Um... sure. But that was exactly my point. If crafting makes the game too easy, then caring about what the RNG gives you rather than just using whatever you get is counterproductive. Your argument here is that crafting and abusing the RNG is needed to make the game easy enough for you, which is a completely different argument.

When DAI first came out I was able to craft items better than the in game items(the crafting system was OP from the start), it was one aspect of the game I disliked. Before the golden nug, the RNG loot system was giving me crap items or schems I couldn't use(if I was a Mage I got a lot of rouge schems and hardly ever got Mage schems, same with warrior).

Yeah, I keep forgetting that looks are a thing.

But I can't think of a situation where more control wouldn't just equate to more power anyway.

I do like playing dress up.

As to control. For weapons in ME3, for example, I like that I could choose 2 boosts out of damage output, ammo capacity, power recharge rate, scope, etc. Sure, you might be able to argue why a certain two are statistically the best choice. But I like being able to tailor builds to different combat styles.

Like, imagine if Game of Thrones was ruled by RNG and the Red Viper kept finding good heavy axes and crappy spears.

The part I don't get is that,if the crafting was already OP from the start, how does getting more useful schematics help? How does that not make things even worse?

Also, what does your PC's class have to do with anything? Unless you were soloing, of course.

Umm... actually, you don't. When you Google that you find out that those schematics are for sale in either Stone-Bear Hold or the Black Emporium, depending on tier, and the helm itself is in a dragon hoard. Though that doesn't really mean anything other than that this particular helmet isn't a great example of what you're talking about.

Not when I played it (pre-Emporium).

And the Dragon Loot didn't work, cause I wanted it in black.

I'm shallow that way with my video game characters.
