I'll have to think about some examples, but there's one nightmare I had that I will never forget. I don't know if it counts, since it was an episode of sleep paralysis, not an actual dream. It's when your brain wakes up, but your body is still asleep. You can't move, the brain goes into panic mode, and you start hallucinating. Mine happened to be an intruder who ran up to me after just standing and staring, and stabbed me in the chest. The pain felt very much real. Fun experience.

I've had a few random spells of sleep paralysis over the years. Thankfully, they've been rather mild, consisting mostly of a general buzzing tingliness around my body and a slowly dissipating pressure on my midsection. I don't tend to open my eyes during it either, which helps keep the hallucination aspect of it to a minimum.

all y'all with nightmares and such

I normally have fun dreams, some of them are like action adventure stories and I really like that I can remember quite few of them.

I often have dreams about being hunted. There'll be zombies, teachers, flying sharks or in the worst case spiders and I have to get away.

Sometimes I'll just have weird dreams though. Like the one with the elf woman fighting off a bunch of orcs so Han Solo could get the jar of jam he needed to build a wall.

That does sound rather mild. After the first one I realized that maybe opening my eyes is not a good idea, but at that time I didn't know what was happening.

Jeez, that's sounds terrifying. I think I would become a nervous wreck after that kind of thing. The suspense beforehand makes it even worse. The idea of someone malevolent staring at you when you're in a vulnerable position.

When I was a pre-teen, there was a period where I didn't have an actual room, just a balcony loft overlooking the living room. So there was a high ceiling, and these wall beams between me and the empty darkness.

Being an imaginative sort of person, I often pictured all sorts of malicious things watching me from around the beams and through the little railing. One night, I imagined a face there so vividly that I felt paralyzed by fear. I didn't move or sleep for hours.

I think because of stress I was having problems sleeping, which might have caused that episode. Made it even harder to fall asleep after that. Especially since someone breaking in was a common nightmare after someone reduced our door to a pile of splinters with an axe.

I also sometimes imagined faces in the dark. Had even a little flashlight I could use to calm myself down.

I dreamt about being the blue Power Ranger once when I was young. The part that was weird was that the pink was my favorite.

But even that one ended up with me running away from something scary. A lot of the time, it's a secret organization that I try to infiltrate, and then I'm discovered and I have to flee from the attack. One time, it was an onslaught of giant snowflakes. I woke up just before one of them crushed me.

The only purely enjoyable dream I ever remember having was about eating these fantastic waffles just drenched in dark syrup.

No killer tornadoes or video game related craziness but a lot of my dreams seem to involve me running.
Not even running away from anything just running and jumping over **** for the sake of it.

I have a hard time remembering my dreams, but I think I remember one that was quite epic, Lord of the Rings style epic, that is.

I woke up my scout camp because in the middle of my sleep I apparently started shouting a battle-cry. That's how I learn I sleep-talk.

I dreamt that I was trying on clothes in a high end retail store and I somehow kept spilling liquids all over the clothing, even though I would never bring in outside food and drink to try on clothes in my real life.  :(

I kept spilling all over the lovely clothing, and becoming progressively more mortified each time.

Had a lovely little half awake half dreaming moment that scared the hell out of me last night. Read something kind of creepy earlier in that day and was pondering on it as I went to bed going over little theories in my head about it, then I start hearing things (which is normal for me) first rushing water so I know it's not real but it helps me start to drift off then it turns into pained groans and I show how mistake the wind of the fan for something brushing against my skin, shoot up out of bed looking right at the window and saw something. I don't remember what but I remember it was enough to terrify me to the point of going back to a little kid of putting your head under the blankets until you felt safe again.

Weird DAI dream last night I can't remember a lot of it but had something to do with Trespasser, Sera and a double wedding. So I'm gonna assume that the dream was about my Inky getting married to Sera and someone else at once probably Blackwall, or maybe Josephine.

Had a vaguely ME-related dream last night. It was pretty short, and I don't remember all of it, but the bulk of it consisted of Garrus teaching me (and by me I mean me-as-FemShep because I rarely dream as myself) how to French-braid my hair. The hair tie was either wrapped in or made of prosciutto. I usually have pretty weird dreams so this is actually pretty tame by my standards.

Ok, slightly weird dream today. I was driving somewhere in the night, but had amnesia and didn't remember where. Some people joined, who said they were my friends. Ok, I though, come along. We finally arrived in a city, got out of the car, and my "friends" started talking to some Brazilian mafia members, and I realized they were really my enemies, so I jumped back into the car and drove away. I got to a house, where the wife of the mafia boss lived. She was apparently my friend. Her name was Elena, and she spoke german with a thick french accent. She said she would protect me. We looked out the window, saw her husband, some thugs, and a barber running between them and cutting their hair outside. I pointed to him and asked who's that

- Our Nazi barber.

- Why Nazi? I thought conspiracy theorists said that the generals escaped here, not barbers.

- He's... a really good barber.

And then I woke up.

Anyone have any recurring dreams? I haven't had one of these in a while, but I used to occasionally dream that I was back in high school and forgot my locker combination, or that I couldn't even remember where my locker was, and on finding it struggled to remember the combination.

Also, if you've ever "heard" a loud noise when falling asleep, that's Exploding Head Syndrome (yes, real name).

I don't think recurring is the right word but when I was a kid I made the same dream twice, except that the second time I chose a different exit because I remembered that I'd chosen the wrong one the first time.

It's happened a couple more times since then, except that when I wake up I realize I've never actually had that dream before.

Kind of. Certain themes recur often. I try to infiltrate an evil secret organization, but then I'm caught. Massive something or others falling from the sky and almost crushing me.

I live in an area where I absolutely never have to worry about tornados, and yet that's the natural disaster that most frightens me, and turns up in dreams. This enormous pitch black tornado that aims specifically for me. I'm usually trying to hide, or run away from it.

I used to have a lot of recurring dreams involving zombies. Same group, same kind of zombies, but a different scenario every time. Maybe we're trying to escape a hospital. Maybe we're trying to fuel up a lorry in time before a horde reaches us. It got to the point where dream-me went from being terrified to really flippant about the situation. Oddly, the dreams stopped when I started watching TWD. I guess my subconscious craved zombies?

The other night I had a dream where I was on the computer at work. One of the program icons had been replaced by John Cena's face. Every time I clicked something on it, his theme music played and all my coworkers stared at me. You know you spend too much time on the internet when there are memes in your dreams.

This describes the games 'Left 4 Dead' and 'Left 4 Dead 2' perfectly. Same types of zombies, same group of survivors, different scenarios to work your way out of

Had a really strange one last night all I really remember was there was a storm that left tons of trees in the middle of busy roads with people underneath them and driving in the rain. I was driving the car and I think it was my father in the passenger seat, someone was driving behind us and my father for some reason jammed a needle into my arm and injected something in me before I could pull it out all I remember after that was feeling like my head was spinning and like I was going to throw up. Oh and lying in mud so I think he drugged me and pushed me out of the car and drove away for whatever reason. That drugged up feeling sucked though even if it just a dream it still felt really real. Even when I woke up I went for the toilet still feeling like I was going to be sick.

Someone was chasing me with a machete through a decrepit mansion. Thanks a lot, Guillermo Del Toro.

Had one where I was play testing a game and got a weird scene where I had to make the character grab her own butt to see if the AI was working and would react accordingly by pinching the side you didn't grab. For some reason I was suppose to be testing a bunch of really weird and uncomfortable things like 'test to make sure the world reacts correctly when you choose to forcibly kiss this crying girl' or the butt grabbing thing. I think it was suppose to be an open world style RPG where the style kept changing to something like looked like tomb raider, to mass effect, and to an anime superhero kind of thing.

No idea what caused that dream but it was just weird and uncomfortable, at least the world treated you like an a**hole when you forced you lips on someone sobbing.

I had a very vivid dream that I was back in high school and was biking home after school one day, which I never did due to the distances, and it seemed fairly normal until I had to cut through a geological museum.

I remember getting odd looks at bringing a bicycle through this fancy building and coming out underneath the statue of a T-Rex and sauropod fighting and I was suddenly in some weird resort area.  The rest of the dream and after I woke up once and went back to bed was weird shenanigans in this resort town with people I went to high school with.

I seem to find myself lucid dreaming all the time, with varying levels of control when it comes to manipulating the dream it seems. Flying is a doddle, but going through walls often requires effort.

I've had a couple dreams like Evamitchelle, where if something goes wrong, I reload the dream to a certain place to let me try out different scenarios.

Often the lucid take place in this bizarre amalgamation of my hometown and a couple other places, always with everything found in the same places, as if my mind has somehow mapped out the precise geography, landmarks and various locations of a place that does not actually exist.

Either this mean I'm extremely imaginative or I secretly have a bit of a god-complex, I can't figure which?

I changed the colour of a person's socks in a dream once. They were those knee-high, with each toe separated, kind, and I changed the colour from plain orange to blue-and-white striped. As far as I can remember, it was the only time in my life where it worked when I tried to do something on purpose in a dream, heh.

I can't remember much about this one other than one thing and it was just so beautiful makes me sad that I can't draw or paint or recreate the image cause it was just breath taking. It was underwater next to this huge waterfall and down at the very bottom in a large crater there were just hundreds of koi fish swimming in unison around this very large one in the center of them, big enough to swallow a group of people whole if it wanted.

I'm not good at describing it but it was very peaceful and beautiful.
