There are to be side-quests of course and they are very fun if:

-THEY ARE NOT GENERIC - diversity please! We don't need Preston Garvey Junior once more in another game.

-THEY HAVE CINEMATIC OR FEW- believe it or not this greatly helps improve atmosphere of quests and also people are more willing to take interest.

-THEY ARE ENGAGING LIKE MAIN QUEST - ^like above add cinematic or two related to that quest, make story actually fun and engaging so players care to take it. In DA:I there was elf woman who's husband was murdered by templars by mistake and while story is sad problem is.....it feels like another generic quest that you don't care to do because there is zero emotion in that woman whatsoever and the way she tells her supposed sad story just sounds like "I'm being possessed by Preston, so no emotions in here", pretty much her sad story doesn't sound sad the way she tells it. So yeah next time give a better atmosphere that doesn't scream "Be meh delivery boy/girl"...hell Bruce Wayne had more emotions in his voice then that woman who's husband got killed  <_<

-THEY HAVE CONSEQUENCES - There is nothing more worst then bothering to do some really really boring quest like sealing rifts for example in DA:I and trying to gather as many 'power' only to find out that you could have saved yourself trouble by not doing it because there is no consequence at all if you don't do any of it. This is seriously bad way of doing quest because right now statues, flowers, grass, clouds and etc. has way bigger meaning then your quest, because unlike your quest at least these ones are here to make game look more pretty.

-THEY ARE ACTUALLY REWARDING - ^Just like above, there is nothing worst then bothering to do some quest only for so called "reward" to be more useless then Cait Sith in FF7. So if you are to ignore all above of how "good side-quest" should be and if ti needs to be booooooring(read this in Deadpool's voice), then at least give me good reward that isn't some junk that you can't even sell.

-THEY ARE EPIC AND CAN BE MOST MEMORABLE THING EVER - Like this:

Do you wish me to make another romance thread instead?

Complain about all who I couldn't romance? Or should I speak unconfirmed rumors? Make troll threads?

Just asking since apparently the ones ^are way more fun aren't they  ;)

I'd prefer you to not make any new thread and instead post in the many threads about side quests already. Of course, I'm not the dictator of the Bio boards so do as you wish!

I would have preferred if Inquisition had 10 great sidequests instead of the 200 terrible, nothing "sidequests" they tossed in. Sidequests are the medium for injecting intrigue and interesting departures from the rest of the game, not the medium for boring your customers to tears. Want a quest with horror elements? Sidequest. Want a quest that's a fun caper? Sidequest. Want a quest that's a mystery story? Sidequest.

Sorry for not seeing all these "many many many" threads of mine.

They most likely got buried by all of the threads I mentioned above...so in that case time to bring this type of thread back because at least it concerns the game as no.1 as no.2 I'm not forcing you to be here. There are countless threads in here that make my eyes roll as well but I tend to click on them and exit them just the same if I have zero interest in doing "repeats" in here.

Well I only joined these forums recently, so instead of navigating through endless other threads to find one that has been posted before, I'll post here if that's ok :)

I liked the N7 side quests in ME:3, but the ones with more story and atmosphere and all the other things you cited above, are of course more ideal for Andromeda.

I loved the ones like Grissom Academy and the Ardat-Yakshi Monastery, they both had links to the overall narrative in ME:3, as well as there own little self-contained stories. As to the depth of both of the plots in those missions, I suppose that depends on who you are bringing into ME:3 from ME:2.

I am looking forward to seeing sidequests like these and the such in ME:A  :D

Welcome to these forums first babe  ;)

As for other as this thread as I said I didn't see "twin brother of mine" thread anywhere near....so it must be buried somewhere lol And the ones who have problem with this one because "someone made it somewhere in past before" can feel free to complain to all romance/hair/speculation threads first who are spammed over trillion times, before they can come to whine at me for mine who's some other big brother/s thread was made in past and is no where to be seen now.

I have a three-year-old so....

 Side quests are very fun to do, fun to do, fun to do! Side quests are very fun to do, to do, to do, to do!

Ok, I got it out of my system.  :bandit:

I will agree that the Silver Shroud Fallout 4 side quest was brilliant and unexpected. I love it

I have problems with Witcher 3 side quests though. They never ever end!!!! Go get this thing. Oh, you have to talk to that person first, who lives in this town 500 miles away. Oh, on your way back, can you go slaughter these monsters for me a few villages away? Otherwise I might die in my sleep tonight.

And as far as making new threads as opposed to finding and posting old threads, I always use the little search bar in the right hand corner before posting a thread. But that's what I do. I don't mind talking about the same things over and over. It's not like there's anything new to talk about for awhile.

The OP is flawed. BGS has always had a tradition of having great side quest content, while their main quest is almost always atrocious.

BioWare, on the other hand, almost always has a great main quest. However, their side quest content typically tends to be either hit or miss. The only "side quest content" that I would consider of quality from BioWare is usually the bigger DLC content that has a focus on storytelling.

Ha! Indeed ... I could really do without the Bioware-find-a-letter-chantry-board-side-quests that offer nothing of any kind of story. but Witcher 3 took it a bit far sometimes.

As far as side-quests in MEA go - I simply hope they are kind of engaging, and fun, both to play and to watch. And that they are "staged" more interestingly. With that I mean (short) cutscenes that give us some action (and not necessarily endless talking, again looking at you Witcher, and DAI as well)

I just replayed DAI and the Exalted Plains and couldn't help but thinking: It would have been a bit better already if, for example, they had some minor cutscenes showing how those army-ramparts are attacked by demons and undead. Or if the assault on that last fortress with the fire-tower-trap would have some spectacular little movie showing the power of that thing. And if some of the tougher enemies/bosses around the place would have some short engaging speech before we kill them, to give them at least some kind of personality ...

Thread about unconfirmed romances with trolls would be really refreshing.

Can I just point out that the Minutemen quests are boring and repetitive and that if you talk to Preston Garvey repeatedly that it will eventually drive you insane as you visit the same settlements over and over again to save the same people who you rescued from their kidnappers only five minutes ago and/or who need ghouls cleared out from the same location that you just cleared out for the ten millionth time in the game?

I mean, I just find it completely hilarious that you have a picture of the one individual who represents the WORST type of side quests in FO4 right below the Silver Shroud video. The FO4 Radiant quests handed out by Preston Garvey and the NPCs who fulfill a similar role in their respective FO4 factions (like Tinker Tom and the MILA quests for the Railroad) are tedious and useless and are, as far as I'm concerned, an example of the most boring kinds of side quests that you can possibly put in a game - and I say that as someone who actually enjoyed FO4 overall.

I don't disagree that closing rifts in DA:I can be repetitive, but you know what? You only have to close each rift once and then it's over with, never to bother you again - unlike the eternal kidnapping victims in FO4 or the settlements that require my <insert multiple expletives here> help yet again. I hate, hate, HATE settlement quests at this point.

It would be okay if it were voluntary instead of Preston nagging you every time you talk to him. Now I definitely found things like the Silver Shroud and Nick Valentine's quest to find Eddie Winters to be fun, but you want to know the one problem with the majority of FO4's side quests? As people have repeatedly pointed out elsewhere (and as I myself know from personal experience), a lot of the side quests in FO4 can only be resolved through violence and killing. That applies to quite a few of the main quests as well - it's largely just kill, kill, kill even though I do recall one side quest where I miraculously didn't have to kill anyone (plus that part in Nick's recruitment mission where I was allowed to walk away without murdering everyone).

I want inventive side quests that have unique dialogue and the ability to resolve those quests in different ways (like talking people down), but if I had to choose between closing a rift ONCE and having to rescue the same bloody people from kidnappers for the rest of their natural lives (because they keep stupidly getting kidnapped ALL THE TIME) thanks to Bethesda's crappy Radiant system, I'll take the rifts in DA:I, tyvm.

The OP is right. I bet you're one of these who love to post and demand on the stupid romance threads. Bioware should be reminded of this.

Side quests are a good opportunity to flesh out your character's personality. This is the reason one of the most remembered ones in Jade Empire was the one with the slave girl - it was one of the few chances in the game to clearly follow the philosophy of the closed fist.

The best sidequests in ME1 are the ones related to your pre-service history / psychological profile (I remember me). On the other hand I never bother doing the geth ones since it's just a lot of shooty shooty. Or making traps for whats-her-name in Lothering.

If the quest has something to do with you, it's more engaging because it makes you think what to do.

Also, you don't need to categorize all side content as quests. You can put people you can talk to. That isn't a quest but fills up the world all the same. The desire demon who possessed a templar giving him an imaginary family comes to mind. Or the wounded krogan in Mordin's loyalty. Life is Strange is full of these types of interactions that aren't quests but add up, bringing the setting to life.

Kill the fat man with the knife and you will be free.

Otherwise your weakness condemns you and your mother to slavery.

Honestly? I'd have taken the kid from her mother regardless, giving the mother a pittance for her child.

Honestly it isn't often you get a chance to directly apply philosophy on disciples as children. It reeks of fate.

She'd make a adept apprentice if nothing else, she's already killed and enjoyed it, reveled in the power of holding life between your hands, now you can offer her that and more.

Like I said it reeks of fate.

Enjoyable, engaging side quests are always welcomes as far as I'm concerned but then again I"m rather easy to please and would also be happy if we could skip the side quests if we wanted at as well, sometimes you just want to blast through the story for one reason or another but can't because you need to do side missions or activities that you find pretty dull. Didn't have so much of a problem of this in DAI but a lot of my runs needed breaks because I tried to do all the side quests areas offer me just about every time which makes the game dull pretty fast. Granted this could be true as well even if the side quests are good but if they're good and have different ways of going about them it'll make the replay value last a little longer imo.
