The mark clearly showed since the very first sequences of the game to be unstable and it was somehow stabilized by an intervention from Solas.
It had a cost but it was not obvious to grasp it

But it looks to be calmed down, and then never mentioned again. Suddenly the Anchor is running wild, but nothing in Trespasser indicates that this is really a part of the Anchor breaking you down, vs. it just going wild after you first power it up.

It may be that the anchor was intrinsically tied with the Orb,so there was no problem so long as the Orb was intact?

I personally don't mind if the Inquisitor is not the PC - she/he is a veteran and it has been long years of work and hardship to continue to be on the front lines. Yet, I would like to see Bioware treat him/her much like they did Leliana. When you ask Leliana to join your party in DA:I, she says she can't abandon her post - She needs to be there to ensure that the organization continues to run effectively. Having the Inquisitor working with Leliana makes sense - while the field team is out ensuring mission success.  I've enjoyed being a new protagonist in each game, and I always smile or laugh when the priors are mentioned...or show up.

I'm not ready to give up hope on the Inquisitor returning just yet. Maybe they're not the main character. I'm fine with that. I like the "dual" protagonist idea - or just to have the Inquisitor as playable character in major scenes concerning Solas. I'm fine with playing most of the game with a new character.

I'm looking at this GDC info as confirmation that we get a new PC in DA4. The Inquisitor could show up in the same way Hawke showed up in DAI, but Trespasser was meant to be the conclusion to playing as the Inquisitor. Either way I'm glad to have an answer to this. I just hope if my Quizzy does show up in future games that the devs don't ruin her the way they ruined my Hawke for me in DAI.

You know what would be cool?

An item slot for the proscetic arm. So that you could switch between magical ones that allow anyone to cast simple spells, or a steampunk-ish one that houses a small crossbow, or a big strong one that increases melee damage, so on and so forth.

I want to run up to Solas and punch him in the fact with a gigantic metal arm while shouting ''HOW DO YOU LIKE ME NOW?''

I feel like a lot of the "Inquisitor must be the protagonist" hinges on the assumption that you want revenge (or redemption). My Inquisitor just wants Solas not to kill everyone, but isn't picky about who does the stopping.

In any case, there's precedent for the Inquisitor to have a presence in DA4. I think it's as likely as Hawke and waaay more likely than a Warden cameo ever was, now that we have an actual voice. Since there's no preset personality a la Hawke, the likelihood of some kind of playable sequence or something increases.

So, best of both worlds?

My Inquisitor had almost no relationship with Solas. Which is why I don't want to be shackled to a character and story based around that relationship for an entire game.

I agree. My Inquisitor has a strong relationship with Solas, but if things were different - lets say, Vivienne was going to become the main antagonist - I would not want to be "shackled" to my Inquisitor with some assumption of a big betrayal that never really existed.

Ditto. Mine's not even miffed about the arm. She was a mercenary, and as such was bound to lose a limb eventually. :P

I just feel like it doesn't make a lot of sense for DA4 to be some ultimate showdown of rivals if Solas sat around the atrium all day, painting and presumably waxing his head. If you took him everywhere, or hated his guts, then I can see why you'd take the things he does personally. But otherwise...

Well the lead writer himself said it wasn't. If you don't believe a direct statement explicitly saying what you claim isn't true, from the person in control, made to a single follower (not in any kind  of PR), nothing anyone says will convince you, as you can just shrug and go "lies, all lies"!

Well, I've seen Bioware lie flat out before, or honestly believe something ridiculous, or just say something stupid. So all bets are off, really. It's hard for me to believe anything they say anymore.

Is that an actual Bioware development slide? Interesting. I certainly hopes this does not mean we don't atleast get to meet our Inquisitor again in the new game. However, if the meeting turns out to be as utterly insipid as meeting King Alistair in Dragon Age 2 then doing without it would be just as good.

We all put our Wardens through hell and back. As for me, I would be happy if mine would peacefully retire from the world. Maybe a secluded hamlet in Serault, that sounds nice.

I just saw it on another thread. Only thing I know is that it was uploaded by a Twitter user cypheroftir.

I'm pretty sure it's from GDC. Weekes and (i think) Epler did a talk on stories, and i think that's where it is from.

I found this link http://www.gamasutra...medium=twitter which seems to go in line with that slide.

Don't quote me, though. I could be wrong.

I suspect that the Inquisitor will still play a larger role than Hawke did in DA2, although I doubt the next game will have a dual protagonist or that s/he'll have as much screen time than, say, Ciri, but chances are that all the negative feedback concerning the previous protagonists and their lack of screen time in the sequels will push the writers to add some Quizzy fan service.

And frankly, if it means that we'll get less cameos in exchange for one hour selecting dialogue-wheel choices with the Inquisitor, I'm fine with the exchange.

I reiterate my preference for a nice anvil on the head followed by a tomb that reads "Here lies the Hero of Ferelden, s/he wasn't unkillable after all" during Dragon Age 5.
