I haven't listened to the podcast or whatever, but I'm curious what he was vague about with regards to when the ark leaves...the way that is worded isnt mutually exclusive. The ark could easily leave during the Reaper War, but then the game "starts" en route to Andromeda while on board the ark, and due to the long journey it takes centuries to get there - thus taking place long after ME3.

I dont see how any of that is particularly vague. Indeed, its so predictable that we already predicted it long ago. But its weird that he would be wishy-washy about it when we already know the setting, likely timeline (in the future of ME3) and calling it an "ark" generally implies a vessel used for salvation (in the Biblical sense), such as escaping the Reapers.

When asked about the setting he says:

"Yeah, far in the future. I don't know the exact amount of years but it's definitely a good deal after the original trilogy"

Then asked about seeing which ending BioWare considers canon are they not really gonna address it he says:

"Yeah, that's what I think they're gonna do [not address it]. I really don't think they will. I think it's just gonna start out somehow you know, I don't know if it's gonna start out midway like you know like you're on your way to Andromeda or might show some vague like you know battle in the Milky Way galaxy you know some kind of vague scenar... you know cutscene or something you don't know what ending they picked and from there you go uhm well I think they're actually not gonna address how the trilogy ended because I mean they've stated multiple times that there is no canon ending it's just whatever...and I think it's better that way...."

then on to co-op

Really rough translation. Way too many uhms and uhs for me to account for...

That bites you in the ass the moment the game would load in moments but you still have to sit through the long elevator ride. ;)

ME1 loads in under two seconds... the elevator from the Normandy dock down to C-Sec takes much, much longer...

My gaming boot drive is an SSD (Win 7 64-bit SP1 Home Premium). In ME-2, which I'm currently playing, my elevator rides last 1 sec; very fast. But...when I select a planet world to land on - to exiting the shuttle - it still takes a long time; I don't understand why it's happening. So I'm looking forward to a faster mission load time in Andromeda. Just hoping it can be achieved.

Oh gotcha, thanks. So he is just BSing that part and he has no idea. That's fine. I was just wondering because the dude has been crazy accurate in the past - including about the original Andromeda leak - so he is definitely an insider who knows things that we dont, and then leaks them out in moderation out of the goodness of his heart, lol.

Yes, in theory the game loads much faster but you still have to wait for the animation of the loading screen to end or in ME1, for the elevator to reach its destination.

You can have a 10 second cutscene in the very beginning of the game that displays the reapers invading then the game starts 200-300 years later.  So, technically it would start when the reapers invaded, but not really.

The main story may not but if i have to lumber round endless empty worlds to find the worlds where there is some side story content, that would make me as a gamer frustrated and annoyed.

If content was to be added in these worlds, and you had to really search for it, exploring the geography, organisms and vistas , all while driving a fun vehicle it would pay off when you actually discovered something, cause it would feel genuine. And after all, the next time you were gonna replay the game, you would already know the way and "fast forward" to it. Or even never finding out it exists, in Dark Souls there are actually huge hidden areas that many players never got to visit. This gets some players even more excited and motivated to search even more.

The original mass effect did have parts of this, but on a lesser scale, you could have some fun discovering primitive organic life and be like "the reapers will come for you in 50k years" or anything to get your imagination going. The vistas were sometimes incredible as well but the geography not so much. And despite the hate for the mako, it was actually possible to climb almost anything and to master its clunky controls, which was kinda rewarding. Not to mention it was deadly accurate and destroyed everything.

Other than that, small empty areas around story content can make the game feel more real. They can be highgrounds that let you see a hub from another perspective or areas to **** around. And since mass effect is being developed on frostbite, I'm betting on many photo galleries threads.

I share your concerns and Bioware knows we all have it. But that is the challenge, maybe some more talented people at Bioware can make it work. Although 100 planets seems a bit of an exaggeration. We'll see.

Or the opening has the Ark sneaking around a Reaper, using a moon as cover, before it takes off for Andromeda as everyone on board lets out a collective "phew." Then the whole game is buddy-comedy roadtrip movie and we don't even get to Andromeda until the very end. And that's when we realize we left all of our good socks back in the Milky Way. Uh-oh...

Now that is cool. You had no problems adding the mod? No glitches to the game?

The mod just changes video files. The risk of issues is minimal to non-existent. I am using a similar thing as well and it really improves the flow of the game IMO.

I haven't used it yet, but according to the comments the only negative is not being able to see Joker's route through the normandy when the collectors attack.

You can even choose which loading screens to loose and which to keep. E.g. I always also keep the ones where you see the team going somewhere by car (Tuchanka/Citadel/Illium), just to maintain immersion.

I actually hope it is not 100+ planets but 100+ solar systems with many planets in each solar system that I can explore.

That would be my ideal sci-fi.

The exploration can be for finding a world to settle on or for minerals or whatever.

That sounds more like an open world to me, which is fine... but BioWare makes plot-driven games. You can have only one, not both. Trying to mix them results in something like DA:I, only worse.

Again, overly ambitious, not focused, probably trying to string together disjointed ideas that were successful with other companies but completely miss the point. I enjoyed DA:I, but it has it share of problems resulting from a game design that would need the development cycle of Starcraft 2 (10 years) to click together. History keeps repeating itself eh? From what I've seen from No Man's Sky is that it's incredibly boring, massive but boring. I don't want the same here please.

As long as the co-op doesn't feel tacked on, I'm game. But also keep in mind that not necessarily "no comment" = "yes there will be".

I'm OK with 100 if at least 20 of them are like The Citadel, Noveria, Illium, Omega etc.

That would mean the game is roughly 7 times longer than the previous ones. Do you think BioWare would put so much work into a single game?

Co-op in the main campaign??

If that is true I guess I'll pass the game.

I personally want planets that are inhabited. That has a society. They don't have to be the same size that's not what I getting at but I want life in them. So each planet would be like a small town a few like a city but not too big.
They called planets in Mass Effect but they're really no bigger then towns and cities in like the Witcher and Skyrim. If that makes sense. The other planets will be like routes.

Large empty zones are not an issue until they become one. They can be a boon in space games. What matters is that the large empty zones still have interesting design, and that there are types of planets that aren't large empty zones.

Mass Effect 1's problem was that the large empty zones were boring. The environments were totally bland. That doesn't have to be the case.

                                                                                      <<<<<<<<<<(0)>>>>>>>>>>

You have to ask why the focus is on exploration with 100s of planets when Bio insists that a Mass Effect Game is all about the story, deep characters, romance  and exciting + fun combat.

Possible explanation is MP + micro$transactions + DLC (ie: what EA calls extra content). According to EA extra content = 1.3b$ a year.

That's completely silly. Even if 20% of planets with atmospheres were inhabitable, why would we be exploring hubs of civilizations? Are we going to be driving the Mako through storefronts and bazaars?

With the amount of work that went into building DAI, it wouldn't surprise that the universe is as large as they say it is.  Me?  I'm not really all that worried.  I was a little bit worried when I started DAI, but that was because I thought there would be more game there.  In other words, more cutscenes, dialogue choices, etc.  With ME:A, I think I'll be right at home.

Supposing we can a krogan, asari, salarian, quarian, geth, turian, and another human ('cause hey, ya know, gotta keep it real) on our crew.

Definitely going to be a catch with that 100 explorable planets bit. Everything else sounds good, as long as it's a clean break from ME3. No connections. No plot lines. I want nothing of that game in Andromeda.

This 100 planets business sounds so overly ambitious and is beginning to give me a bad feeling this game is going to have an extremely weak main story.
