So long as he's pushed on us same as Liara was in ME so I can see all the fan boys crying about it. That way I can say "hey, he doesn't understand gender because he's part of an all male race (only hybrid of his kind! even more special snowflake!). To them sex with anyone is just normal." Bioware, you gotta make this happen. It will feed me for many years to come.

Now, if the Asari would have looked like that, I definitely would have romanced the stuffings out of them. Still, I wish they would have looked truly androgynous, especially since they have no gender. Instead, they're just blue space babes with boobs (and tentacles), looking basically like human females.
Asari aren't agendered. That's a common fan misconception. Besides their codex entry explicitly stating they're an all female species, the prefix mono means one or single. For example a monorail is a type of train that runs on a single track, and a person who is monogamous has one sexual partner. A monogendered species then would be one with a single gender.
EDIT: N/M...missed that reply by Killdren88

Yes, but I doubt they even had the concept of gender or sexual dimorphism before they encountered Aliens (for the second time... they probably don't have clear memories about the Protheans aside from religious mumbo jumbo), so I would argue that for them the concept is largely irrelevant, and is used mainly for the benefit of Aliens with two sexes.
Personally I don't see the importance of this one way or the other, they are a species with one gender/sex, The End. For themselves they are just Asari.

Maybe have someone trying to cure the Ardat-Yakshi by artificially introducing gender into the species?
It's a stretch, but I think BioWare could make it work, if they wanted.

I agree, and I think that's what Liara meant in her dialogue. The concept of gender doesn't have much meaning to them because their species only has a single biological sex. I think some people misunderstood it as referring to biological sex, when she's talking about gender identity.

The Asari are a one gender race just like the Namekians in Dragonball Z so it wouldn't make sense.

Considering it's common Mass Effect knowledge that Asari are monogender and there's no male or female, why is this thread not closed yet?

the results of both lack of news..and zero interactions from any devs outside of official announcements. But, to be honest, I don't blame them for not wanting to interact on these boards.

It's been ages since I have come to the forum. I came on last night to see if there was any actual news or updates on the game and I saw threads about male asari, female drell, hair color etc... lol I guess that means no new news on it.

A male asari that is the result of some crazy genetic experiment? Sure, as long as there is a mission where it goes completely insane and we get to kill it.
Aside from that I'd rather keep asari how they are. Being mono-gendered and having to deal with all these other multi-sex species has the potential for a lot of interesting story and character elements that haven't even been touched on yet in the series.

Human-Asari hybrid that was genetically engineered by a scientific corporation, considered a freak by the rest of the Asari.
Would you like to see that in MEA?
That's a badass yet super creepy image.
I'm going to have nightmares.
