My insanity playthrough is still pretty early and Kaidan decided to hit on Frank Shepard (pukes). Anyway, I didn't romance anybody in ME1 and ME2, which I've never really done in a playthrough. So, now, I'm wondering what hetero romance options are there. If I'm running it over in my head, the options would only be Liara and Diana Allers? Is that right?
Question about Romance Options...

You're stuck with Liara. Have fun.
The only other option is Ashley
but she dead in your playthrough apparently.

That's what I figured, since all the rest require ME1 or ME2 ongoing romance.

Couldn't you go gay for Steve or Kaidan? Shame to waste the opportunity, Steve is a great guy and if you've been single up till now then you're able to roleplay being gay.
Just saying. ![]()
It's something I want to try but so far haven't been able to resist the other romances in ME2. ![]()

No. ![]()
I also don't like the idea that Kaidan can be gay since he was established as perfectly straight in ME1.

I also forgot about Tali, but you said that she needs to be romanced in 2 to be romanceable in 3.

Yeah. I also thought of Kelly Chambers but I believe she's dead in this playthrough. ![]()

That bothers me, I wish they'd stuck to their guns and established him as bi in the first place. The dialogue is there in ME1 but they changed their minds before release, so for him to suddenly hit on maleShep is odd.
My first maleShep bought him the booze as a get well gift, I had no idea what would happen and was like
when he asked if he was flirting with him. Ermmm no Kaidan, you're like a brother to him and he's with Tali so.....awkward. ![]()
Badly written imo.

Well, I suppose it would be fine if Shepard had an option to say "No, you idiot!"
Yeah, come to think of it, that bottle must have been the trigger!

If he could he deflected it in a really funny way, not at all homophobic but just 'Damn Kaidan, you're a good looking guy but no, no. You're my bro!' then it would've been cool.
But honestly there should have been a far more specific romance starter than a bottle of booze, thank goodness DA:I has more specific triggers that actually tell you they're romantic. I hope ME:A repeats that.
Yeah, just don't buy it for him if you don't want the line. ![]()

I think Liara is so much better romanced in ME1. I didn't actually like the "umm aaah... hmmm...yes, we're meant to be together, let's smooch" in the new romance. Can't you change the save edit that marks Liara as your locked romance?

Well, it is a learning process for BioWare.
I like that they use icons to let you know clearly what each line will be about. Should've been there in ME3 too though I suppose they really ran out of time with ME3.

Yeah, I think save editing is difficult when the save is trapped inside my Wii U. ![]()
Actually, I really don't like Liara's writing in ME1. I like her so much more in ME3, so I guess I may have to settle with her if I want romance options.

I'd like to dig this one up just to follow up over my question. As it turns out, my Shepard ended up getting no one. Liara was my only option and there was no option to pick her as a romance. I think it must have something to do with my renegade run.
Oh well. It's only really minor anyway.

Your opportunity was when you meet her on the Citadel after the Coup attempt. You chat with her and she calls you her friend, you need to take the paragon option that you want to be more than friends, or something like that.

I know that dialog and the option to take it beyond friendship doesn't appear. Instead, it's "I'd like that" and "Let's keep it professional" so I know that the game had decided she wasn't eligible.

I think the option that should've appeared here is "Just friends?" but I'm pretty sure I played a Paragon Shepard there. Well, maybe. :-p

If you want to romance her; at Normandy when the conversation goes what makes Shepard fight and if she asked if she's one of the important people. That's a flirt line. Other than that, pander to her, don't be dismissive or she'll think you're not interested.
Honestly, she's the easiest person to be in romance with in ME3, it was even harder to avoid her pouting about being "just friends". Not really into that emotional bribery crap.

Interesting, when I had that option, and Shepard talked about the people important to him, thecamera panned over to Ash (though granted this was a game with an Ash romance import) and Liara clearly took note of that.
And I still got the "Just friends" option later when talking to Liara, since I hadn't locked the Ashmance in yet..

That was the scene on Mars. If you're in romance with VS, the game recognize that romance first and trumps over Liara's new romance which started in her cabin. It was the scene where Shepard sit down to talk to her. Paragon Shepard will say it was the people s/he care about that keep them going, she'll ask if she's one of them and Shepard said of course. That's a flirt line.
Recently, I did play around with the dialogues just to avoid the new ME3 romance autodialogues and avoiding "just friends" lines (the Citadel Cafe, the other side of Presidium, Shepard's cabin). Honestly, Liara's convos were all paragon and neutral. The renegade merely indifferent and fairly dismissive. You really can't be mean to her at all in ME3.

That makes a lot of sense. I think I was rolling an agitated Shepard so I missed the right dialog options in that scene. Now that you pointed that out, I think I did sort of dismiss it. Never realized it was a flirt line. ![]()
