I just don't understand why this thread is so contentious.
It's just hair.

Are you so sure he isn't white?
*snip*
Tevinter is based off of the Roman Empire, with their roots stemming from Ancient Greece. Even if he wasn't meant to be ethnically Roman, it's quite easy to see various European influences in his facial structure. He may have a darker skin tone, but I think most would likely argue Dorian is "white" in the sense of how most people understand the term. He certainly isn't black.
Yeah, I never believed that Dorian was anything else than white. I totally understand why there are so many who are mistaken about him honestly. Just remove the stache :

Dorian isn't caucasian white, but he could be easily taken for a medditerranean guy, like a quite dark skinned italian or greek. There are many out there like that. Several times I thought some were muslim because of their olive skin, while actually they were italians. Dorian is even paler than many of them lol. And since Tevinter is supposed to be based on the Roman empire..I wondered if Bioware didn't rather intend to give him a medditerranean look during the development, before finally stating that Dorian wasn't white...
When I see Dorian, I see tan/brown. To me calling him white is like calling Omar Epps white. My head tilts in confusion.

You've never heard of Caucasians getting a tan in the sun? Are they no longer white because their skin tone has become a few shades darker? Is that your line of reasoning? Skin tone does not denote race. This is a common misconception. Just because you are dark doesn't mean you are black. The same can be said for if you are too light doesn't mean you are white.
i think its funny that this topic has three anonymous followers.
Is this an american thing? Because in Europe it's considered white-- like Italians, Arabs, other Mediterranean skin tones....

White, as in belongs to the white ethnicity / group. There are many greeks and italians who are quite dark skinned ( with white features ), and yet you wouldn't categorize them as " black ", or people of color, I think. There is variety among white people as much as there is variety between black people, or between southern asians with the skin. That's why the words caucasian ( north and easthern of europa for example ) and mediterranean ( Italia, Spain, Greece, etc ) are important. It implies that there is a sub-category within the same group.
Now, I'm m going to show the opposite. Tristin Mays A native african american coming from Louisania, , a black woman with black features while her skin is quite very pale :

Despite her pale skin, when I looked at her the first time I've seen her, i could immediately see without knowing her that she was black or at the very least metis, a woman of color. Or if you prefer an example within a game, Josephine in DA:I for example.
A for Dorian, there another pic :

You will agree with me that the inquisitor is white ? Dorian doesn't seem at all more brown than him. Now if he was intended to look like southern asian, I personally didn't see it.
Be that as it may, this is Mass Effect Andromeda. Not DA:I
Nor is the topic "what is Dorian's Ethnicity/skin colour?"
I've read the OP, is the next 17 pages just people agreeing that there should be more people with blonde hair in the game?
I just hope that this thread hasn't been mistaken for a advocating less racial diversity among the cast of characters, because that's not my intention at all.
@Kantr
Actually, it's a little more controversial than that. There are an inordinate number of posts from people who wanted to thoroughly demonstrate how very little concern they have for this subject, and then there are people who question the worthiness of such a request in the first place.
Then there's all the very relevant debates regarding the degree to which social sensitivity is destroying gaming culture.
On the other hand, sometimes there are pictures and gifs.
@Nat- Lucy Lawless was so fantastic in Spartacus. I can't decide whether I like her better with dark or blonde hair.
Why does nobody in the future believe in hair dyes? Especially when you consider that there is technology, according to Mass Effect Revelations, there exists ways of altering ones facial structure and hair color/consistency, eye color, etc, in a matter of hours, minutes for black market technology, with no health repercussions at all. You'd figure someone would believe in dying their hair blue or pink or purple or fluorescent lavender that acutallly glows in the dark.
But no. Everyone just believes in going all natural, for some reason. Guess peer pressure really gets to you when you're the only species in the whole galaxy with hair.
I hope in MEA there is the option to have unnatural hair color. It wouldn't be hard, just in the CC have the color wheel be allowed on the hair like they have for eyes and makeup in DAI. We already kind of had it in ME3, since I know Femshep at least had access to pink and purple as hair color options.
I want a blonde nerd, male of female, doesn't make a difference. Maybe science type or good with gadgets. I've never seen this show, but something like this:
Huge-ass glasses, good looking and smart.

She will always be Xena for me.. so dark ![]()
I just caught up on the last several pages of this thread. I thought I'd purged that FemShep poll melodrama from my memory, but no. I'm not usually very critical of the BSN, since it's one of the nicer places on the internet imo. But damn I was embarassed and annoyed to be here in those dark days. ![]()

Oh, they look adorable! I'd be quite happy with either. Maybe there could be a nerdy blond pilot who's really good with tech? Or an engineer?
It's kind of a shame they never had EDI use her 'infiltration' purposes to make herself blonde. Just as an option or for specific occasions (like visiting the Citadel). If you're going to lift stuff from BG, might as well go all the way.
Not to mention that EDIs voice is the one and only Caprica 6 ![]()
I also wouldn't mind an older blonde, like:

Gillian turned me kind of bi when I was 12, and she only keeps getting better. They both probably bathe in the blood of virgins.

My daydream for a blonde ME companion is a British female engineer voiced by Emily Blunt.
Or Jo Wyatt, but I'd really prefer her for the player character.
