That girl on those gifs looks awesome, but unless you know for a fact that it's her natural hair color, I wouldn't say it is. It looks like a good dye job on someone with brown hair. I mean, I don't care either way and actually think dyed hair looks better, I'm just saying....
I just started a playthrough with a blonde Shepard and the hair looks sooooo shiny and plastic in ME3 (I liked it in ME2 though, it looked like a platinum dye job with some roots showing). I guess that's the reason you can't see many blondes in ME, they saw how horrible it looked too.
I liked blond on ME2, though yep it really looked like bit older dye job- not bad thing necessarily. ME3 lacked the same hairstyle I had used and I don't really like the options there- color might factor in that.

I just want them to add back the natural red head (aka ginger) hair options. That annoyed me in ME 3 when I when to import my female character that there was no natural red head option, instead it looked more like that fake dyed red hair. I am assuming they will have it back in ME:A since in was in DA:I.
The majority of humans will have dark hair since the vast majority now have dark hair and it will only grow in the future. Heck, by as far in the future as ME is there unfortunately may not be any natural blondes or redheads. Only other character I can think of in ME, besides who OP put, who does not have dark hair is Kelly Chambers.

If you go global and don't just limit it to people of African descent, there are black people who are natural blondes.
Blonde hair is common in some parts of Papua New Guinea.
Racial speaking melansieans are neither congoid or capoid therefore not black. They are similar to Australian aborigines and Southern Indians - australoids.

...why are there so many hair-weirdos here? What does it even matter if she's a natural blonde?

She doesn't need be a natural blonde. Just statistically speaking there is a lower likely hood for a non dark haired person by the 2180's and who knows maybe hair dye is found to be unhealthy by then.
It just seems to be a theme in ME games that there are not a lot of non-dark haired people. I can only think of 3 in the whole game, like I said. In comparison for DA you have Alistair, Leliana, Oghren, Zevran, Anders, Aveline, Varric, Sera, Cole, Cullen, etc. I would completely support a blonde character in ME:A if they had one.

It doesn't matter at all, just pointing out that most of the blonde examples is in fact dyed hair and that just got me thinking how the whole thing, the "explanation" in-game actually sounds pretty stupid. It was sheer laziness, nothing else. I mean, even if by some magic there are no more natural blondes in MEU, there's still hair dye, sheesh...

I went for a sarge cut for my Shepard in a new playthrough of ME2. The hair textures, provided they're anything but blonde, in ME3 are not that bad. But in ME2 they all look like a plastic poodle on top of the scalp. Next to no texture or depth and shiny to make matters worse.

And since it's future I bet hair-dying is even easier for them. Actually it's weirder that there is no more shock haircolors around in ME than that blond isn't natural hair color anymore due to genetics.

I want to be able to change my hair color like she changes her nails...
or we can use magic...

The disappearance of blonde or red hair is a myth.
The disappearing blonde gene was a hoax about a scientific study had estimated that natural blonds would become extinct, repeated as fact in reputable media such as the BBC and the Sunday Times between 2002 and 2006. Claims that blond hair would disappear have been made since 1865.[1] According to the erroneous reports, the World Health Organization, or other experts, published a report claiming that people with blond hair "will become extinct by 2202".
Neither the WHO nor any reputable expert has issued such a report. Those who commented on this alleged report were asked by the WHO to retract.
The extinction claim is based on a misinterpretation of recessiveness in genetics. In reality, unless blond genes are positively selected against, blondeness will not disappear.
The story of redhead extinction has gone around the Internet before, most recently in 2005, with news articles again citing the Oxford Hair Foundation as a source. These articles work on the mistaken assumption that recessive genes -- like the one for red hair -- can "die out." Recessive genes can become rare but don't disappear completely unless everyone carrying that gene dies or fails to reproduce. So while red hair may remain rare, enough people carry the gene that, barring global catastrophe, redheads should continue to appear for some time.

There is also a lower likelyhood of white people being visibly present by 2180 due in part to non-whites having higher fertility rates.

As lovely as dark hair is, it's a shame that Mass Effect lore tends to consider blonde hair so extremely scarce. I believe Kahlee Sanders and Conrad Verner might be the only prominent blond NPCs of the Mass Effect universe, so it would be nice to encounter at least one more. Perhaps as a squad member.
Let's try this again, and hopefully we can keep it civil. I request that we avoid any claims suggesting that hair color is in some way connected to intelligence, though you are of course entitled to make any argument you please, silly as they may be.
While I'm at it, I would like to express my hope for a platinum blonde option in the CC.
Edit: To clarify regarding lore, Mass Effect fake science suggests that human genes are becoming progressively more homogenous, and that natural blondes are nearly nonexistent by the time Shepard is doing their thing. I am in fact, aware of this, and I do need it explained to me.
I was hoping that default FemShep was gonna be blonde like the preset we voted for on Facebook years ago but then that didn't happen so sure, I'm down for more blondes in the franchise. Whether or not I get the next game.

I wonder why we didn't get her... oh because of the same people who think blonde 'females' are not important on the franchise, cause ya know - blonde.
Sighs.

It was the butthurt SJW backlash against blonde women. Since those morons would rather tear other people down than bring everyone up, blonde women are an affront to Social Justice. And BioWare caved.

Default femshep in ME3 was chosen by facebook voting. First they held a round to pick her overall look, then they held a second round of voting for hair colour. Not so much an SJW backlash as popular opinion being that red is prettier.
Not that she ended up looking that much like the art anyway.

Frankly, the polls was more about hairstyle. Default femshep in ME1 and ME2 have always been white, red-headed with green eyes.

Source? I'm prepared to accept I'm wrong but all I remember from the time is that Red 5 won in a landslide, and my half hearted googling didn't find anything about it being rigged.

I can confirm that blonde won by a country mile and BioWare changed it to red because of the backlash from SJW morons. It was a big thing on the old BSN at the time.

Blonde won, and then there was demand to do over the vote.
I'm not convinced that it was so much about blondness being perceived as offensive as it was a tendency to perceive red hair as less mainstream, and therefore more appealing in a scifi franchise.
