I swear to God that when I read your post it said demand. If I'm wrong don't worry about it.

You are wrong, and I will worry about it. All you had to do was read your own reply instead of calling me a liar.

But Sheploo is the most handsome face ever... All of my other sheps look ducked faced.

No, now I remember what I was referring to. You said "must be removed" making it sound like I was demanding something.

The comparison doesn't work because Inquisition doesn't have any iconic character faces.

You can't fully compare DAI and Mass Effect in this matter. Reason is simple - multiple fantasy races options in DAI and only human option in ME.

But you can compare it with DA2 where was only one race option and there they used iconic face too.

I agree, but I still don't see how the iconic faces in DA2 were beneficial to the experience. DA2 also had pretty crappy graphics so it wasn't as easy to notice the better detail and custom hair that wasn't available outside of modding. I just don't see the benefit of the iconic face other than it looks good on the box art. It always ends up looking better than anything the player can create with the limited tools available in the character creator.

I don't see why they would need to have an iconic face face for the protagonist. Having an iconic set of armor and helmet face would work just as well. We only have to look at iconic characters like Master Chief and Samus to see that.

That would probably work, yeah. It's also kinda what they did in Inquisition; the PC was recognized thanks to the helmet and the Mark, not their face.

I think that all faces, including the defaults, should be made with options that the player can use for their own custom PC. Take FemShep's default hair. There's no reason it couldn't be part of the CC, but for some reason it wasn't.

Agree.  In addition, why not allow the player to make some minor changes to the default face. I'm basically lazy and don't want to spend hours and hours trying to come up with a custom face and am generally fine with a default, but why can't I at least be able to change the hair style, hair color and eye color of the default face?

Because then it isn't iconic anymore and doesn't match the box art. They're very picky about it apparently.

Eh, never really bothered me since Sheploo looks just like me (minus the derpness) There was also the default FemShep but she was never iconic until ME3 and even then to me she was too ugly for me to care.

So long as it's only used as an advertisement and not some canon nonsense then I don't care. I do hate how they're more polished than any character created Shepard though.

I really don't agree with this request.

You could make a very detailed Shepard come ME2 & 3. But the default Shepard being the face of the series or any default face shouldn't really bug anyone all that much. It make marketing easier and lets those who just want to jump right in have someone thet can instantly choose because not everyone wants to fumble through the CC

I suppose with the new engine and better graphics, this should be kind of irrelevant now.

They always end up looking more detailed and just overall better than any of the custom faces. It's just kind of annoying that no matter how much time and energy I put into a character's facial features, they will never look as detailed as a real person's face that has been scanned into the game's engine.

Why does some other face that some other player is using matter to you?

The issue I had with the Trilogy was no matter how long I tried making a Custom Shepard they always ended up looking worse than the NPC's thus I always ended up using Sheploo everytime. So if the CC in MEA wont be able to create the same quality of character appearances for our Pathfinders that the NPCs in game will have I say just give us 5 or 6 extremely detailed faces to choose from and be done with it.

My feeling on it is basically this: at this point, the character creator should be good enough to recreate the default.

I never use default faces, so I really don't care much.

I do think the default should be recreatable in the CC though, and be the first preset.

You couldn't even recreate Sheploo in these newfangled CC's(like Black Desert) that everyone on the internet is creaming their jeans over, and those hyper-in-depth CC's come at great cost. BioWare has shown that CC's are not their strong suit so unless they can just port over something amazing I would rather they devote their efforts to actual content, rather than aesthetic fluff. Maybe some other EA studio using the FB3 engine is working on an amazing CC that MEA can make use of?

This is a valid point B-Wares track record with CC is pretty ****** to be honest I think they need a Default Appearance so that's gonna happen I'm just suggesting give us Face Presets that are Sheploo Quality B-Ware come on man.

DAI's was pretty nice, and I'm guessing Andromeda will only improve on that. I'm hoping to pick an iconic PC tho.

It doesn't unless it also impacts my experience. In this case it does.

Well the only picture they've shown of our protagonist was fully clad in N7 armor:

New_Mass_Effect_Details_31.jpg

I could be mistaken, but I believe the real life model Shepard's face was based on was shown in the earliest reveal of ME1 long before it released.

Not that Dragon Age Inquisition is necessarily an indication, but BioWare seems to be focusing now on the hero wearing an iconic set of armor with his/her face hidden as a way of not taking agency away from the player. I never identified my Shepard with default maleShep, so it makes a lot of sense if this is their new marketing strategy.

This makes a good deal of sense.  They've worked very hard to press the N7 brand.  Try to buy almost any ME merchandise and it's spackled with the N7 logo.  Which is clever on their part.

Making the armor the iconic look saves them the trouble.  It follows the Halo/Master Chief route (which they've clearly demonstrated they want to pull elements from).

I think Bioware should have another male model for the default protagonist and also a female model this time too. It just works better for those who like ready made iconic characters without having to mess around making faces. Also matching the box art to a tangible image is a good sales tactic.

Yeah it does. Having a scanned face in the game makes every custom character of mine look bad by comparison.

That's a moronic reason not to have a scanned face. You can't even see the scanned face in the game if you use a custom one.

Does the existence of more attractive people make your life worse?

It negatively impacts my existence, yes.
