I don't really care what color someone's hair is. I'm more interested in seeing new, exotic aliens than I am in seeing humans with different colored hair. You can make your protagonist have blonde hair to make up for the lack of representation! Or just mod the game so everybody has blonde hair!

Ah yes, the Aryan race mod. Master race in space yo! :P

As lovely as dark hair is, it's a shame that Mass Effect lore tends to consider blonde hair so extremely scarce. I believe Kahlee Sanders and Conrad Verner might be the only prominent blond NPCs of the Mass Effect universe, so it would be nice to encounter at least one more. Perhaps as a squad member.

Let's try this again, and hopefully we can keep it civil. I request that we avoid any claims suggesting that hair color is in some way connected to intelligence, though you are of course entitled to make any argument you please, silly as they may be.

While I'm at it, I would like to express my hope a platinum blonde option in the CC.

Well, if rumors and such are to be believed... there's a buxom blonde squadmate for you this time around.

Grain of salt and what not though.

I think having blondes be rare in the era Mass Effect is set was an example of the writers using lore to cover up for the failings of the old engine. The real reason for the lack of blondes is that blonde hair looked the least natural by far in the original game.

This. I recall one of the ME devs even joking about this on a panel of some sort. They couldn't be bothered to make blonde hair look good so they made up some lore to justify it. Miranda was supposed to be blonde but they gave up and changed her design.

She was in her concept art, I think.

Didn't one of the Karpyshyn books establish blonde hair as an incredibly rare trait in present day humanity? For whatever reason, although that might be one way to explain the dearth of blondes. Also that all the blonde hair looked ass ugly in ME1-3.

It did, but there's no reason we wouldn't have people who use artificial coloring.

Yes, it was used as a way to distinguish Kahlee as one of the few natural blondes left.

I'm with Han. I'd prefer they quietly ignore that bit of lore as though it never happened.

And seriously, the blonde hair in ME was really bad. It was fine in DAI, though, so I'm not worried.

This thread is about the recurring requests for a blonde ME character that I see in this section, most of which usually degenerate into flame wars.

Because the BSN can manage to start a flame war about absolutely anything.

It has nothing at all to do with representation.

Or just mod the game so everybody has blonde hair!

The solution to one extreme is very rarely embracing the opposite extreme.

Why can't SJWs be this logical?

Someday maybe I'll be able to start, or even just find, a thread on the BSN where nobody feels the need to bring up SJWs.

I witnessed that rumor develop. So far as I can tell, it's not actually founded on anything other than wishful thinking.

I'm pretty sure the real reason there were almost no blondes in Mass Effect is because the Unreal Engine makes blond hair look terrible. Even more modern games on that engine, like XCOM 2, still fail in this regard.

I don't think Frostbite has this problem, however.

I think they have some kind of fetish for bringing it up.

SJWs are part of the BSN culture. They go hand in hand. Who wants to have a PBJ without the peanut butter? I certainly don't. Do you?

I set my visual cortex to block the rest of the text of any post that uses SJW in such context.

If given the option I shall make my first male Andromeda protagonist blonde, in honor of Conrad Verner. If possible I shall roleplay him as stumbling into success without really knowing what he did to accomplish that success. And if he has a shrine in his quarters to Commander Shepard, then what of it? I'm sure it will be very tasteful ...something along the lines of a poster and a few candles.

I believe that was to make Kahlee's hair color and eye color standout from all the other humans.

I'd very much like a sexy, blonde bombshell squadmate & LI for MEA.

And even better her, let her be intellectual and smart in addition to kicking ass and being sexy, to give the finger to all those people saying women can't be knockouts or have big breasts and be serious and intelligent at the same time.
