Then to person who never plays with defaults (unless game has non-customizable main protagonist) it feels quite weird to see default face on things. It's like seeing important character of the game that you have never encountered in the actual game.

Most of the stuff I see after release didn't use a default Shep in the first place... unless it's a joke meme like "We'll bang, OK?" or the creepy smile GIF. So by the time I had the game this didn't come up.

I have bit issues with iconic faces as well. I get that it makes marketing game easier, but I hate how default face is seperate from customized one's, you can't usually customize default face and then default look has great things like hairstyle or even iconiq things like Hawke's blood smear that you can't add to custom face and that sucks. Why should default face get all the good and iconiq stuff?

Yeah but to be fair the CC for the ME Trilogy was *** and DA2's CC wasn't much better although DAI was a major step in the right direction though but MEA & the next Dragon Age need a better CC and thats a fact.

I'm speaking about both official and fanwork.

I like making my own character and always do if i can but I agree with whoever it was that said it's worse with companions that look miles better than your char than the default.

This on so many lvls its the reason everyone of my over 2 dozen ME 1 & 2 PTs all were default Shepard except one which was a CC but it didnt transition very well across the trilogy so no other CCs was made and combine that with the fact that the NPC/Squadmates looked so much better than any CC you made in game"without mods" and that was the final nail in the coffin for the CC in the ME Trilogy.

I'm just being sarcastic. It's not that I don't troll, it's just that I usually save that for my friends or people I know. I created this as a serious topic of discussion and unfortunately it's sort of gone awry. That being said, I think we got off to a bad start and I apologize for calling you a liar.

If they could make custom faces look just as detailed and realistic as a face scan, I'd be all for leaving them in. I just don't think they're going to be able to do that. So my proposal is to not include a 'iconic' face and instead opt for everything being custom. That way everything is on the same level.

just ignore Killroy...Almost all of his posts are him attacking/demeaning/criticizing someone else's post.  So him calling you a troll is stupid hilarious and ironic.

I don't get why it bothers you so much.  If you don't use it you never see it.  Yeah it kinda sucks you can't make a face quite as detailed...But personally I prefer always making my character(s) when I can..I hate using default characters and never used Sheploo during the dozens of times I played all 3 games.  But if others like using the more detailed default character...it's kinda selfish to prefer they take it away if a custom char can't look as good.  No offense meant.

I don't mind it really that the fully created from scratch faces couldn't be as detailed in ME, etc.  I expect the CC will be better this time round.  With those, I would have liked to be able to alter them after the start of the game.  Not being able to do so and not wanting to spend days creating a face for myself made me less willing to even bother trying... so I usually played with the default.

As for the "iconic" default face, I found it ironic that the game focuses on building a different personality for the PC but wholeheartedly denied, for example, that a really Renegade ShepLoo might have decided to grow out his hair in ME2 whereas as one whose heart was still with the Alliance may have kept the military cut... and, similarly, that he may have made such changes mid-game when he may have started to feel differently about his situation than he did the moment he woke up.  There are things people do everyday to change how they look to express the changes they make to their character that don't physically change their "iconic" face.  For me, it's more about being able to match the Shep to the character profile I was developing throughout the game than it was about not having just a "pretty face."

It's just a helmet. Beth did the same thing with Skyrim.

Not saying it's a bad thing. Just pointing out you don't need an iconic face to make iconic advertisement regarding the protagonist

I believe they should have an iconic default character for male and female.  My personal experience, I would use the default male shep and then customize femshep, also most of my friends who played ME used the default male shep. I didn't like the defaults for DA:I, none of them felt right to me and I didn't want to spend hours making one, sometimes you feel like making one and have time, sometimes you don't and it would be nice sometimes to just select the default scanned face (if they do scan faces again for ME:A).

Did she forget to get dressed?

Iconic face is fine as long as they do both genders.

Well you may like your action heroes wondering around half naked but I don't, regardless of gender (I assume that was a BUT LOOK AT THE MAAANNNNNNN HE'S TOPLESS TOOOOOOOOOOO! post but i can't be arsed to even begin to argue about the false equivalances between the two images).

You assumed wrong. I posted the second image because I felt like posting some sexy man art to follow sexy woman art.

I couldn't post the male equivalence of the original image whether I wanted to or not without getting in trouble anyway.
