Hi All,

I loved Mass Effect but could not get my friends/family to play the games so I decided to create movie edits so they could get the story (and know what the heck I was raving about ).  I edited out the conversation wheel and then recorded/mashed together all possible cut-scenes to create unique movies.  I even edited values/flags in a save game editor to get scenes I needed.

I have worked for years (really!!) to create full-length movie edits of all three ME games, and here they are:

ME1

ME2 (Full-Length)

ME2 (Shorter)

ME3

What do you think?

Be gentle! :)

Curious...same question I tossed to Hobbyman concerning his movies: for the ME3 movie, what ending did you use? Official or a mod?  (If official then I want to be forewarned about it ;-). I rather hope for a mod ending (MEHEM perhaps).

I'll check yours out too along with those of Hobbyman.  I'll be interested to see what different choices you both made.  Hobbyman cut out quite a bit of combat (I'm watching ME1 but took a quick looksee at his ME3 and saw a lot of combat (most, in fact) on Mars was cut. Certainly wouldn't work to show ALL the combat but the movie(s) can work with some representative combat scenes.  Personally, regarding Hobbyman's ME3 movie, I would have done the first combat scene on Mars (showing Cerberus executing workers) and maybe one or two inside the colony to show they are all over and just to show some combat and power usage before having the resolution of the Mars mission play out.  Hobby skipped right to the end (almost).

What about you?

So my movies contain NO GAME-PLAY, I wanted to go for a movie look and game-play footage took away the immersion I wanted.   As for the ending of ME3, I was going to use the MEHEM but as I built the film it got darker so I went with the destroy ending but without the star child!   The ending, like the rest of the film, is my personal blend of cut-scenes so the ending is different from the Official or MEHEM.  There is so much that could be included that you have to be ruthless in editing or you will end up with a 12 hour film (my ME2 movies is 6 hours!).

Hope you enjoy watching them!

Then my other question is: I like the convo wheel not being there (would screw up a "movie") but, I'm wondering how you selected conversations without seeing the wheel? Did you go with whatever the default was and just hit enter whenever a conversation popped up?

Nope, I edited the coalesced.ini file to hide the convo wheel with a hot-key,  I would hide it until the animation/voice-over stopped, then select what I wanted fron the convo wheel, then hide it again.  I recorded ALL the possible dialog options for EACH cut-scene, then I edited pieces of them all together to get the convo I wanted.  I had to reload and replay the same cut-scene many times to get all the different combos.

Jacob's loyalty mission is a good example of what I did, it is a mix of convo branches:

As is Miranda's:

If you watch the movies you will see bits of different convo branches all mixed together, some are even pieces of 2 cut-scenes merged into one.  This took hundreds of hours to do, but I really got to know the games!

Really good job cool-ness. I would really like an option for hiding the entire HUD for my ME3 movie because it is creating a big "unmovie" feeling.

Also, Getorex, you also stated in my post that you saw my ME2 and ME3 movies, which I haven't made yet....Are you sure they are posted from me? The first two movies that I posted in youtube is  just ME1 in two parts.

Hobbyman,

Use this mod: http://social.biowar.../project/2825/

It has a hot-key to hide the entire HUD during game-play and the convo wheel in cut-scenes.  (With no HUD I had to use a tiny piece of tape on my monitor so I knew where the targeting circle was so I could shoot straight!)

I found out this video yesterday which can make my life much easier and the movie much better. Thanks for the info cool-ness.

Edit: Too late I searched for it though, since it seems that all three ME games can be modified the same way to remove the HUD. Oh, well :).

You got it now Hobbyman!

This is what the mod does for ME2 and what I manually edited for ME3.  Enjoy!

I've occasionally thought about taking all the ME gameplay video I saved from my canon Shepard and editing it into a sort of "documentary" from a post-ME3 perspective. I'd present it as a production by the Alliance News Network and use an animation and/or voice creation program to edit in a narrator and then present clips of the major events from the three games. Do you all think this is something people would be interested in watching?

I would...  It could be a good way to sum things up before MEA

So I'm at it again...  I created a shorter version of my ME2 movie edit, for some reason people are reluctant to watch a 6 hour epic, so I cut it down to 3!

Finished reworking my ME2 movie to make Liara the love interest (instead of Miranda).  Feedback is more then welcome!
