I'm getting annoyed by Castle Arcade. Unlikely I'll have the patience or care to get the high scores or all 4 orange orbs. Would I be able to get them otherwise in a NG+? I forget if that's how mods work in this game.

If you collect all mods in the first playthrough, and you buy all the mods from the shops, you'll probably max out by NG+.

The mods you get at Castle Arcade aren't unique and you can get them elsewhere. Depending on how good you are at collecting items throughout the game and whether or not you clean out the shops, you can easily get to Level V of all the upgrades in 2 playthroughs without playing anything in Castle Arcade.

Hmm okay, I thought they were unique. I've read elsewhere that they only cap off at IV for specific Citadel DLC mods, and you need to do that Arcade (or I suppose NG+?) for V.

I don't think you don't get all all the mod ranks without Castle Arcade in one playthrough, of the Citadel DLC new mods I mean.
EDIT: Could be wrong about all this. If so, nevermind. I'll find out anyway, since a NG+ is happening either soon or later this year!

Yeah, I did say it would take 2 playthroughs to get to Level V without Castle Arcade. What I meant by saying they are not unique is that actual mods are available elsewhere and you can purchase most of them (if not all of them) once each game in the Presidium Commons. Also, last time I played, I did notice that the mods I was getting from Castle Arcade were different than the ones I had received with a different Shepard. I think this was based on what I had missed collecting to that point in game or not purchased yet... so I don't think what specific mods you get from each arcade/simulator game are necessarily set in stone. If you have already found/purchased all the upgrades, the Arcade games will just give out credits instead of mods.
Actually, the Wiki does have a guide where you can see where each type of mod is available and whether or not you have the "right" DLC and missions yet to play to get to Level V with that mod by the time you finish this playthrough. You will likely need an NG+ to max out your favorite weapons at X anyways.
I'm new here and not sure if I'm allowed to link to the Wiki. I'll take a chance, but if I'm making a faux pas, please let me know and I'll delete the link.

Is there a mod that switches the gender of the Shepard clone? Would be fun to have MaleShep fight FemShep, and FemShep fight MaleShep,

I am seriously surprised that this mod does not yet exist, it is the single most obvious mod that anyone could create.
