So I am trying to finish everything in the Hinterlands before moving along to the next area and so I find a guy in Redcliffe who lost his Ram. He mentions something about the Ram speaking to him. I dont really pay attention.

I find the ram by a lake, and wow it starts speaking to me. Cool. All done with the quest and my journal is updated "go back and collect your reward". As I turn around, a thought creeps into my head, "Wth? Why would a ram be talking? What if I tried to kill it? Could I even do that? Nah, no way quest already updated. Well let me just try a quick stab"

BAM! Ram turns into a demon. I actually even get scared and quickly hit up tactic mode. The demon was easy to kill, but love the approach this game takes. Everything is pretty much your decision. Not sure what loot I missed from the reward, but was a cool little thing that happened to me 10 mins ago.

I accidently killed Lord Woolsey when I fight a bear near the spot, he was supposed to be. When the bear attacked, Lord Woolsey was frolicking around Blackwalls cabin, but just when Dorian hurled a fireball, Wollsey had to come looking, what all this fuss was about ... and got hit by Dorians fireball. It happend all so fast, that I was confused at first, where that demon suddenly came from. I was naive enough to think, that Woolsey really just was a special ram (I love the rams in DAI, they are so cute, they can't possible be evil  )

I'm not sure, if I should return him home the next time, I get this quest. At one hand, the demon seems to have helped that family for years now, maybe he is a bit like that desire demon back in DAO with the templar, who just wanted to know about human feelings. On the other hand, it's a demon and nothing good can come from them (I knew that even before playing DA, being a big Supernatural fan - and the WInchesters always got screwed, when they put their trust in demons)

But then, my inqui is not supposed to know about Woolsey being a demon.

Its actions make it more likely it was a spirit, and that it turned into a demon after you attacked it.

I don't think it talks, but the Herald states that it seemed to understand. Upon hearing that I immediately thought it was a demon and attacked it. Turned out I was right. I think that is what really made that quest interesting.

Are you sure you weren't mistaking the Inquisitor for the ram? The Inquisitor sheepishly asks Lord Woolsey to return to One-Eyed Jimmy.

This is what I've always thought.

... That does not sound safe. I don't think I can trust spirits living alongside humans or being like humans anymore.

Spirit: Ah, what a lovely day today, I can't wait to smell the flowers and appreciate butterflies!

Random kid: Ugh, I hate target practice! I suck at archery, I always miss the apple! *accidentally shoots spirit*

Spirit: YOU HAVE ANGERED ADUCHAMIGON, YOU HAVE CHALLENGED WARLORD AND CONQUEROR OF THE DEPTHS OF THE ABYSS, THE TRUE DOMINION OF MORTALS AND DEMON OF PRIDE. *devours kid*

Unless I'm mistaken, Solas will say this himself if he's in the party at the time.

The Avvar manage to live beside spirits and even invoke them in battle.

I think you have to recognize the potential danger that even benign spirits pose, but they're not like land mines. By all accounts, Lord Woolsey lived with Jimmy's family for generations.

But spirits typically don't want to live in the real world. Demons do. There are special exceptions though. Justice was trapped, and didn't want to live in the real world, but he endured it. Cole was similar to this, but he was twisted into a demon before realizing what he was. I think the fact Woolsey turned into a demon right away is a good indication that it was a rage demon all along.

Don't worry, I was exaggerating. Even humans can pose a threat, it's why laws exist.

Lord Woolsley is chill, he would probably just gently head-butt the kid.
