If the female protagonist is given the option to have a male alien LI then a Quarian would be a refreshing change of pace as they are closer to humans in appearance.
It would be interesting if our teammates were:
Cora the Asari biotic
Unknown blonde female Human
Male Quarian
Male Synthetic, possible conflict with Quarian teammate
Unknown male Human (renegade)
Female Krogan (Drack a female in disguise to escape a life bound to breeding). We already had Krogan males with Wrex and Grunt.
New alien species as a teammate or a species from the Milky Way we never had as a teammate.
