Now, I know what you're all thinking. Okay, that's a lie. However, I'm going to assume that you're all thinking the same thing, and in response to what you're thinking, I say this:

Height differentials and body types have never been available as part of CC in Mass Effect (or DA, discounting the fixed height/body of the different species.) However, they used to be. Knights of the Old Republic had three different bodies per gender, I think. Maybe it was two.

Are the diminutive getting the short shrift? What about the tall, have they been overlooked? Some days you want to be a 7 foot mountain of a man, and other days you want to be a little rogue who sneaks her way past everyone.

I can't play as dwarves/short people, I've tried, lordy I've tried. Can't roleplay someone who is vertically challenged, well I suppose I could but I don't enjoy it.

I thought that went without saying.

Please don't bring your anti-diminutive prejudices into this discussion, it will only complicate things.

So many anti-small racists already!

Oh... that's called being GGG. You win back the points, and I retract my accusation of racism.

Probably because elite soldiers tend to be of a certain height/body type. It just makes sense.

I did a dwarf playthrough in DAO and DAI.

If it's available in MEA, I would choose to play as a shorter person to see and hear, if there's dialogue related to their height, to say I did. It would add replay value.

I happen to be a 6 ft tall woman who loves all sorts of people, tall or short,

My anti-diminutive prejudice is that so many pointless threads about hair, sweat, and stature have been made today. I think it's time to sign out and call it a day.

And there's always:

Which would be kind of a mic-dropping moment in a forum full of sci fi geeks, as long as no one mentions the goddamned prequels. Oh, *$^#! r4_27.gif

I get your point but Rousey is huge by the standards of her division, so not really a good example.
Daniel Cormier would be a better example IMO, Fedor even better still.

This might not be a strictly serious thread, but I admit, I would like to see some variation in height throughout all races in Adramada. Not huge differences, but at least an inch or three between most characters.

I don't remember much height difference, if any at all, between characters in the previous games. Kasumi was supposed to be "petite" but seemed the exact same height as every other human character. James on the other hand looked huge, yet I remember him being the same height as Shepard.

I dunno.

I don't really see that as having any impact on her as an example of an elite-trained warrior who is shorter than the existing ME character models. Yoda is also an example of an elite soldier who is short. I was responding to the idea that the height options in CC should be limited because elite trained soldiers should all be of similar height. In a world with space magic, I think Yoda's quote pretty accurately sums up how significant a role height should play in a character's ability to be a warrior.

I have always been a great believer that subjects can be broached in a less than serious manner and still address a valid point regarding the game. I honestly like your take on Adramada. It has an acuteness all of its own.

This is part of what I'm getting at. It's not something that everyone notices, but I am the kind of person who wanders around the Citadel thinking, "Why are 98% of all humans exactly the same height and body?"

Even most of the aliens are all the same height, and within species, tend to reuse the same body model with a few colour and armour changes. Greater variety in height and body is not something that I would lose a whole lot of sleep over never seeing in Mass Effect, especially since the resources saved probably help expand the available models and options for additional species in SP and MP. But it would be nice, and it does help me with immersion.

Go Big or go away. At least 2 Meter height. Its a pain being tall but I feel we are deliberately excluded in games. Do you know how hard it is getting a decent hotel, that accommodates my minority. Damned Heightists. :)

I had you covered in the OP:

Are the diminutive getting the short shrift? What about the tall, have they been overlooked?

And might I say, the rest of you may not have appreciated it, but I squeezed at least three puns into the title and main text, and the only comment I received so far about it was from someone who thought they were being a clever grammar-**** but just didn't get the joke.

Andramada is everywhere in this forum. :)

He would never have gotten it on his own. That's only funny for the first 5 minutes or so, then it becomes painful. :P

There were some rumors saying that Ivar The Boneless was a midget with brittle bone disease, but nobody knows how accurate the historical facts so far. Napoleon I was one of the infamous short conquerors.
