Personality Archetypes / Tropes you DON'T want to see on the ME:A Crew

I really hope bioware can make the movements and behavior of the male NPC's a little less sissy and feminine like. Sometimes when you look at Kaidan and Cullen whom I really adore, you can clearly see that they have feminine features. The way they turn their heads, wiggle when walking etc. I would just for once really like it if there was a manly man. I know it may sound silly lol. I don't mean huge pumped up like Vega, I mean in behavior as well. Make him really interesting, manly, protective (yes she doesn't need it but anyway), I just miss that real man thing.

^ Then don't go out of your way. Be creative and make a more original character than one that resembles somethings that's been done to death before.

I want a protective manly man LI who will shove the PC against the wall, french kiss you and then tell you how it's going to be and take you in their arms and make you not care about the rest of the story. I almost wonder if Cullen should have been like that but they were too busy on their soapbox screaming through a megaphone and trying not be threatening to anybody it got lost in translation somewhere.
Wouldn't change a thing about Kaidan but that's for a different thread.

Yes this exactly! This is what I want.
And I think Cullen seemed a lot manlier in DA2 so he was probably meant to be like that, but lack of time and resources made him less manly. A pity, he could have been a lot better.

What I'd prefer to not see again, at least in male characters, is the Cheater, the Dieing, and the Widow.

Also funny how they aren't strictly heterosexual. Where's Cortez?
He is not funny.

What's wrong with being a little feminine and wiggle walking?????
I do agree with the sentiment though! It would be nice to have companions who are independent and aren't always horribly insecure or have family issues. Besides Shepard, it seemed like every companion had some sort of family issue or problem. At times I felt I was watching a soap opera more than saving the galaxy.

No insecure brown nosers and fake "I'm your bbf" companions. If they want to make a companion my bff then let it be a backstory or be patient and develop the relationship over the course of the series.
No promiscuous bisexuals.
No bisexual men who are more into women but will bang you for...reasons.
No SJW soapbox characters. I really don't care.
No more companions with daddy issues. ME2 filled that quota big time and even Liara had "daddy" issues in ME3.
What I do want:
More Kaidan types. A laid back handsome male companion who isn't trying to be a badass. A companion who speaks their mind and is willing to butt heads with me on certain choices.
More Zaeed types. A hardened merc who is all about the money and business.
More Grunt Types. A fun guy who isn't afraid to check the PC if they try to decide their entire lives for them.
More Kasumi types. She doesn't have to be a ninja or something crazy like that, but she was a cool thief, had her own gang, had a nice backstory with her lover and the greybox.
More Ashley from ME 1 types. I didn't agree with Ash's religion but I liked how she wasn't all "let's all get along" with the aliens. It would be nice to have a companion who realistically sees the situation when dealing with a new sentient life form. I don't want to be surrounded by everyone who just wants to sing Kumbaya with each other.

Thank you for agreeing with me Revan xD
Well yeah, for the men at least. I really think the manly types especially are rare, even in real life tbh. But in games they can totally make them and shape them as they want, as manly and protective as they want. I would really for once like to see a guy like that in the game, someone who looks out for my character and is genuinely concerned and maybe even protects her by getting rid of some of the bad guys for her and then telling her about it afterwards, I don't know, things like that lol.

That sounds like Kaidan.❤
We need more men like that, especially male LIs, but I worry it might be a long shot since these sjw women (or awakened females, or whatever they call themselves now) complain about men like that and say they're threatening and trigger them, or something, which I suspect is part of the reason Cullen felt so forced and awkward and vaguely feminine sometimes.

I can sometimes enjoy hating on a character as much liking a character, so don't really have any personality tropes I want/don't want to see for ME:A. My only request for leaving a certain Bioware trope out though, is please no IGN character.

Don't all of the cool kids do it? I thought that was the new hip fad around here? Do the wiggle walkie?
I definitely see where you are coming from. I think BioWare's only concern is to make sure the companions wouldn't overshadow the exploits of the player. I'd be all in favor of companions, male or female, stepping up their game and coming in to save the day from time to time though. It's not fun and isn't very realistic when everybody except for Shepard is helpless and apparently doesn't know how to take their clothes off during sex scenes or while in the shower.

I don't see it happening either. Too many feminists around. They ruin everything.
You're right that Kaidan is very manly, especially compared to DAI Cullen, his movements were so feminine at times that I felt they had taken a female body and placed his head on top of it, like they had been too lazy making a new body for him or something.

- Overweight human male engineer or biotic whos' brilliant, cynical and strategic. He is capable of being the leader and doesn't stop to remind you of it. Shows competency if challenged and solves your problems/mistakes from time to time.
- Drack, our new krogan, I want him to be a big o'le indolent lizard looking to profit off the new Krogan colonies. I want him to be a sleazy politician looking to become a monarchical ruler of his people after planetfall. I also want him to be very good to the Krogan people giving them what they want so that they love him. I'd love for him to be the groups Sentinel or Infiltrator.
- Salarian spiritualist who is a kind of a Luddite (Luddites weren't against all technology - I'd imagine this fringe to be anti-automation). I want there to be a religion after the Reaper-armageddon based off the monitoring of technology and I want this guy to be a strict adherent. I want him to be a gardener. To speak slow - a trait not attributed to the Salarians. I also want him to be a tremendous combatant. The best the group has. Soldier.
- I want a character who is predisposed to disliking you for "whatever" reason. I want that character to be next to impossible to become friends with. And - I want that character to become amazing friends with some other major NPC in the storyline. I want this character to have an entire life he/she is not interested in sharing with you. Deals with problems without you. BUT, I always want him or her to not be a ******. I want them to be a really nice person who just doesn't feel like they can trust you as anything closer than leader. Maybe this is out of a sense of hierarchy (you don't fraternize with "the boss") or maybe they just have fundamental disagreements with you who answer to (something we won't have control over) and feel like you're an extension of those people... whatever.
- I want two characters to be preordained as love interests, but I also want you to be able to try to flirt with them. I want "reverse Liara" without the ninja romance in ME (if you are nice to her - you enter a "romance" - had to restart an entire playthrough because of how I saved). I want them to be happy. I want them to not be conflicted by the overpowering charms of the PC. And - if you pursue it further than is appropriate (after you're told clearly to stop) - then I want it to hurt/ruin your friendships with both characters (reverse Anders).
- I want an NPC that betrays you. It doesn't have to be huge. Maybe they're selling archeological finds on the side OR, and better, they're making intelligent deals on the side with the "the enemy". I want these deals to have a huge boon for this NPC - I want them to offer to "bring the PC along" - and I want the PC somehow capable of swallowing their pride about the betrayal and seeing it as an opportunity (but, I also want this to cause a huge schism with people who are loyal to the original mission). It'll probably be something small so as not to destablize the entire game.
In the end... most of my character concepts would have AUTONOMY. I don't want them waiting hand and foot on the PC. I can't imagine a story where this is a military - and I don't want mindless soldier drones anyway. I want characters who have agendas and feelings that don't always cater to the PC. I want some characters that even make you feel like they might be better (and a chance to put one of the NPCs in charge in the middle of the damn game would be amazing).
People who need to 'be in charge' confuse me. Most people aren't even in charge of their own real lives... forget leading. Is that the appeal? The fantasy of how easy it is to order around a bunch of marionettes and be told that whatever stupid decisions you make... everything is going to be a win? I don't want that. I am a small scale leader in real life. I don't need to have the fantasy itch scratched. Sure - I can be a leader, but it's not like I don't already have a million games where I fall into that role. I'm looking for newer experiences... not the same o'le fiction.

Honestly? A huge cast of characters.
I think the standard 9+ companions plus other major characters is a bit too many.
