I'm just going to leave this here.

Lavellan's, very noxious, and capable of spitting poison.
Yeah, that sure sounds like the Lavellan fandom on Tumblr. XD
Lavellan means giant rat in ancient elven... head canon accepted.
That description fits my Mytjan. He too, could poison cattle from miles away using his poisonous arrows. And his face was awkward, but adorable. And he was fluffy as the void. But he couldn't swim and was deadly afraid of water. Mixture of traumatic childhood and technical limitations. Explaining his horrid odor.
I love rats! ![]()
Oh, Bioware... Naming your elf character after a rodent. Subtle!
Cory calls you a rat when you fight him as a lavellan.
Lavellans can spit poison? Awesome!
Good thing my Adaar doesn't have to deal with this. My name is weapon. I am a living weapon of destruction
Alternatively, project elvhen has hypothesised that Lavellan (Las + val + an) means something more along the lines of: "They who journey to a hopeful place".

Please keep in mind that Project Elvhen is essentially one big (albeit highly reinforced) fan theory that focuses on the expansion/rediscovery of the elvhen language. Deducing (and later getting a tweet that confirmed it) that the elvhen language was made with a cipher, they have since looked at and evaluated every known instance of the elvhen language in order to create a more comprehensive guide.
As someone who mainly plays as elves I could be offended. However there is some cattle nearby, which means I have more important things to do.

Halash. Hebrew for weak. Cad. Dishonorable one.
Lavellan. Rodent. Poisonous. Antidote to poison.
Trevelyian. Farmstead of Elian. Derived from... Helios. Light and sun.
Addar. Adar. Ruler. Fire.
Mix this alltogether and you got the Inquisitor, just different facets. The Human being the most noble, the Qunari being the most dominating and destructive, the Elf being the small one that hurts things but also helps them. The Dwarf being the shifty one that steps up from the results of disaster.
This is all the character we play, and the symbolism we follow. Based on the stuff I listed and other things I read. A relative nobody, though with some hints of a noble lineage or past (even for example, the House Cadash theories out there), who steps up to their ancestral power after being part of bringing damage to others, coming to ascend to rule them and divinely saving them from their enemies.
So who has made the most ratlike Lavellan?

So... Solavellan literally means Sun Rat.

I'll admit I am very partial to my Lavellan (as noted by my profile pic she did turn out to be my favorite Quizziez), but this sir ... this made my day.
Behold my powers of poison, for I am mighty. Cattle quake before my tiny water shrew like claws! Those that do not believe mine powers shall die before they reach a hundred steps. ALL SHALL LOVE ME AND DESPAIR! ![]()
I'm okay with this.So... Solavellan literally means Sun Rat.
