I think Bioware should look into how CDPR portrayed vampires in the Witcher.
Ugh.

It was not CDPR's idea. Sapkowski included vampires in his TW books... Ugh...
I would rather they stick to what they have. There is nothing about the vampires in DA lore, so it would awkward to introduce them in DA4. Plus it smells of Twi... Ugh... I can't even write that word. It makes me sick.

Uh, yeah there is. I'd link to the Codex, but the relevant bit's already been copy-pasted.
Good news is that it does not sound anything like That (#*$ing Vampire Series That I'm Willing To Not Name For Your Sake. (You're welcome.)
I like vampires, real vampires, not those f---aty things that sparkle. That being said, DA doesn't need such things, its fine as it is.
I'm really tired of vampires, to be honest.
I mean, DA is neither The-Let's-Think-Up-As-Many-Monsters-As-We- Can-Witcher nor TES (which has always had vampires), and Thedas is interesting enough as it stands. Also, I think the past 10 years have given us more vampires than we've ever had to read about/watch/play in humanity's entire history.
^ This.
Do we really need to drag out a tired trope and shove it into Dragon Age? We've already got elves, dwarves, werewolves, ogres, wizards and orcs darkspawn. Let's leave one box un-ticked aye?
Vampires already exist in Thedas as well.^ This.

I've always wondered about this. I mean there have been werewolves in Dragon Age so why not vampires? They don't need to take the Bethesda or Twilight approach with them and can all be curse-related similar to the Werewolves or maybe even some sort of undead/machinations of the blight.

Lol, there it is. I got worried for a moment there. Don't go changin', Dutch.
Ok Blade confirmed as protagonist for DA4 because he is better than the inquisitor
If the vampires are done right (and I see no reason why BW is incapable of this) I would in fact like to see Vampires make an appearance. I did like the way TW3 handled them. That said, as others have said, it appears that Vampires do play a role in Thedas to some extent however small. I wouldn't mind seeing them reappear with more details this time. Maybe get to talk to it or something in a side quest.
Sure lets have vampires. Then will get the forums filled with squealing teens who want the vampires to sparkle and be able to have a relationship with them.
The stereotype vampire would just seem out of place. But as many have said there are Hunger Demons. And also for some reason I miss the Ash Demons too.

Fanged skeltons are not vampires -.- If drinking blood is the only thing that makes sth or someone a vampire, then Qunari are vampires too coz they used to drink dragon blood. Ugh.
I'm not sure what you're referencing when you say sparkle. By vampires I think I and most people here don't want the ones portrayed in media like twilight and I think Bioware if they do indeed include vampires would not turn to twilight for inspiration.Sure lets have vampires. A fanged skeleton is a hunger demon in a dead host. In a living one, the demon creates a cannibal or a vampire.
Corpses possessed by hunger demons, consuming the flesh and blood of the living, is about as far into vampire territory as I want DA to go.
What about living people?
The lore says they become cannibals or vampires. What about living people?

As long as it's more 30 Days of Night style vampire, which makes more sense with a hunger demon abomination to me, then that works for me.
Is that the one where they're innately evil, and while one heroic person does willingly become a vampire he lets the sun hit him because he knows he won't stay that way?
(Speaking of which I hope the sun doesn't actually weaken any vampires we meet. There's no logical reason for that in this setting, and if they're following pre-established lore on demonic hierarchy most vampires will already be so weak that they don't need a weakness other than their relative lack of strength.)

You just answered your own question. ![]()
