Ooooh, right.

I'd be beyond heated if that happened.  Then again, I never liked Star Wars.

It's funny (and sad) when you think about it. People wanted a DLC ending for ME3 and we end up getting that for DAI instead.

It does seem that DAI team kinda follows things that ME team does but not always for the better.

It is weird that they went with DLC for the true ending but lets hope that MEA is going to be a complete game. Maybe all this development time will do good. Honestly I just want it to turn out well so that ME doesn't die. There really aren't that many scifi games out there and especially RPG's are kinda stuck in the whole "fantasy" bit.

Bioware really missed it here, the big oportunity to troll us fans so hard and get a marketing coup de luxe ... by simply releasing the end (and I am talking about an action-packed final long mission right after Shep wakes up in rubble, not just that sad EC-credit-stuff) as a Free-LC a month or two after release as a surprise. Or, considering the immediate shitestorm that came up, maybe with a little hint that we are not done yet. Would have been risky still, but in hindsight, the real shitestorm was far worse than the Free-LC-End would have been ...

Ah, one can dream about what could have been ... instead: Art ... yeah...right ... *chuckle*. Would have preferred a marketing-ploy this time around...

That's the thing. They did it for DAI (different people I know, but still) so why not ME? People wanted to know what happened to Solas, especially if we romanced him and then we are told the quest was cut, but a DLC was made to give us a true and final ending. It was the Citadel DLC of DA and that goodbye was a happy one with your Inquisitor and their lover together with all their companions, despite the fear of the Inquisitor's death hinted at throughout the whole story.

Maybe they didn't want an ME3 repeat? I heard it was terrible. I myself only got into ME last year so I'm not as affected as others, but I can understand how they must have felt.

Shinobi is a known leaker who claims we will get a short window between major announcement and release, like Fallout 4 did, at E3 this year. Hes been right on so many occasions, it seems legit to me, watch the video here.

If it's all so unbearable then why are you here?

Well, I think it is a realistic thought that the Trespasser-DLC and content is partly a result of the ME3-backlash. No proof on my side, but I think it makes sense...

However, in ME3 they were already done and done with their DLC-plans and all that, they never could have done a true ending-DLC (with gameplay and all) just to salvage their misjudged ending-experiment and please the rabid fans like me ^^

Tresspasser: I haven't played it yet but it seems it already proofs one thing: Devs CAN learn and listen from fans, at least for future projects ? Too bad Shepard had to pay the price by ending her adventure with a friggin gameshow and a ghostly boyscout as moderator, instead of a firework

I feel like Citadel should have been after the war and no blown-up Citadel either. I think that place was overused too much as a plot device.

Yes Trespasser ties up everything from DAI, but keeps things open for DA4 and gives us some fun times catching up with old friends after 2 years apart (romances had nice tie-ups too). They took all the things they cut from the game, added more and listened to what fans asked (new clothing, a storage chest was added earlier, the Black Emporium was given to us for free so we could change our look, etc) . Some did not like the Inquisitor's fate but they weren't forced into an option that ruined their happy ending they wanted. They simply are given 2 choices that have nothing to do with them. That's it.

Citadel was pretty great. And yeah I do also feel that it should have been the real ending. It kinda feels that Citadel was like their way of making an ending but still keeping up with the company line.

Lets just hope that they don't go and overreach again. Or try to over-correct.

Ooooh, right.

You do realize that EA doesn't own Star Wars? Right? Disney owns Star Wars. Disney just so happened to give EA a 10 year contract for use of the Star Wars license for creating AAA games. Rogue One is a movie, not a game. It has no consequence whatsoever on when MEA releases as they have nothing in common. Not to mention, I always chuckle when someone calls Star Wars "science fiction." You couldn't be farther from the truth.

Let it flow is what I'd do. Focus on the story, let the characters write themselves, let the story come together like a puzzle completed and if there's anything that needs tying up, make a DLC or one that's all about the ending like DAI did, but blatantly ignoring the pleading fans seemed wrong to me.

........considering how fast they put out Battlefront...do you really think EA is not working on a game to take advantage of Rogue One's release...a game they will likely Market as the films trailer drops? Going by EA logic, why spend a lot of time trying to push MEA at the same time, when they can crank out a Star Wars game, mix the films marketing and good will with their own marketing campaign and make some quick easy money. Then release MEA later once the interest in the films die down.

And your own definition of what is and isn't Science Fiction is irrelevant here...because it's what the General Audience believes is sci-fi.

Well that's a simple answer. There is only one Star Wars game currently in development at EA (besides SWTOR). That is the open world game being made by Visceral Studios in which Han Solo will be the protagonist. We know next to nothing about that game and EA has given no indication it's coming out this year or next. Considering it hasn't been mentioned in any of their conference calls, it's very unlikely there will be a Star Wars game made by EA that's released with Rogue One.

It's not my definition of "science fiction." You are just blatantly wrong. Star Wars is a Space Opera and to a lesser extent a western. In order for it to be science fiction it would need to somehow be grounded in realism and suggest a possible real life future. It's not. It's fantasy. It's in a separate galaxy where magic is what rules the galaxy. The other reason it's clearly a space opera, besides the fact George Lucas has said it many times, is because Star Wars is about family and relationships. It's never been about science.

Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica are examples of science fiction. Mass Effect is more like Star Wars being a Space Opera than science fiction. I encourage you to research these various genres and understand the differences. Anyone who calls Star Wars "science fiction" is just mistaken and doesn't understand what Star Wars is about.

Prediction - The new Star Wars game from Visceral will release November this year. It will be shown at EA play this summer.

Considering that this entire thread is based off the fact EA/Bioware is in fact NOT giving you the information you want....has it occurred to you that they may in fact have other Star Wars related projects in the works they intend to reveal in the near future that will drop around the time of 'Rogue One'. Perhaps EA is following Bethesda's example since they didn't start talking about Fallout 4 until e3 2015...then released it in November....just saying

Except no. Bethesda is privately owned. They don't have to reveal anything to the public. EA is obligated by law to reveal what they have coming in the future for their shareholders. If the Visceral game was coming this holiday, we'd already know. EA did not mention it being in its 3Q fiscal quarter, so it's not releasing.

I'm more curious about status of the new IP from Casey's Edmonton team. Absolutely nothing came out of it yet, 2 seconds of 'footage' in E3 2014 trailer don't count. With MEA taking the spotlight at E3 this year, I doubt any details on the new IP will come before end of the year if not 2017. And we all know that new big AAA IPs + first details = another year or two before actual realse (often waaaaay longer). So what's the realistic timeline? 2018? 2019? That would be 6-7 years of developement,

It's the project that BioWare Edmonton is working on now. For the past several years they've been building the IP. Now, they are in the process of actually making a game out of it. I'd say 2018 for a release date is likely. BioWare Edmonton has been working on it since DAI so I except a 3-4 development cycle at most. I doubt it will be as large in scale as MEA, which has a ridiculously long dev cycle for a BioWare game, but we just don't know anything about it.

DA:I was supposed to be a 2013 release, then it was pushed to october 2014 and then it had that push to november.

And then it was still God awful.  I kid, I kid, it was only mostly awful.

We don't know the full story. A delay can either mean they're using the time to add new content on top of the old or it can mean they're drastically shifting things up. The official story for DAIs big delay was they used it to make the multiple races protagonist but I think it was also then that they figured out their initial concept for the game wouldn't work and had to make it into the time-sink MMO they ended making. Gaider said DA:I was originally much more than we got and I think the delay was them giving up their vision for a tried and tested formula.

Inquisition suffered from a lack of vision, not a lack of time. They wrote a story and built content around a human PC, but then caved to fan demand and shoehorned in race selection, which even they admit caused the story to lose focus and the cutting of content. They tried to implement more systems/mechanics than they ever could have developed properly and ended up leaving unsatisfying remnants of many of them in the final game. Then they added a fourth race option and didn't bother to implement it properly or develop any content for it. Then they decided to make a bunch of huge maps without giving any thought to  adding content to those maps. And no one developing the game apparently took the time to look at the story from start to finish when it was written, which led to a completely uneven pace and a bumbling, moronic antagonist.

BioWare Edmonton has been working on it since DAI

Way earlier, Edmonton has 2 teams, 'new IP' team is the one that made Mass Effect Trilogy
