There is a solid argument against obese companions on the basis of realism, unlike any argument against blondes. A guy who looks like he'd need to be hooked up to an oxygen tank after a sprint would not have the prerequisite physical conditioning to be doing any of the things the core cast gets up to throughout the game.

 

I wouldn't have a problem with obese NPCs in the game world, and the more the game universe resembles the real world, the better...but they should not be squad mates.

Wouldn't make sense story-wise either, most of Shepard's companions were ex-military, spectre candidates, bred super soldiers, highly trained assassins, or members of a Templar style order. Generally the type that would not be out of shape. The only time an obese character could make sense in the story, is as a highly intelligent person who helps operate the ship like Joker, but this person would not be a field operative.

Obese wouldn't make sense as a companion, but "chubby" might. Particularly if they're like Liara, civilians who justify their place through biotic talent. Or perhaps a veteran who is coming out of retirement and thus isn't quite in tip top shape.

A biotic or a combat techy also need to run and take cover, and they might encounter other situations that require high physical fitness on the battlefield.

 

But yeah, probably anyone can pilot a mech suit, assuming they manage to stuff themselves inside.

I've strayed from the main subject too much.

I think there will be more blondes in ME:A. They've had more time with frostbite and there's kind of no excuse at this point. While they're at it, how but some other colors like blue, green, purple, etc (I'm serious)? We don't really know what the story is but if there's a bit of a wild west theme, that kind of goes against a stick up the ass everything by protocol group like the alliance. I kind of imagine less structure and more chaos in Andromeda. So "wild" colored hair wouldn't be all that out of place away from whatever military org that I still hope that we won't be a part of.

It's funny because blonde hair is more common than red hair. If anything, it would be gingers who are extinct.

This whole "blondes are rare" thing never made sense to me. There are a lot of natural blonde females... but for some reason the number of blond males is much lower. My hair was blond when I was a little boy, but as I got older it turned medium/dark brown.

Don't know the scientific explanation of this, but the same thing happened with me, and now is happening with my little brother.

Without reading any of the replies in this thread, I will say that I believe Star Wars Battlefront has blonde character options. As MEA will be running on Frostbite, expect to see them there also.

 

I will now leave the thread and let whatever is going on resume.

 

p.s. I was born with white hair and had blonde hair as a child. My hair has been brown since becoming a teenager.

True in extend. I just live in Finland, North Europe, should be land of blondes, but you just don't really see natural one's around.

That depends where you go. I came to visit Netherland, and there are many many blondes, they seemed to be more than the majority on the streets. I've never seen so many. There were so many blonde folks - especially blonde girls, that I was totally shocked, felt umcomfortabe walking in the streets of this country the first day. It was.. quite homogeneous. I wasn't used to that. One black guy among many blonde folks is quickly noticed lol. To the point I had an irrational distrust at the beginning. ( even thinking about the aryan race and how Hitler would have been happy in this country for few seconds ) But people are open minded and cool over there, so I quickly gave up my sillyness lol.   Even pretty blonde girls, curious, came to talk to me very nicely, the french foreigner, without me doing the first step. 

 

 In France I see diversity very much,,  the only thing that is a rare sight is redheaded. Which is why I'm always intrigued when I see one on TV. Quite exotic to me. I find Triss much more attractive than Yennefer for example. Her flamming hair certainly plays a role.

Otherwise I see that people want absolutely a blonde as Li. Why not. I can only support what we never had before. I am fine with a blonde, redheaded, black girl, asian, or anything else, as long as it isn't brunette. I love dark hair as well, but it's just that I enjoy diversity. We had Ashley, Jack, Miranda. it's about time to show some love to other types of women. =)
