, with the amount of pigment alteration that is apparently going on in the ME universe and given how many people dye their hair even today, I don't see why we shouldn't encounter more blondes. How about someone with blue/green hair?

I'm a raven with white skin, but I love dying my hair blonde and love the color on anyone! I think blonde heroes are juuust fine. Samus is one of the best examples of a badass blonde. Though intelligence is stereotypically connected to hair color, hair color does not make your personality, you do.

I would love if we could dye our hair. It wouldn't even be that hard. Just do what they did in DAI with things like eye color, where there are presets but if you want you can use the color wheel to make them the color you want.

I vaguely remember reading somewhere that the lack of blonde hair in game was based around the (unlikely) possibility of disappearing recessive genes like blonde hair.  Other than that though, there really is no reason not to have more.

Yeah I agree Buffy was one of my favourite blonde heroes too. i've always had abit of a soft spot for blondes. Not suer why though. My first Inquisitor on DAI that I created was a blonde as well.

-snip-

He's right though. I'm blonde myself but asking for blondes in video games is a massive double-edged sword which could backfire on you.  If....swords were firearms for some reason.  But anyway, my point is blonde characters in video games are always hit or miss-by-a-country-mile.  If you don't get the textures or color shade EXACTLY right, your character either looks like he just got back from a trip to California or...he looks like he has a dead light- colored furry creature on his head.

I honestly don't blame developers for sticking with dark-haired protagonists.  It is so much simpler.  Hard enough as it is to program hair period. Ask Bioware, they'll tell you stories for HOURS.

I think having blondes be rare in the era Mass Effect is set was an example of the writers using lore to cover up for the failings of the old engine. The real reason for the lack of blondes is that blonde hair looked the least natural by far in the original game.

It's also based on bad science that many people commonly believe.

On that note...can we please add disappearing blondes to the list of things the Andromeda writers should quietly pretend was never written into the series in previous games.

That is effing hilarious.  Why is Bioware so racist against blondes?  They need to check their privilege.

I don't really care what color someone's hair is. I'm more interested in seeing new, exotic aliens than I am in seeing humans with different colored hair. You can make your protagonist have blonde hair to make up for the lack of representation! Or just mod the game so everybody has blonde hair!
