While not Pie-In-The-Sky necessarily, I really miss the "Heroic Accomplishments" Stats Page we had in Origins.
Kills, % of World Explored, Total Damage Dealt, Biggest Hit, Number & Types of Things Killed, Deaths, Deaths by Water ;), and so on...

Currently playing Pillars of Eternity again, and I do like having this...

My very first started thread was asking if we were going to have exactly this. I like to know how well my chars are doing and how effective they are at their job. Detailed stats for each char is my choice; I want to know who's dealing most damage, whos taking most damage, who kills what and hit % along with what you said would be a good start. Might want to add dodge chance, most damage done in X time and there really should be something for support chars as well.

I was thinking the Grand Proving arena in Minrathous could be a good multiplayer area. Players could fight each other in PvP battles or team up against an a.i. enemy team. Or something similar as part of the single-player playthroughs.

This is a great way to do multiplayer (and a single player version would be cool, too).

If they design the arena like an in-universe equivalent to the old coliseum in Rome, they could even have the place change set pieces and enemy types and still be believably in the arena. The Romans used to flood their coliseum to reenact naval battles. I am sure Tevinter could do just as well, what with the magic at their disposal. Could also easily change the terrain to look like a jungle/elven ruins/be on fire. Whatever the combat map requires. And carting in a dragon or a gang of quillback alphas for the combatants to fight would be a simple task.

A Melee Mage, now thats intriguing, a mage with kung fu skills would be a great new specialisation. Any Specialisations based on the Martial Arts from around the world would be a very good start. I always wanted a Mage that used their Staff like a Shaolin Monk in Melee combat or a staff that was closer to a Halberd or long bladed spear. This could be a new type of Arcane Warrior or Knight Enchanter, perhaps a specialisation from another country like Nevarra, Rivain or Antiva.

There are so many fighting styles from around the world that could be incorporated as new Specialisations for all three classes in DA.

Hopefully we'll see something we haven't seen before, and the return of other class skills and spells deeply missed from DAO and DA2.

I stand by my desire for a dual-baton wielding (ala Mockingbird/Bobby Morse in the MCU) melee mage with spells basically consisting of mental stuff like horror, a personal barrier, and short range/touch/elemental spells that enhance the mage and her weapons and/or debilitate enemies on contact.

I specify batons since they can be made of wood or metal and basically count as a staff split in two, lore-wise. But I suppose it could work with some kind of bladed item, too, like scythes. Or a pair of maces?

Having a 2H halberd/spear available to the warrior class (or mage, I suppose, but we already sort of have that with bladed staves?) would also be really cool.

I have no interest in multiplayer myself, but I think that's a brilliant suggestion, L.V.  And it would fit seamlessly into the existing lore.  I'm sure a lot of people would be interested in moving from strictly cooperative multiplayer into some competitive action.  I also don't see why people's playing characters, as opposed to specially created multiplayer characters, couldn't participate.  No XP gains, no character injury or death, no real consequences for the game (other than maybe the occasional comment by NPC's about the PC's achievements in the ring)...Just gladiatorial matches for those who'd be interested.  I imagine it would broaden the appeal.

So, kinda like the cipher I play in Pillars of Eternity?

I'm not sure such a character really fits in Dragon Age as its been established, though I'd love to play such a character in some sort of Urban Fantasy setting.

I haven't actually experienced a cipher in PoE, yet? (My only Watcher is a hunter, atm.) But I'll take your word for it. :)

I figure they could basically build off the current DW rogue animations in a lot of ways. This type of melee mage would be a lot more of an acrobat than mages have been previously, but there's an opportunity story-wise to explain it with Tevinter being the kingdom of mages in-setting and their war with the Qunari ramping up. They'll need some innovation to keep the Qun at bay and new magical fighting styles could be right up their alley.

Well there are no shortage of spells designed to screw with your opponent's head and I tend to play a dual wielding melee character (Using a sword and short spear in my current playthrough). She's way too squishy as yet, but she has plenty of fun abilities.

I'd think we'd more likely end up with another edition of the Arcane Warrior/Knight Enchanter type deal, but it could be interesting to see something more rogue focused.

Considering how much the mage abilities and spells have been watered down from feared powerhouses on the battle field to really weak opponents I like this reincarnation of a Battle Mage. Using spells that are localised to personal defense shields, armour and encasing hand held weapons or even gauntlets to punch foes; Yes please, this would be an amazing new Melee class for Mages.

I remembered a few more:

1. A Fade level that doesn't hang neon signs all over itself saying "THIS IS THE FADE". We hear so much about how vulnerable everyone is to being tricked by spirits there etc., but as the player it's always really obvious; it would be really cool to be genuinely surprised to find out what's going on. They flirted with it in DA:I with Solas's Haven thing and the original plans for Champions of the Just but I'd love to see it happen in DA4.

2. (substantially less likely:) Swimming / diving. Underwater elven ruins that need to be explored for some plot-important reason.

I hope we get a return to the four schools of magic, like in DA:O and DA2. Didn't really care for three out of four skill trees being primarily elemental magic.

Just in terms of gameplay, having played Witcher 3 and then DAI. Please Bioware, do not have my guy die in 2 feet of $#%& water all the time. Lame and totally immersion breaking.

Also, don't make areas that look accessible, should be accessible and finally after working real hard to get there are now accessible (Hooray!)

- - - only to die seconds later from the auto kill kicking in. Just hated that.

Other than technical stuff, my pie in the sky would be an over arching story that would tie in all 3 games and fix the god awful deus ex machina story swerve about that certain character at the end of Trespasser! (Just finished it last night, still reeling)

-Remove item restrictions. If I want to be a mage with a greatsword or a warrior with daggers, I should be able to.

-A well implemented dual protagonist, Inquisitor + a new PC, in Tevinter.

-Get rid of the 8 ability limit and add new talents/spells, as well as old favorites. More options is better.

Though of another thing I want to see in DA4. Or, more accurately, I want to hear. I know Morris is the composer (as of now) and that Inon Zur was the one who did DA1 and 2. But in DA2 there was this musical theme that I associate directly with Tevinter. Its in Fenris' Theme and Mage Pride. Mage Pride even has lyrics that sound like they're supposed to be Tevine.

*I can't vouch for accuracy of the above translation, as I have no idea of the source. The transcribing of the lyrics seems mostly accurate, though.

Like I said, I know its a different composer now. But if he could make a call back to that theme in the DA4: Tevinter soundtrack, I'd absolutely love it. I think there may have been shades of the Orzammar theme in Descent at some point (or maybe I'm imagining that???) So, it might not be outside the realm of possibility? Tying in Zur's work would be one more thread binding the series together as a whole, which can only be a good thing.

(And this is not to say I don't want more 100% original Morris stuff. I do. He's amazing.)

I know it's never going to happen but I wish to be rid of the dialogue wheel.

Cover it in pitch, set it on fire and throw it in a canyon.

I want the Inquisitor to be either the PC or at least being able to be controlled by us during parts of the game. Like maybe how Cassandra and Leliana were the Hands of the Divine, the new protagonist will be the Hand of the Inquisitor. Since if we do reach a conclusion with Solas in the next game, I want the Inquisitor be the one who decides. Plus I still want another romance scene with Solas and Lavellan....;_;

I also want the old action bars to return. No more breaking my head over which spells to put in. It was really annoying when you'd just gotten a new fire spell or what have you and wanted to try it out, only to come to the conclusion that the next enemy around the corner was a Rage Demon and not even being able to change up your spells during combat. Or even switch your fire staff for an ice staff. Oh and concerning staves, I really loved the DAII staves. The different element animations or just the staff animations in general. Wish they'd come back too. Loved the spirit hand.
However, I wouldn't like classes to disappear as for one, I feel that because of the mage stigma it wouldn't make sense for everyone being able to use everything. And secondly, I personally hate playing like that. Because I always wind up doing the same thing anyway. I'd much rather they bring back old specs like Arcane Warrior, Battle Mage and Spirit Warrior to cater to either being a melee mage or magey warrior. I'd also like to see Force Mage, Spirit Healer (accompanied by proper healing spells), Rift Mage and The Keeper spec make a return. Also quite like the idea that if we're able to have multiple races, that the specs are different for each race. Like Keeper and Arcane Warrior for Elves etc. And every spec having a unique and actual quest to acquire it.
For spells in general I would want them to bring back the different schools of magic.
And for now the last thing I can think of atm, would be to bring back actual expansions instead of DLC. I feel that DLC should be reserved for cosmetic ends only and actual story content should be put into proper expansions like Awakening. And speaking of cosmetic stuff.....please Bioware, for the love of all that is holy, hire some actual hairdressers to design the hairstyles. We know where hair should and should not go. We know which hairstyles will be at least wearable. And while you're at it, make hairstyles race-specific. Or at least some of them. I don't want to see a crowd where there are Elves, Dwarves and Humans all wearing the same damn bun every single time. -That- should be something to put into DLC. Character creator content.
And failing that, just make a toolset so we can do it ourselves.

Oops....got a bit carried away there. :')

I think it would be great!   :D  The party banter between the 3 of them would be golden!  XD  Fenris and Dorian scrapping it out, Zev having to be the peace keeper. Dorian and Zev arguing over who's the better looking of the two, Fenris groaning not believing he's putting up with their crap. I wanna see it happen, I really, REALLY do.   :D That right there is my dream team.   <3

Oh yeah and another thing I'd like is if they had a male bard sing once in awhile. Jonny Rees would be good for the part.  :)  (I really prefer male singing voices over female ones.) and don't make the tavern music so loud it drowns out conversations. Yes, I turned it down, the the singing was still overpowering at times.

My most unrealistic wish is across the board good writing....bioware has shown that they can do good writing, sometimes but it's always only in specific places.

Side quests that are interesting, have cut scenes, different outcomes, memorable characters ect.

I want a story that focus's mainly on Tervinter but also maybe spans to some other places, I liked not being entirely restricted to one country or one city.

A CC that is like Inquisition but with more/better hair. I don't even care about the "long flowing hair" that some people here really want, I just want hair that doesn't look awful. The return of all four races.

Some kind of Origin something that amounts to more than a block of text and a few references in convo's. I'd rather your background mattered in the game than I would want the return of playable Origin stories but if they could do both that would be cool too!

Combat really needs to be better than it was in Inquisition, they brought back "tactical combat" after complaints about DA2's combat and it somehow managed to be less tactical.

I'd quite like to see the return of skills like Shapeshifting, Blood magic and nature magic. Even if not specifically as skill trees.

Oh and PLEASE don't make skills look flashy if they don't need to be! Sure mage skills and stuff like Templar skills should have bright flashing lights but I don't wanna see purple flashes when I am just stabbing people with my rogue character.

Open areas but only as open as there is interesting content to fill.

A city that isn't just one small area or a collection of small areas with a bunch of npc's standing around.

Companions:

Maevaris!!!!!!!!

Harding

A Revaini Seer (just because they seem so interesting)

A female qunari

A "knight in shining armour" type who is gay or maybe just not white or something.

THE RETURN OF SHALE!

That will do for now. O_O
