Very faint, quiet conversation dialogue after awhile. Definitely not normal.

I'll start out by saying I love Mass Effect 2, and haven't had any qualms with the game, or encountered any *serious* bugs or technical issues. Anyways, so this little problem that started, is about upsetting. Not serious, but still might require a fixing or patch.

As of today, the game dialogue has become really faint and quiet, and I can hardly hear it. Normally the voices were loud and clear, crisp even. I tried restarting my computer, checking my sound systems, turning down the SFX/Game sound in the options menu and maxing dialogue sound, but no avail. It is just the conversation dialogue that is faint and quiet, random banter (like when your walking by someone talking) comes out with normal volume. I've got 18 hours clocked in the game so far and it only just started happening, no idea what it could be. I doubt its a driver problem because it just started happening and the rest of the sound is perfectly fine.

Anyone else having this issue? Googled it, only found one person with this problem so far. Hope someone can give a response or atleast conform it isn't just me, and maybe a patch could be put together? heh.

Thanks for your time.

I've been having this problem all through out the game since i started it. The dialogue seems to keep cutting in an out.

Just started playing and having the same issue. Current drivers on everything. Not really sure what is causing the problem.

I posted in another topic about the same thing. Mine started off the bat. but i played around with my settings and set my speakers to Stereo and it works fine now.

I had this problem initially, but by tweaking my speaker setup I corrected (mostly). It seems this is related to surround sound as mentioned above. By limiting to stereo, you lose some volume when speaker is not in front of you but not bad.

Very disappointing audio configuration setup, I must say. Now, I just have to wait for a bug fix on the awc.dll issue which prevents me from playing now (I played for several hours yesterday). None of the workarounds for that work for me.

Not to make this sound stupid, but I had the same problem when I tripped over the wire that connected my headphones to my sound card. That caused the wire to come out about 1/4 inch, which for some reason made the dialogues sound really faint, while not noticeably affecting any other audio. Did you double check all your cables for basic things like that?

I'm having the same problem and have had to change from 5.1 surround to stereo in order to play the game. This is with WinXP and Creative Audigy 4 sound card, it's an annoying bug which I hope gets fixed because the stereo sounds are not as good as 5.1.
