Why does nobody in the future believe in hair dyes? Especially when you consider that there is technology, according to Mass Effect Revelations, there exists ways of altering ones facial structure and hair color/consistency, eye color, etc, in a matter of hours, minutes for black market technology, with no health repercussions at all. You'd figure someone would believe in dying their hair blue or pink or purple or fluorescent lavender that acutallly glows in the dark.

But no. Everyone just believes in going all natural, for some reason. Guess peer pressure really gets to you when you're the only species in the whole galaxy with hair.

I'm hoping BioWare's artistic integrity gives us turian and drell ladies with metallic carapace or scaley boobs, cute thick metallic carapace or scaley booties, and long blonde silky hair plus lipstick.

I'm surprised this isn't a thing for asari...

Blond, brunette, redhead...doesn't really matter as long as I don't see the hair absurdity that was DAI.

f*ck blonde hair, i want more blue hair in ME:A  or some sexy female aliens without hair

also funny that, in bioware´s opinion, threads like this (though there are much worse threads) are of a so much higher value for the forums then numerous threads in the killed offtopic-forum were. bioware, i will never understand you.

How about some blonde MEN!

Spoiler

The last two are arguably sandy haired, but they do have that "summer blonde" thing going on.

That's what I was getting at. Mention blonde hair and suddenly everybody jumps on the "blondes are idiots" bandwagon.

That's some bullsh*t right there. I'm glad I wasn't around for that nonsense. This is why I'm not a fan of being diplomatic to customers, because customers are a-holes lol

ME3 should've had that blonde female lead to stick it to the idiots who give blondes a hard time. You'd think Bioware of all people would've stood up for them. But I didn't see a single peep mentioned about it, it was as if the blonde bashing didn't exist or they never saw it. But then after the poll reopened and the redhead won everyone at Bioware was like, "Yay! I wanted a redhead to win the whole time!"

If thats the case, just put one in the game instead of doing a poll.

To be honest, I felt the whole idea of letting fans vote on the look of the face of FemShep was just a bad idea. I think the designers should decide, and not leave it up to the fanbase. I feel that the designers meant well, but it was a pretty terrible idea. They should have realized that it was going to backfire big time, and it did. That was certainly a failed experiment. We have enough drama on the BSN without something so silly and so avoidable taking place.

From what I read, it wasn't just the "blondes are bimbos" cries that were prevalent. I read a lot of outcry saying that, "they are just going with the white female ideal. They are pandering to the white male straight base. How dare they?" Give me a freaking break. So much stress over hair, and I'm sure that it wasn't just straight/bi men that were voting for it.

I think that for the radicals, it's all about equality...so long as it doesn't cross the line of what they think is wrong. Blonde with blue eyes is bad because it's too "mainstream." It's a hypocritical mindset, and I say this as a liberal feminist. Blonde or red or black hair isn't a battle worth having imho. I've see a lot more series over the last 10 years that have women with a variety of looks. Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill.

I think the hair/eye color issues could have been easily solved by making the default Shep customizable. It seems that BW got the hint in DA:I, where we could customize our Hawke using the default face. Such a simple solution that could have saved everyone a lot of grief. Devs, if you still lurk in these threads at all, take note of that. It was one of the few things that the ME team could learn from DA:I's development.

Anyhow, how 'bout dem blondes? We've covered everything from simple preferences to debunking science from 2005 to Godwin. Say what you will about ME fans, we are a very passionate bunch. Even if it's taken to almost absurd degrees. ;)

I think that FB is capable of good hair, but BW is pretty weak at hair. Always has been. I think it's a texture and shading problem, and if we can tweak the high/lowlights of the hair, it could produce relatively natural looking colors.

Oh God, don't get me started on the people back then that were like, "Bioware should make this poll exclusive to women, men shouldn't decide what the female lead will look like" Cries of sexism and other things.

Really?

Tbh, the only valid reason for being angry about the default femshep face (blonde AND red) is the people who played with default Jane and found their character to be completely different from the one they used to have, that was completely unfair. I know I've flipped my **** when I booted up ME3, and my character was transferred badly from ME2, I felt like I lost her. Thank God for "lazarus project" app. For me it was the equivalent of changing actors in the middle of the movie.

Thank you.  Sometimes it feels like women don't appreciate enough blonde men.  When that movie with Chris Evans and Mad Max (can't even remember his name) released, people kept ogling over Max but rarely over Evans.  Like, goddamn, blonde men are the unsung subset of men it seems.

I have always loved most black hair and green eyes combo on men(which is too rare), in my case I just prefer dark eyes because it is cute.

But regarding hair...hell I love redheads, all my characters in games are readheads and I always found blonde people extremely beautiful. When it comes to hair colors I always found brown hair(brunette) boring because it is too common and I'm no fan of too common things, they are always boring to me. Don't take this wrong not that I don't find brunettes attractive(still would go with Hugh Jackman over many other boys), just find hair color very boring because it can be found on every angle around you. As for 'Mad Max' thing I think the other guy you may are talking about is Tom Hardy? Anyway I don't see anything special about him that touches my inner 'fangirl' in here....Chris on another hand...

Those whitewashed DAI pics are not mods. They're just "fan" art. Somebody just painted over the promo pics. If White Dorian/VIv/Josie mods exist I haven't seen them and I know most mods that are about. If they exist, the people making/using them are quite rightly keeping it to themselves, thank God.

The DA2 mods are a thing though.

As for blonds. I normally make my characters blond with blue eyes because I have boring brown hair and brown eyes. My SWTOR roster was starting to look a little Aryan Nation before I started making alien characters.

Thats what killed ME3 right from before the game began for me. 27 playthroughs with the same dude throughout ME1 and ME2, but only at the end of his journey they tell me I can't use him and somebody else is gonna finish his story. F that. I ended up beating ME3 the first time with VanderShep because of it. I was PISSED. It threw off my enjoyment entirely.

Anyway, here are some of my characters in games(not necessarily just Bioware).

ME1-ME2(had to be redesigned in ME3 a bit because Bioware did a horrible thing), Reddish/brown hair

Spoiler

Kingdoms of Amalur:Reckoning, Red hair

Spoiler

Dragon Age Inquisition, Blonde hair

Spoiler

Grand Theft Auto V, Red hair

Spoiler

What I don't have images for at the moment is my blue haired character in Sunset Overdrive, my black and dark brown haired characters in DAO and DA2, my strawberry blonde haired character in Skyrim, etc etc.

Actually, back during the Facebook poll for FemShep someone did a strawberry blonde edit of the winning option. I would've liked to see that.

You must be talking about this:

I think I recall seeing this even before game was out. So my thoughts someone was just trolling in order to get reaction, but it was never mod because as I said this was on internet way before game was even out to be called mod, just 'clickbait' nothing more.

Hair color is in some way connected to intelligence.

Am I doing it right?

:) Got that one (everyone else too i think), but i'm kind of the opposite of blonde though, that should explain it i think ;)

Tbh, I thought Dorian was a white guy already... Maybe it's the lighting.

By the way, about that FemShep pic... I thought that by voting for it, we'd get a longer hairstyle like Ashley's. The end result in the game looked nothing like the pic, though.

Dorian definitely wasn't white. As for the longer hairstyles, Bioware still seems incapable or unwilling to have decent long hair in their games. Too much out of the budget probably considering hair physics and such.

Are you so sure he isn't white?

Dorian-gallery-04.jpg

Tevinter is based off of the Roman Empire, with their roots stemming from Ancient Greece. Even if he wasn't meant to be ethnically Roman, it's quite easy to see various European influences in his facial structure. He may have a darker skin tone, but I think most would likely argue Dorian is "white" in the sense of how most people understand the term. He certainly isn't black.

This guy makes me excited and scared at the same time. I would love to have a charmingly terrifying & morally gray character who looked like Mads, tbh. He is universally f-uckable by every single person on the planet, imo.

Yeah, I never believed that Dorian was anything else than white. I totally understand why there are so many who are mistaken about him honestly. Just remove the stache :

Spoiler

Dorian isn't caucasian white, but he could be easily taken for a medditerranean guy, like a quite dark skinned italian or greek. There are many out there like that. Several times I thought some were muslim because of their olive skin, while actually they were italians. Dorian is even paler than many of them lol. And since Tevinter is supposed to be based on the Roman empire..I wondered if Bioware didn't rather intend to give him a medditerranean look during the development, before finally stating that Dorian wasn't white...
