I really want to. Not some jerk who saves the world despite being an *******, but an actual villain. The setting for this game has so much potential to be a bad guy. I want to raid colony worlds and enslave its people. I want to build my own fleet and send it to conquer other civilizations. I want to build weapons of mass destruction and use it against my enemies. I'm so bored of playing the hero who saves the day. I want to be the villain. I want to be cruel, ruthless and vindictive. I want people to hate my PC but fear him/her as well. I want to be the main bad guy.

We've saved the galaxy once. Now we should be the ones to end it.

Chill dude, I meant game-wise. I simply find it dull that we're forced to be the hero all the time. I'd like some variety from time to time.

I agree with OP.  There is a point where people aka society get to a point where its like "enough is enough" and we need to hit the reset button.  We are at that point now.  ME:A is set in the future from this time period.  If it hasn't been done by then.......

You might be able to do it int he storyline, but if you fail and theres still all this qqing then you need to end it.

I think playing a villain would be fun. Writing a good villain is a lot of fun, too. That's what made a game like Grand Theft Auto so subversive. You played a villain. The thing was that there were worse scum than you, so you could go about your evil deeds and still feel good about yourself.

But some people just want to watch the world burn.

To do this you have to start somewhere. It would be fun to have a plot line where you can rise to power and gather your circle of lieutenants. Then you make alliances, take down your rivals, and eventually your allies. But what kind of villain are you? The kind who takes the galaxy to a neat clean dystopia? Or the one who takes the galaxy to total ruin.

I believe that's not gonna happen with Mass Effect sooner or later. Imo renegade choices in the trilogy give me the "villain" feeling already.

Exactly and I think a vast galaxy like Mass Effect is a great setting for someone who desires to conquer it or destroy it. We could even be thinking the entire time that we are doing what we do for the good of the galaxy only to be shown later that our actions were seen as monstrous and the ones we have been fighting against were simply trying to prevent us from causing any more pain.

No that game was sick. Bioware did allow us to play villains before though. Remember Kotor? Where Revan could choose to embrace the darkside? I simply stating that it would be nice to have the option. Sure you could have the whole hero route but you could also potentially become the bad guy.

I wouldn't mind making a return to the KOTOR way of doing things where you have the Light Side ending and become the savior of the galaxy, or the Dark Side ending where you kill the villain and take his place. That kind of option would definitely be interesting since Bioware's last several games have been devoid of such a choice.

Even in KotOR 1, you are still the hero. You defeat Darth Malak to save the galaxy. The fact that you can take the Dark Side path and become the next Dark Lord of the Sith does not discount you still killed the "bad guy." What you are asking for BioWare has never actually done. A game in which you are the bad guy and where people hate and fear you. I don't think that will ever happen realistically. BioWare just doesn't make that kind of game.

I don't think I'd want to be a villain, but with us being the new kids on the block we should definitely be stepping on toes and pissing people off. Our survival is at stake. Really in the end that's what matters, if we need to do some unscrupulous things to get that done that's just the cold reality of it.

All I have taken from the different BioWare games is they are aggressive versus diplomatic when it comes to completing the goal with you always being the hero and never the villain. Yes you have the choice of taking over as the Sith Lord, but the game itself you aren't playing the villain anymore then you are playing the villain when being a Renegade Shepard for me it would not be any different if in Mass Effect 3 you kill the Illusive Man and take control of Cerberus.

Of course it would also lead to the eventual complaining of BioWare not respecting choices either in any potential sequel because our character won't be used as the villain or hero either, but that is another conversation.

I agree, although that would mean the team would essentially have to write two different games concurrently. That would kinda suck.

I have nothing against playing as the villian.

Make a crucible that destroys all life in the galaxy with me being the only one left standing. Excellent.
