Yeah, the dialogue wheel has always been a bit of a crap-shoot. They say it's to make the cinematic experience more authentic, to preserve a bit of surprise, but more often than not it makes Shepard look like a socially maladjusted jackass. The middle option almost always avoids sounding too naive (paragon) or too thuggish (renegade) but it yields few if any points.

There is no presence of Rachni in ME2. If you saved them, good for you, you get a 20% booster to surviving ME3 and eradicating the Reaper threat. All you renegades out there who didn't save her, seems you got a tougher fight. I mean being a jackass is fun and all, but it only seems to get you places in the long run on Omega. It just pisses the other bad guys off everywhere else.

But yea, the Rachni will help you immensily in ME3. The queen stated that their songs will join with yours to take on the Reaper threat. So I <3 <3 <3'd all the way to Liara's office after that, only to be disappointed at the utter **** Liara has become.

Is this all confirmed or is that your personal fantasy? Either way, I highly doubt you'll have some big rachni army running along side you. Mass Effect is about recruiting individuals, not entire species. Granted, that may be the premise of ME3.

I think it might end up as a DA:O gigantic meatshield army type of situation.

They'll do just enough to be useful, but it will ultimately be up to you.

Well, the Rachni dialogue on Illium basically implies it.  In typical Rachni metaphor, but nevertheless.  :)

Thats not a bad point, think of the bits about putting the geth into one faction, getting the quarians to owe you one, getting in close with the leader of the krogan, the rachni pledging loyalty to you, the possability of being close to two important asari (liara and samara).

Its very possible that ME3 could have a bunch of differant faction type situations like DA:O

Dude, ME2 came out 3 days ago, I doubt anything for ME3 is confirmed other than there is one and you play as Sheperd again.
But I'm going off what the Queen has said in both ME1 and ME2. Yes, I'm pretty damn sure she's gonna help you. And only your party is about recruiting people. You can still recruit entire races to your cause, which was pretty much part of ME2 for ME3. It's like LotR. Number 1 was about a party, number two was about a party splitting up and one part actually recruited entire armies. THEN THE THIRD ONE IS ABOUT A BIG WAR BETWEEN ARMIES :D

Something tells me ME3 won't disapoint and be like that. I would like to see another inter-stellar war like in ME1 at the citadel.

the conversation with the Asari on Illium regarding the Rachnai makes one wonder how far back to the Rachnai and Reapers actually go. . . . . .the conversation itself is very enlightening.

I'm quite glad the bugs were still singing songs about me in ME2... 'What would Wrex do?' isn't always the best course of action perhaps :)

Heres how i see it.

If you saved the queen on ME1, great, the you have a personal rachni army to back you up

If you did not save the queen, great, on your "recruiting" trip around the galaxy you find a planet which has a surviving rachni population, now its up to you to convince them to join your cause or maybe they will offer to join you.

Either way you WILL get rachni support.

Oh yeah it would be awesome to have a bug army saving those arrogant citadel reaces in the last moment no?

Ah, yes, "Rachni" A race of sentient bugs supposed living on Noveria. Ah, we have dismissed that claim.

After the council said that "Ah, yes," line about the reapers I so wanted my paragon Shepard to have a "Remind me why I wasted my time on you folks option"

Dont't forget that the Rachni are very susceptible to Reaper indoctrination.

I am still sceptical about the role they will play in ME3.

It is very well possible to end up like this:

Rachni-Queen: Hello Commander Shepard, we have arrived with our Army to help yo---ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL!

Shepard: Oh-Oh

Yea I really liked that. The detective part was interesting too. Nice to know that the Rachni were never evil but were somehow manipulated by the Reapers.
