Does AP / CHD sound like a plan? Or am I going down the wrong road?

If you don't have Life on Kill, get as much of that as possible... otherwise yeah.

If you haven't promoted cunning very much, Critical Chance is usually better than CHD.

First: You can´t get Heal on Kill in dagger upgrades.

Second: With lower stats, or maybe until you have 200 cunning, the Tier 2 Dagger Grip is the best choice in my opinion. It gives you (with tier 3 materials) +4 Critical Chance and +7 Cunning (a total of +7,5% crit chance. Having those in both daggers is +15% crit, which is very nice as long as you do not auto crit.

Third: Once you have enough crit chance you can replace them with the Tier 3 Grips, giving you +Attack and +Crit damage bonus or +Armor penetration and + Crit damage bonus.

As far as non-AOE dagger grips I'm not sure I'd be willing to trade 21% Attack or 36% Armor Penetration for 5% Critical Chance. Which is what you end up doing by using the Tier 2 instead of the Tier 3 Ornate Dagger Grip.

Especially because the dagger rogues have an inflated critical chance from passives. Sneak Attack.

Ornate Dagger Grip:

6 Dawnstone / 3 Craggy Skin = +18% Armor Penetration, +9% Critical Damage
6 Dawnstone / 3 Great Bear Hide = +18% Armor Penetration, +5% Critical Chance

6 Everite / 3 Craggy Skin = +11% Attack, +9% Critical Damage

6 Everite / 3 Great Bear Hide = +11% Attack, +5% Critical Chance

Dense Dual-Blade Grip:

6 Craggy Skin / 3 Craggy Skin = +27% Critical Damage
6 Great Bear Hide / 3 Great Bear Hide = +16% Critical Chance
6 Great Bear Hide / 3 Craggy Skin = +11% Critical Chance, +9% Critical Damage
6 Craggy Skin / 3 Great Bear Hide = +18% Critical Damage, +5% Critical Chance

It is as I did but I often had copies of daggers using different upgrades using them depending on agent. I rarely used + crit for Assassing for example once I got the flanking Crit passive, but overall Pronto is correct and his explanation is much better than mine :D

I don't see a lot of choices for dagger grips because there is only 1 t3 schematics if I remember correctly...

If you play mostly Perilous or below, go for crit chance / crit damage.

If you play mostly NM and above and you are using Hakkon's Mercy (or Mercies) then go for armour penetration.

I am using 11% Atk and 5% CC on both daggers.   I am not sure if 18% AP is better than 11% Atk.... hard to pick.   I think I read somewhere that AP does not work well in NM... so I picked 11% Atk.

Lol I thought it's the other way around  :D It's better than attack in my experience, and I think ThirdRace gave a really detailed evaluation of when to use armour penetration somewhwere...

Armor Penetration is good for NM where mobs have higher armor. But, the assassin has cheapshot which makes it less useful. Duelist is the character that benefits most from Armor Pen.

Tried to switch out +Attack with +Armor Pen last night.  I don't know how it would work in NM, but for Perilous, AP is a lot worst than Attack.   +AP is about twice the amount of +Atk, but the damage is down by about the same % of Atk I dropped.  I am guessing Perilous foes got no armor?   Since I play mostly in Perilous, I will have to switch back to +Atk.

Attack is better in Perilous.
