Again, no. No number of options in the tapestry or in the game would have been able to satisfy even a majority of users.
You saw how crappy they implemented Hawke. The HoF would have been a disaster.

HoF would be welcome since mine is still alive but,I want to design Tidus, Camine ,Chasha or Rikku since I can repeat each design.
Maybe have a return in DA:5 as a DLC? That way players have a choice if they want to download the DLC. IMHO that would be a win for all.
HoF for romance option in DA4
"Gee, thanks for killing Corypheus, Hero of Ferelden!"
"Hey, it was no problem. It's almost like he just gave up at the endaaaarrrgghhAAAAAAAAHHHHHH KNEEL BEFORE THE ELDER ONE"
Dead Heroes will have a custom tomb at Weisshaupt that the DA4 protag will visit.
No thank you in DAA my warden was more alive than yours lol an envy demon
I played Inquisition before I played Origins. Knowing that, I had my hero make the ultimate sacrifice which is what Grey Wardens are supposed to do. Trusting a witch of questionable character like Morrigan makes doing the Dark Ritual seem rather selfish.
Indeed but my reason to do the sacrifice was different,i wanted the archdemon soul for me it was greed that killed me!
My warden was worse than Corypheus he wanted the golden light!
Honestly, if this was a series of books or whatever, that's exactly what should have happened. Have the Hero be "The Inquisitor" for the first part of the game, with the Herald stepping up after that disaster.
Then at the end of the game you can have the Hero's epic willpower stepping in to weaken Corypheus and allow the Herald to kill him.
Yes, that wouldn't have gone over badly with the fandom at all.

That's... pretty damn good!
What are your thoughts on the Hero?
No, nope, newp, nada
I don't want my Warden to die unceremoniously by slipping on a bar of soap, but BSN tries hard to make me feel the opposite.

Too bad tha Cory is probably insde the warden body!
Dumb question, who's Brosca? Otherwise, I wish the Hero had been allowed to progress through all the games. I appreciated that they at least brough back Hawke but amazingly were not able to make female Hawke look anything like the way she looked in DA2. Oh well...

You are, of course, aware that DA 2 starts immediately after the battle at Ostagar, while you're busily doing the treaties and such for Origins?

Ssssssshhhh! Just use time travel! It's canon now! *cringe*
I agree with the OP that the Warden could have been done in Inquisition like Hawke was and I would like to see them in future games. I'm of a different opinion when it comes to their letter however. The letter which could very well be a write off could also be hinting at The Warden's involvement in other developing story-lines. It is strongly hinted at the DA4 will take place in Tevinter but I also believe that it will jointly take place in The Anderfels, the home base on the Grey Wardens.
There have been more than a few subtle developments in the Grey Warden story side of things even since DA:O and Awakenings. And DA2 and DAI had there own subtle rumblings on the subject not least of which include the Warden Civil War and hints about the Awakened Darkspawn. What if the Warden's letter was not a hand-wave but the Grey Warden story inching slightly forward, a foreshadowing of whats to come and the Warden's involvement therein?
The Dwarven Commoner Warden, whose Origin story is inferior to that of the City Elf Origin.
Thanks! That's the one Origin story I hadn't done! And I agree...the City Elf origin story was very neat! But then again, all the Origin stories were compelling! That was the genius behind Origins! DAI is stunning graphic-wise, but it coasts quite a bit with respect to story. One paragraph on the Inquisitor's background? Really?
HoF for romance option in DA4
I don't think that Divine Leliana would like to be cheated since i romanced her

Easily solved; every remaining LI that hasn't died yet, will die unceremoniously instead of the HoF. (Despite the latter being in the same spot narrative-wise, regardless of the player's choices)
Divine Leliana trips on her dress and smashes her head.
Non-Divine Leliana gets eaten by her birds.
King Alistair falls from the throne and impales on his own sword.
Grey Warden Alistair accidentally drinks from a prepared joining cup at Weisshaupt and turns into a mindless ghoul.
Antivan Crows leading Zevran tries to teach the Crows how to do a leap of faith, but misses the haystack and dies.
Morrigan who drank from the Well accidentally shapeshifts to her normal self during dragon mode and falls to her death.
Morrigan who didn't drink from the Well shapeshifts into a nug for fun and gets eaten.

-Divine Leliana could be already possibly dead (the lyrium ghost)how can die someone who is already dead? I suspect that she is a little bit immortal..
-Well i can see Alistair die due to the taint, since he is not working in any research to cure himself
-Honestly Zevran i can leave or take, since regardless of how much he loved the warden he cheated the warden in DA2 with Isabela
i never trusted his love to be honest
-Morrigan can't die from a fall, since it has already happened if she drink from the well and fight the red lyrium dragon, she is the dragon who fall but unlike the Mythal guardian she survive,to be honest i still don't understand how that was possible ![]()
So i have to presume that she is immortal like Leliana
Nug proposition was fun though!
"Gee, thanks for killing Corypheus, Hero of Ferelden!"
"Hey, it was no problem. It's almost like he just gave up at the endaaaarrrgghhAAAAAAAAHHHHHH KNEEL BEFORE THE ELDER ONE"
Not bad, but I see it more as:
"Gee, thanks for killing Corypheus, Hero of Ferelden!"
Hero: Stands silently, staring with the customary blank stare at nothing. Suddenly bends over, body twisting, still not a peep until he/she rises as "new" Corypheus, mouthing "KNEEL BEFORE THE ELDER ONE!"
Grabs throat in shock, mouthing "Dammit! I picked the mute one!"
Hard to be intimidating when you have no voice.
*Edit* As to the return of the HoF, God I hope not. Every time he/she is mentioned Bioware poops on my head canon a little more. Let it go!
My HoF is retired and lives in a castle up in the mountains and wishes to be left alone.
-Divine Leliana could be already possibly dead (the lyrium ghost)how can die someone who is already dead? I suspect that she is a little bit immortal..
Hey, that's unfair! Spirits can die! Tho to be fair; if you killed Leliana in the first game, did you really romance her?
("Oh I love the Warden soooo much! (s)He killed me but I love him!") I don't think she'd be bothered with the HoF being an LI for someone else.
-Well i can see Alistair die due to the taint, since he is not working in any research to cure himself
Too dramatic: don't give the actual HoF-should-come-back-as-LIers any ideas!

Oh yeah... I totally forgot how Morrigan defied the laws of physics... On the flip side, that means she can become an LI again for future protagonists once the HoF dies of old age!
To be honest I think it would be awesome if they just did a DLC expansion like Awakening, but instead you play as the hero (or someone else if hero died) as she or he goes on the quest to cure the taint.
I love all my protagonists of the series.
In Origin I have a funny yet tough Eraline Brosca. Someone who had a hard life but still tries to be a good person. Romanced Alistair
In 2 I have Mercy Hawke, warrior (because I can't stand Carver and I love Bethany), and sweetly naive optimist. Romanced Fenris.
AND in Inquisition, I have my Gwynn Lavellan, and I am still developing her stances and everything, because I am spending all my time on war table missions and requisitions for Skyhold. Romancing Iron Bull.
Okay, I got that out and I am really curious to hear about all of your heroes and champions and Heralds. Dragon Age is so addicting.

Perhaps it could be done as a little side game (spin off?) that could be considered canon or non-canon, depending on the player's choice (people who don't like the story of the spin-off can just ignore it) A short game like maybe 1 to 3 episodes of a Tell Tale game (maximum of 5-6 hours of content) for about 20 bucks or so.
And then in the tapestry just have one more tab that says: HoF did or did not do <name of the side game's main quest here>.
Though the player would have to play as the HoF, they can't be reduced to an NPC, very few people would accept that. And the HoF should remain a mute protagonist.
However I doubt that it's financially plausible to do, considering that Awakening kinda flopped.
I love the HoF. More than the Inquisitor. Much, much more than the Champion. But we have to accept that any future HoF content will be minor, off screen, or both (just like in Inquisition).
Here's just one of the many logisitical problems that mean we'll never get the HoF back in the spotlight; romance. Romance, for better or worse, is a Bioware staple. Any future DA game will have romance in it. However, it's unlikely that DA:O romance options will be companions again (Alistair could be king or dead, Leliana could be Divine or a ghost, etc). Accomodating all that, as well as working in the inevitable new romance options into the story, is too much work for too little pay off.
The Warden is too diverse to bring back. One person's Warden could be a dwarven Paragon with two illegitimate sons who romanced Zevran. Another could be the Queen of Ferelden who is also the lover of Divine Victoria. A third is dead. The only way it could work is if the whole game is built around the Warden from the ground up, from day one. And I'm pretty sure Bioware isn't interested in making that sequel.
I know, you all probably deal with this kind of topic a lot, but I just need to get this off my chest. I don't mean to gripe, I just grew attached to my Hero.
I feel like the Hero of Ferelden should have been a major presence in Inquisition, instead of a hand-waving letter. I understand that recreating the Hero for each player would have been difficult since the first game didn't keep track of personality, but I feel it could have been solved on Dragon Age Keep's Tapestry. Since you have to use the site to export your World State to Inquisition, there could be a questionnaire on there about your Hero's personality traits. The Dragon Age 2 section of the Tapestry even asks you what kind of Hawke you had, so why couldn't the first game?
And the first game builds surviving heroes up to seem they have a bigger story on the way for us to play, as does the second game. Hawke AND Brosca disappear mysteriously and something huge is coming. Then the third game reveals Brosca was just off trying to cure her taint and she couldn't bother to make an appearance, let alone drop what she is doing to help FIGHT AN EVIL ANCIENT DARKSPAWN DEMON THING. It just feels like an aborted plot, like the creators changed their minds late in the developing of the third game.
And the Hero's appearance wouldn't have been difficult to work with either, since you can change Hawke's when S/he first shows up in Inquisition. And I was tickled pink at seeing my Mercy Hawke be important again
And again, I know it is silly of me to obsess over this, but I am the kind of player who really gets attached to my characters.
What are your thoughts on the Hero?
