I have an intermittent issue where the dialogue stutters and then is cut short. This occurrs about once every 3 minutes. Outside of dialogue, there still is stuttering of movement and sound, but not quite so often.

Is there a fix for these issues with stability? What other information is needed?

Here are system specs if they will help with support:

Man i really want to keep this thread alive and let em know. I have the same issue. I've tried almost everything. I even upgraded audio driver and had the same darn result. I just don't get it. It isn't winodws 7 since they've been having the same issues with ME1 pc at launch (which at the time vista and xp is what we were all using). The only way I can really point to the problem. Is it being specifically a in game bug. Or possibly apart of the engine. Now what I don't get is why it inherited this problem from the original mass effect as well? I really hope there is a resolve for this issue as I am not a very happy customer. Awesome game BTW, it's just. ARGH! Bug issues!

wait a minute! you use a gigabyte mother board? Is there anyone else that has this issue that also has a gigabyte motherboard on their pc? I think the problem might be specifically liked to that. If i can concoct a remedy by tweaking the clock setting it just might work! since this doesn't effect everyone.

I too have a gigabyte motherboard with Nvidia 650i chipset. and the dialogue issue is annoying as all get out! please tell me there is a fix, the game is almost no fun to play when half the sentences are truncated in such a way. makes everyone sound like they are choking on their own spit. Not only that but the opening video was WAY out of sync, it appeared to be like 5 or 6 seconds out of sync...

I wonder if it is an SLI issue like last time...

My rig:
Intel Q6600
Gigabyte 650imobo
8GB RAM
SLI GTX 260 core 216's (EVGA)
Windows 7 Pro x64

It's not the board -- the common element in all the threads about this is the onboard Realtek adapter.

"Realtek High Definition Audio" + "Windows 7"

You can 'work around it' in most cases if you get the latest Realtek drivers and set your system sound settings to STEREO vs 5.1. It's a pain, but it's better than playing the game to muttering and subtitiles.

well before even installed the realtek thingy. It still had this issue. But i totally agree. In the opening of the game there were completely out of sync in the voices. Perhaps the developers that tested the Pc version didn't have realtek. But as you and I know. A large majority of pc users have it. I know now as a fact that it isn't windows 7 alone that is causing this issue. I think i might have an idea. Ill reply back if it works

I do not have realtek on my board, it is some generic crap, I even tried installing a realtek driver and it said I did not have realtek sound, so definately not realtek...

I have been messing with the bios with no success and i tried disable my on-board sound since i have a sound card and that didn't work. If you look closely for the sound cut offs the game knows it. Like right as the sound cuts of the next bit of dialogue is played. So the problem is that the game is not giving the proper amount of time for the full dialogue to be spoken. But still no solution. Hopefully a bioware guy knows what to change to make it give more time to speak a particular line of dialogue.

I beat ME1 on XP a long time ago (in about march-april, 09) and never touched it again until a few weeks ago, Now I am on Windows 7, but when I try to go back to XP (i have dual boot) it still have the same issues. so I think it has something to do with Windows 7 interacting with the Gigabyte motherboard. IDK thats just my guess.

Solution for the realtek issue (fixes ME1 and ME2):

1.reboot

2.enter bios on start

3.set overclock to STANDARD

4.save & exit

worked for me

I have every dialogue file cut off 1-2 seconds from the end and they get out of sync in longer sequences, otherwise audio is fine. Win7 and Abit AB9 Pro Mobo... Realtek HD yes *But* the issue also appeared with a USB audio device (MBox Pro) so it shouldn't be that...

I've been having the exact same issue both with ME1 and now with ME2. I'm also using a gigabyte mobo, Realtek HD audio and win 7.

I've tried every suggestion on these boards and nothing's worked. Glad to see i'm not the only one having this exact issue though. Bioware please look into this as it's very frustrating to have the same problem from one game carry over into the sequel a year later.

Rather than setting your overclock to standard just don't set it to auto.

Some BIOSes allow you to overclock just the CPU and memory, that is known as an FSB overclock. What you don't want to do is overclock the PCI bus. When the BIOS is set to auto overclock it may overclock the PCI bus which will intefere with the timing on the soundchip. So if you have the option you can set "do not overclock the PCI bus" while setting a manual overclock of the FSB or CPU/memory bus.

zBobG, I get what you're saying, but I never tried overclocking my bios settings. It was the default setting *shrug*

I think I may have fixed it on my end. Went into device manager and disabled my Realtek Audio device. I had a second soundcard  that I made my default in it's place (ATI HD audio device). The dialogue no longer cuts out short, there is still some very minor syncing issues on the longer cutscenes (mainly the intro) but it's miles better than it was.
